Bought a Wii at a flea market and it doesn't work

Posted by Deadpool 3.0, 19 June 2013 · 772 views

Seriously, What the Fuck?

It doesn't say anything about it not working. It was 40 bucks for the Wii and it says no returns at the flea market. I'm mad as hell to be honest. 40 bucks to my broke ass might as well be 200 bucks.

Can I even sale it as broken and mention its broken on ebay and get something out of this piece of shit?

Or is there a fix for it? It powers on, but doesn't show a damn thing on screen. Its like it isn't hooked up when it is.

Who the Fuck sells something that doesn't work? Fuck that guy.

People sell broken things all the time on Ebay and they do actually sell, and for about a third of the going rate. So a broken Wii might fetch $20 plus shipping. Just be careful about shipping costs. Also, I'm not sure whether it's against Ebay policies or not to sell broken things, but people do it.
Try trading it to Gamestop maybe? Don't they take broken consoles at a reduced price? You would have to ask them.

20 plus shipping. I need 40 plus shipping. I don't have gamestop here or I might actually go that route and tell them it doesn't work.

Even though the flea market says no refunds. I'm gonna go bitch tomorrow and see if I can talk to the one who sold it and see if they help or not.

If they don't I'll make sure he doesn't sale another item if he's gonna sale crap and not be honest about it.

I once bought a used 360 controller from a guy I also bought a bunch of games from.  The games were in imaculate condition, so I figured I was OK with the 360 controller.

Turns out the L3 button (LS Button?  The button you click when you push in the stick) didn't work on it.  At all.

Learned my lesson right there.  I'll never buy a used console or used input device (like a controller) again.

I know the sign says "No Returns" but maybe if you go in calm, cool and collected and ask for an exchange you might have some luck.  If you go in and start bitching you are likely not to get very far and honestly I wouldn't blame him for not doing a refund or an exchange.  If you stand in front of his booth and rant and rave about him scamming then you are likely just going to get some odd looks and be ejected from the premises.  I know it sucks buying something that doesn't work but that is part of the risk of buying something from a flea market or craigslist.

Have you tried the Wii on a different TV? Have you tried different A/V cables? Are you using composite or component cables? Have you tried doing this when you start it up:

- Power on Wii, give it a few seconds to boot
- Hold DOWN on the directional pad of the Wii remote
- While holding DOWN, press the RESET button on the Wii

That resets the system back to default display options.

i thought everyone knew not to buy gaming systems or accessories at the swap-meet.

Its 50/50 chance you might get a working system.

good way to get  arrested .   i know for a fact that if you just stand around the booth  and block them or  tell people  about stuff they do have the right to call the cops and escort you out of the building and  even file charges against you.

its the buyers   who has to make sure all of the the crap is in working condition before it leaves the sellers hands...  who is to say you did not bust it on the way home or even  flipped systems on him... you  had a  busted system at home (not saying you did   just  giving you the line the buyer is going to say)     but im not joking about  getting arrested   some of those flea market people will call the cops on you  and you will be arrested cause you are on their land

I never said I was going to bother them in person. I was going to be nice and ask for a exchange. If that doesn't work I'll just keep posting on there Facebook thing saying that booth is shady and no one should buy from them.

I'm a honest seller. I always check my shit and I've never sold nothing that doesn't work. That's bad business.

I've tried everything with this Wii and its a no go. Tried the av cables it came with and tried component cables. Nothing is working. Read a couple of things online to try and none of those worked either.
