Forza Horizon 5

Series 34, Summer (Wet) - May 23 - May 30

Dial Tone horn in the Forzathon shop.

Trial - Road - S1 900 Retro Supercars - Used the 2003 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale (114 806 103). First race, started as the lead person. Got up to 3rd pretty fast, then second. Another player shot past me on one of the straights, but had trouble keeping control, then disappeared, so I guess he missed a checkpoint. One person dropped, not sure if it was them or not. Another player got past me near the end. Team finished 1, 2 (me), 4, 7, 11 with the drop. Second race, started as the second person. Passed the other person and a couple AI pretty quickly, then shoved the other lead AI at the first hard right hoping it would make a mess for my teammates to get by. It worked, since I got into the lead, followed by an AI, then teammates at 3-5. That AI was pesky until the end, slipping by me a couple times, but I edged it on corners to win. Finish was 1 (me), 3-5, 11.

Temples Rally EventLab - B700 Retro Rally - 2 laps, about 1:10 per, 11 AI. Used the 1983 Audi Sport Quattro (137 185 266). Easy enough, got into the lead about 2/3 through the first lap and wasn't challenged.

The Tiny Tangerine EventLab - A800 Retro Supercars - This is on EventLab Island. 2 laps, about 1:35 per, 11 AI. Used the 1987 Ferrari F40 (595 700 234). Got into the lead making the first turn of the 2nd lap. AI kept it close.

Launch Control Danger Sign - D500 1987 Pontiac Trans Am GTA - 367.5 feet - Kept it stock. Hit 481.15 starting from the far end of the runway. Hit 122 mph at the base of the ramp, dropped a few mph before going airborne.

Los Árboles Speed Trap - D500 1987 Pontiac Trans Am GTA - 101 mph - Tried from the first turn uphill of the trap, but fell a little short. Starting from the middle of the U turn, hit 101.86 and 102.36. Going back to the second turn, hit 103.79.

La Sílica Speed Zone - D500 1987 Pontiac Trans Am GTA - 82 mph - Starting from the 4 way intersection south of the zone (Rally Adventure icon), I managed 83.67. Got up to about 90 entering the zone and bottomed out around 77 coming out of the turn. Another try fell a little short when I bottomed out around 74. Starting from the 4 way intersection past the north end, was able to cross the finish without dropping below the target at 82.46.

Realized the last time I played was over two years ago now and not much has changed in that time, kind of surprising. I see they added more cash shop cars and the two expansions, which I'll probably dabble in just to get seasonal points from. Love the retrowave strip though, spent a few hours just hanging around it snapping pics and cars I needed for the photo album. Fresh music was absolutely needed, so great update overall. That said, I wish instead of those new adventure modes they had created an entire city like this event to explore. I was way more excited for just a small strip of highway than the Lego or whatever the other thing is they added.

The best part was the online stuff. Cruising around with a group of friends, sharing laughs as we tried to outdo each other with ridiculous stunts—those are the moments that'll stick with me. Forza Horizon 5 turned a solo racing game into a crazy, shared adventure.

So yeah, Forza Horizon 5 wasn't just a game but an opportunity for me and my friends to spend time together

Series 34, Autumn (Storm) - May 30 - Jun 6

A number of Retro Supercar events this week to also complete today's daily. Might be able to do Sunday's daily in one of the events, though easy enough to do on the highway.

Trial - Road - A800 Retro Supercars - Used the 1987 Ferrari F40 (595 700 234). AI seemed to have trouble with their handling. First race, started last. Got up to middle of the pack quickly and tried to pass others early on, but hit a barrier and fell back. Still managed to work my way back up to second by around halfway through. Team was 1, 2, 4 and last 3, which would've been a loss, but someone dropped. Tried to focus on blocking out the AI in 3rd instead of moving on the leader, but the person in 4th was too far back. Team finished 1, 2 (me), 4, 7 and 11. Second race, started second last. Again, a lot of bumping, but got ahead of the AI pretty quickly. Team settled into top 4 spots, and that's where we finished (me in 3rd), plus 11th.
  • Reservorio Sprint
  • Emerald Circuit
  • Descansar Dorado Sprint
Horizon Dubai Oldtown EventLab - S1 900 Retro Supercars - 3 laps, little over a minute per, 5 AI. Used the 1993 Jaguar XJ220 (495 054 997). Route overlaps itself at one point, be mindful of the checkpoint markers.

