What Are You Playing This Weekend? - The Next Gen Holdout Edition

Posted by tylerh1701, in PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One 15 November 2013 · 592 views

Eh, I've waited long enough. Time to uslurp DaddyBoJangles glory again.

As the title says, this weekend isn't anything special for me since I'm passing on next gen consoles for the time being. PS4 looks awesome and I can't wait to get my hands on one, but with my PS3 and 360 backlog I just can't justify picking one up at this time. It will be at least a year before I'm able to clear my backlog, and I'm hoping to scoop up a decent PS4 bundle around Black Friday 2014. Xbox One...yeah not really interested. My recent experience with Microsoft has pretty much soured me on the vast majority of their products.

So I'll be trying to clear out my 360 digital backlog this weekend, still got lots of pretty good stuff on there and I'd like to be done with my console ASAP so I can sell it to my brother. Saturday I'll probably be heading to Buffalo Wild Wings for some UFC 20th anniversary action (pulling for Chael and Hendricks, but have my doubts about Hendricks doing much vs. GSP) and Sunday my friend is coming to town, possibly with his brand new PS4, and if he does have it I'll be checking out all the cool new features. I'm really interested in the streaming and commentating features it has.

How bout everyone else? Most you guys already grab your PS4?

No PS4 for me. I'm not impressed enough at the moment to give it a go. Maybe down the road. However, the only upcoming games I'm remotely interested in are MGS: Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain & Mad Max -- and both are coming to the PS3. Right about now, I'm way more interested in a Retron 5.

This weekend I think I'll play some Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate for the 3DS.

Wrapping up Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies will be my main focus for this weekend and next week. I'm enjoying it, even though it's not quite as good as previous games in the series.

As for next-gen, I'm in much the same boat as you are in; it doesn't help that there aren't any launch games on either the PS4 or Xbone that are must-plays for me. Actually, my next console purchase will probably be a PS3 (once a decent amount of my backlog is cleared), so that I can play certain exclusives I had missed on that system.

I do want a PS4 but I don't have the funds right now and there are no games that interest me. I will get a PS4 one day but not anytime soon. The new Uncharted and  new Tales of games have peak my interest.

I went back to play Persona 3 Portable and Tales of Xillia. I'm almost done with both, I just have to do some more grinding.

Both console's launch lineups are weak, with Xbone's being slightly better than PS4's in my opinion.  However, there are tons of upcoming games on the PS4 I'm interested in, but I think I'll hold out for now.

As with others I like the PS4 but since I bought a TV last year and since the lauch line up is weak (possibly good with Infamous: Second Son or WatchDogs) I believe Tyler is correct in that next fall will be better and more people I believe will get it for BF 2014.

I am currently finishing my PS3 backlog with God of War 3 and El Shaddai. Possibly squeezing in time on my PS Vita with Gravity Rush.

Other than that, I am not doing too much this weekend, I believe.

I'll be playing on my Playstation 4. I have Killzone: Shadowfall, Assassin's Creed 4, Contrast, Resogun and Flower with Need for Speed Rivals on the way. I'm excited to have a new console! :whee:

No PS4 for me yet.  Originally was going to get both consoles at launch but I became a homeowner last weekend so one had to go.

Have some credit card rewards to redeem so I will try for one once those are in (GC that is).  Will try to get one before Christmas.  :)

For me probably some more Pokemon X & Y.  Will try to squeeze in some Ghosts on 360 too.  :)

Cannot wait until next week though :D

Getting: AC IV, BF4, Dead Rising, Forza, NBA 2K14

Downloading: Crimson Dragon, Killer Instinct (free), and Lococycle

I finished off Back to the Future during the week so time to move on to some Black Ops DLC. Still on the last mission in Borderlands 2. After fighting the Warrior for 30 minutes and only taking away a third of his life me and my friend realized that we're only level 28 and it suggests level 30. So probably gotta grind a bit before we try again.

On the next gen front. I realized I will be buying both systems next year and I'm okay with that. I will be picking up my PS4 with Destiny when it releases and the xb1 with the next halo assuming it releases next year.

I'm actually celebrating the PS4 by finishing Halo 2 last night and starting Halo 3. I recently scored a very cheap 360 Slim, and between a handful of games on 360 and my huge PS3 backlog, I'll have enough games to last me a long time - at least a year or two given how infrequently I have time for games.

I'll be jumping into next-gen next weekend.  I'll get a PS4 eventually, but since I really can't even justify getting the XB1 (I also have a ridiculous backlog) right now, it can wait.  I finally finished GTA V this week, so this weekend I don't think I'll jump into anything too big.  Maybe some achievement cleanup in GTA V, or one of my XBLA backlog games.  I keep thinking about starting The Swapper on PC, but haven't yet, so maybe that.

Going crazy waiting for next Friday, though.  It's going to be a long slow week.

late to the party, but PS4 for me after finishing up AC3 finally.  Looks like I'll have finished Contrast completely over Remote Play at this rate and something about that tickles me.

I get everyone holding out on the PS4 for a variety of reasons for sure, but for me it really is just plain fun to have a new shiny toy.  Everything is such a vast improvement over the PS3 it's ridiculous.

No next gen for me.

:ps3: Fallout 3 - close to finishing this, I just want to wrap up a few sidequests

:ps3: Little Big Planet 2

That list looks a whole lot nicer than what's out now.  I'm also super excited for some of the indies coming to PS4, but hopefully they'll have Vita crossbuy so I can play them anyway.

I love my PS4, and I'll love it even more when Pinball Arcade comes out in the next few weeks.  Right now I'm playing through Ratchet & Clank on the PS3... I forgot how fun games like this were.  After that it will be AC4 on the PS4, then probably another PS3 backlog-from-hell game.

I just played the first R&C for the first time a couple months ago.  Excellent game, cannot wait to get further into the series!
