I've heard that ripping your games from the disk in the PS2 is hard on the laser. Additionally, there are dummy files that you can remove to make the images smaller and subsequently fit more onto the HD.
I know that you can hook the HD right up to your PC and copy them that way, but I've modded the piss outta my PS2 and its a bitch to get the HD in and out. Plus, I'm too lazy to crack my case everytime I want to throw another game on. I also don't want to buy an external HD enclosure for such infrequent use.
So my question is- Is it possible to ftp strait into the PS2 so I can push the images over the network?
On more question, is it possible to boot HDL off a flashstick/thumbdrive?

Why is it not easy? Can you provide links or something?

i would just get a enclosure and save yourself the trouble. It is not worth it. If you want to try just google it.

my laser got fawk up. i was ripping to many games onto the hd (purpose was to cut loading times), and now my ps2 can't read any cd's or ps2 games, or even the hdloader cd. I have like over 40 ps2 games on the hdd, so im trying to figure out to boot hdl off the memory stick because i remember reading it somewhere that is was possible.

you still need to use a ps1 game as a bootdisk to load from the memory card, so it might not work for you.

Did you use the tape trick?
Try putting a little piece of tape on 4 sides of the bottom of the disk around the hole.

Also, clean the lense off with a qtip and alcohol.

There is a memory card exploit that will let you boot HDLoader off a memory card. But yeah you have to get an action replay or some other weird half working device to hook it up to your pc to install the update onto the memory card. I thought about doing that myself when I had DRE issues.
It is a LOT easier to just open up the ps2 and adjust the laser then it is to screw around with the weird memory card exploits or networking to your PS2 in my opinion.

And what 62t said you are gonna have to have it read a bootdisk or an action replay max? boot disk atleast once to do the memory card exploit as wel..
