In regards to the used Mario Superstar Baseball for gamecube in the ad for 9.99.

So I go to the one in San Marcos Tx. I specifically called before going and asked if they had any used Mario Superstar Baseball thats in the sale ad. They said yes. I make the 25 drive. Grab my 1 copy and try checking out. Its comming up at 39.99. I showed the ad and eventually a "CS" manager comes and looks and after digging through the computer they claim that the 3 they have in stock, while in fact used, dont count because they were ex-rentals and not trade in's. They claim that they would get in trouble if they sold it to me because this and that and Hastings would lose money. After a nice discussion about how it says nothing in the sale ad about excluding ex-rentals and the fact that I called ahead to make sure they had it and I was told they did. I asked them how fair is it to say you dont want the company to lost money yet you got me to drive 25 mins one way to get a game on sale that I was told over the phone you had?

So needless to say Im going to be raising some hell.

Holy shit, you caught me!

The post in the sale thread was more of a warning to others. This is the thread where Ill continue to bitch about the situation. Is that ok with you? Ill be sure to pm you with my intentions ahead of time if the situation calls for it.

Be sure to do that, as I'll probably be the only one who halfway cares.

I'm not familiar with Hasting's but are they rental copies and trade in's labeled differently? Regardless, I think they should have honored it because of what they said on the phone and because the ad sounds vague.

I'm sure they are losing money regardless, unless they gave less than $9.99 in trade in credits for trade ins of the game so that's a weak argument on their part

They tried to claim that the labels on the ex rentals are marked clearance to show the diff. That I understand but they wouldnt even budge once for the fact that I called ahead of time and was told that item was indeed available. Had they said yes, but then explained the pricing issue, no problem, thats totally understandable. To tell people yes its in stock, then get there to be told yes its in stock but we didnt mention to you on the phone or in the ad that theres a diff between ex-rental used and trade in used.

Ok. I called back today and spoke to a manager. I explained everything exactly how it went down. After going a little back and forth peacefully and talking things out, the manager decided that if I came back this weekend he would honor the ad price.

Sucks you have to make another long drive to get it though...

Yeah, after calling someone back that I know who works there, I asked to check the game and its one with the stickers on disc and the books is all marked. He said it looked like theyre trying to pawn off the worst of the 3. fuck em. I aint going back. Ill pay more to get a new one eventually.
