It's Been So Long I Don't Know What To Title This Blog, Blog - Part 2

Posted by 1NintendoFan, 23 September 2013 · 677 views

As promised here is part two of my first blog since the beginning of the year. In this edition you will be catching up on my gaming progress as of late. Which, as you will soon find out is not that extensive. Generally, when I take time away from CAG and blogging, I'm also away from gaming in general. I have played some games here and there, nothing too extensive or time consuming, just enough to get a little time in here and there. Enjoy.

Game Progress

Wreck it Ralph - 3DS

I have been in one of those moods lately where I just don't feel like gaming. I like buying games, looking up info on line, watching videos, etc. But being so busy with work I just haven't had the time to actually play lately. It seems like I deal with this during my busiest times at work... then things slow down and I can't wait to start playing games again. After I got Wreck it Ralph for my birthday I knew it would be the perfect game to play without requiring a bunch of time and I was right. The game is extremely easy to beat and only takes a couple hours to complete start to finish. I think I spent 4 hours and that included going back to a few levels so I could 100% the game. It's not a great game by any means, but it was cute and a fun way to waste a few hours.

The thing with this game is that they could have made it so much better. It had a lot of potential, but it didn't come anywhere near reaching it. Even for kids, I don't think this game really lives up to it. The levels are all basically the same, the only thing they did was change the background picture. If you are going to theme the game around the different games in the movie, you would think you could also change the style of gameplay, but they didn't. I really wouldn't recommend purchasing this game, unless you find it cheap and want to add another game to your collection and/or are a big fan of the movie. I really only enjoyed it because it was easy and short, which is perfect for the amount of time I have to game anymore.

Style Savvy Trendsetters - 3DS

I picked this game up solely based on what others said and I have been very surprised with how addicting it was. After I started playing it I pretty much played it every single day, before work, sometimes a little after work and a little before bed. The game is very addictive and seems to have a ton of gameplay. I'm sure I sunk a lot more hours into this game than I ever expected and I feel I'm nowhere near being finished. I did take a little break from the game because it was getting a bit repetitive. But it will be fun to pick up again down the road.

Adventure Time Hey Ice King Why Did You Steal Our Garbage - 3DS

This game was originally going to be picked up based on others opinions, but I was lucky enough to try it before I bought it. After I picked it up I had the urge to play it... I normally try to not do that, but lately I just play what is quick and easy. Overall, I gotta say, I'm loving the game. It is pretty quick and overall it was pretty easy. I played through the entire game in a couple of hours, however, I'm stuck at the final boss battle. I don't really mind that, however, it takes a ridiculously long time to get to the boss and there are no savepoints. That is probably my biggest issue with the game, it was great, up until the end, then the difficulty increased significantly. Overall, I really enjoyed the game and I'm looking forward to actually finishing it up.

The Secret Society

This is the game that has taken up most of my time since getting my Galaxy Note. It is sad I spent all that money on a tablet and most of what I have been doing is playing this game. Anyhow, as I always do when I get a new tablet I start searching the stores for apps, this happened to show up and I thought I would give it a try. As is usually the case when I think I have found a mystery game this just turned out to be a hidden picture game. But, I decided to give it a go and for whatever reason I have really enjoyed it. I like that there is some story to it as well as various goals to work through.

I have had some issues with the game, for example, it is one of those games that does everything it can to try and get you to sink money into it. I get that they need to make money, but it does get annoying at times. Another issue I have is that I hate being limited with my gameplay. On one hand I guess it is a good thing or else I may play it nonstop, but I don't like being forced to quit a game because I have to wait longer to get enough "energy." The other thing I have had an issue with is the the difficulty at times. I'm all for a game being challenging, however, there are times I have to use a hint to help me find something and it is nearly impossible to find it. Sometimes the item is just turned upside down and looks different compared to the shadow they give you, but other times you have a small fragment of the item showing underneath several other things. It just gets annoying when you waste your time trying to find something only to discover they had you looking for something nearly impossible to find. The other issue is that I have had some technical difficulties. The game has achievements, which they refer to as awards. I set it up so that my accomplishments would be shared on a twitter account, because one of the awards comes from sharing your progress. I don't have twitter, so I literally just set it up to try and get this achievement (I know, it's sad) and even though you can see a 100 different things I did on the twitter page, the achievement shows I haven't shared one thing... which is kind of annoying.

Despite all of that, however, I really do enjoy the game. Like I said before, I don't know what it is about this particular one because I generally don't like them. But between the story line and the fact anytime you start to get bored you get something new to explore, it has managed to keep my interest. It is a fun little app and has kept me pretty busy, so considering it was free you really can't go wrong.

Disney Infinity

So as I posted in my last blog I had ordered Disney infinity but had not received it to actually try it. Shortly after posting that blog the mailman arrived with my shipment of all of my figures and the game. I couldn't wait to give it a try, but unfortunately had to wait until I had some time and also caught up on some things I needed to do. I was finally ready to play the other night, had been waiting for weeks for the game to arrive, a few days to play since I got it and the entire day knowing I was going to play it that night... I even remembered to charge the gamepad. Turn my Wii U on and unfortunately I had over an hour additional wait cause I had updates since I last played :( Not a big deal, I watched some YouTube videos and waited patiently while still getting some things done I needed to do.

I did finally got to play it and I have to say, I love the game. I didn't go too deep, just tried it out as I like to do with all my games. That night I tried all the playsets (with the exception of cars that I don't have yet) and also put all my characters on the base. I heard some people had some issues with the characters not working so I wanted to give them all a try. Fortunately everything was good.

Some time ago I got to play the Toy Story 3 video game for the PS3 and I really enjoyed that game. More than the game itself I really liked the toy box mode and I spent a lot more time there than the actual game. What is cool about Infinity is that they took a lot of inspiration from that game to make the playsets, they all have a very similar feel and I love it. Plus, the possibility of what could all come from the game is really cool as well.

The game isn't perfect, for example, the load times are pretty long. I also found myself getting annoyed trying to navigate in the game, I had a hard time finding different things... after an hour or so in the game I wasn't even able to find the playset I had downloaded. The other thing I found that was kind of annoying was that they didn't use the original actors voices. I know it saves a lot of money, but I just think it would have been better for the game to have that and really have that Disney touch.

Overall, I loved what I played of the game and I really didn't get to touch the surface of what it has to offer. The game looks great, is a lot of fun and has so much potential. I'm really excited to see where the game goes and also get the chance to actually start this game up!

That's all for this blog. Hopefully I can find some more time to play and post another blog sooner!

Until next time

Been a while since I heard from you :D

I know... it has been way too long... haven't been playing too much as you can see either... I'm telling you, I don't like being a grownup :D