Rally Cross Island EventLab - S1 900 Rally Monsters - This is on EventLab Island. 3 laps, about 1:20 per, no AI. Had a phantom rewind pop up in the 3rd lap, but it went away. Route line is off at the end, might be why there are no AI drivers.

Calle Principal Speed Trap - S1 900 Lamborghini - 200 mph - PR stunts were a bit tricky with the cars I already had tuned. Managed 200.13 and 203.77 with the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 (370 977 095) starting from the paved / dirt T intersection east of the trap. Tried from the first bend, but wasn't enough of a run up. Couldn't manage coming from the west - uphill, too many turns and AI traffic waiting around the corners. Also managed 203.15 with the 2014 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 (144 296 933), but took a couple tries for a clean run.

Trébol Speed Zone - S1 900 Lamborghini - 230 mph - The 2012 Aventador managed it here. Hit 234.88 starting from the end of the expressway east of the zone, hit 234.95 starting from the Highland Climb to the west. The 2014 610-4 couldn't manage it from those start points, even tried backing up to the Los Jardines Danger Sign.

Silvia Surfer - Road - A800 Retro Sports Cars - No problems with the 1994 Nissan Fairlady Z Version S Twin Turbo (132 637 525).
  • Dunas Blancas Sprint
  • Horizon Oval Circuit (5 laps)

  • Festival Cross Country (wet)
Sunset Drive - Street - B700 Retro Saloons - No problems with the 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 (119 788 399).
  • Coast Run
  • Bosque del Sur (rain)
  • Wetland Charge (wet)
Photo - Fast traveled next to the Hotel Danger Sign, switched cars, photo registered.

Collectibles - Didn't find any sunsets in the road bounded section of the map the Dunas Blancas marker was in, but found 13 in the area just south of the Las Dunas Drift Zone. Most are offset from the top of sand dunes, so you'll need to go airborne or try driving around in the sand with a large vehicle like the Benz Tankpool or Unimog. Though some are out of reach for even the big ones. They're lit up at night and easily visible.

Hot Wheels

Forest Escape Danger Sign - S1 900 Retro Supercars - 1,049.9 feet - This was a real pain. Tried a bunch of different cars, kept falling short with what I had. Also saw a number of other people attempting it with different cars while I was trying. Finally managed it with a 1988 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV (977 143 031) with drag tires. Started a little past the first turn before the spur, went airborne at about 175 mph and hit 1,087.86. Topped it with a few more runs, looks like you'll need to go airborne above 170 mph clear the target. Before I did it with that car, best I managed was 165 and fell about 33 feet short.

Chevy Set Go - Speed - S1 900 Retro Supercars - Titled with Chevy (though there are no Chevrolet Retro Supercars), so I used the 1993 Jaguar XJ220 (495 054 997) again. No issues.
  • Canyon's Edge Speed Sprint
  • Twin Loop Speed Circuit
  • Canyon Racer Speed Sprint
Rally Adventure

Canyon Snap Danger Sign - B700 Retro Rally - 344.5 feet - Hit 367.91 with the 1983 Audi Sport Quattro (137 185 266). Set a route to the sign and started from where the route goes offroad. Went airborne at 105 mph. Tumbled a bit on the landing but it didn't fail the jump.

Ren-over and Out - Grit Reapers - B700 Retro Rally - No problems with the Audi Quattro.
  • Switchback Run
  • Joya Marron
  • Orogrande

Finished both expansions and only Hotwheels was any fun really. Rally adventure was incredibly boring and felt more like it could have been placed anywhere on the existing map while functioning the same. Got my N Vision car and that was about it for me. I do hope we get a FH6 this year or an announcement because I've never been a fan of drab desert settings, so a change of scenery would be great.
