Despite having my laptop for a year i finally had it shutdown on me because of overheating recently. So i thought it would be a good investment to buy a device that would cool a laptop. Are there any good cheap laptop coolers out there? On the web or at a store?

newegg.com has a few for around $13+. I just recently bought the lapcool 3. works pretty good, but is a bit flimsy and wish the power cord was on the left side and/or the power port on the pad was a USB so I could get a retractable cord. main reason for buying that particular one, cheap and only 1/2" thk. compared to most others that were upwards to 3/4" thk or more. theres also ones with built in usb hub/card reader, but those have to plugged into a wall outlet to use the hub/reader
If your laptop is sitting on a desk (rather than on your lap), then just get a small desk fan available for $10 anywhere. Set it on the desk next to your laptop and then direct the flow of air over your laptop's hotspot (cpu and/or HD). Problem solved. An oscillating fan works even better.
