Yeah, Gamefaqs is a double edged sword when it comes to getting new people... it's rather mixed bag over there. At least no one linked to this site on a post in LUE. I don't think we could withstand that :)

I did that last week -- literally.

It was a link to the chat room here, and not the main messageboards, but it was definitely a link.

In my defense, it was in the middle of the night, and I was supposed to be granting wishes, so you need to go after the person who made the wish.

Well, perhaps it isn't as bad as I thought. I used to post on LUE, back a few years ago.. I've looked in every so often, but one can only stand reading the same out drivel and filth thats been pumped out of there so long. There still are many good threads to read over there, but I got tired of sifting through the leet-speak, fad topics, and unspeakable filth that finds it's way there. Of course, I can't bash anything too much... I still look at the Next Generation Gaming board over there fairly frequently.

I think someone posted a link or something a month or two earlier which wound up crashing my server and making my host very angry.

Same here. Last time this thread was made it seemed most the people on here at the time found it that way.

Its interesting to see how that doesnt seem to be the case with the newer members now.

The funny thing is that I genuinely don't recall. The phrase 'cheapass gamer' had somehow entered my consciousness because one day I was looking for more info on a rumored blowout sale and did a search for it. After finding to my surpise there was a site by that very name I had no choice but to investigate. After that it was all "You'll never find a worse hive of scum and villainy" but I joined anyway, figuring I was already ahead in the game.

It is possible the phrase is something I just thought of on my own and turned out to be following the line of thought that had lead to the site's creation but that doesn't seem likely as it wasn't the sort of phrasing I was likely to use.

So those subliminal ads during Masterpiece Theater must have worked!
