Im gonna stop by a couple pawn shops/goodwills and check out some of there games, but how do i know if i am over paying? What is the max price i should pay on a game to not overpay? (and maybe resell) And what if the game is like 10 dollars and i think its to much, but its actually some super rare game worth like 50 dollars? So i guess the main question im asking here is, how do i know what games to get and at what price?

I know thats a lot of questions, but its all pretty much the same thing reworded :P

it depends on the game.
there is no magic number.
check the completed listings on ebay yourself and calculate the average selling price (etc.) for that game.

There's no way to list a price for every game you might find. Some brand new games aren't worth $2, while some 10 year old games are worth $50.

meh, i went to some pawn shops and some goodwills and the pawn shops were overpriced and goodwills had nothing. Is there anywhere else i can go besides yard sales?

$1 is a sweet price to buy games. oh and 50 cents, that's pretty good as well. But you know what's even better than that?? A quarter! 24 cents is a little better than a quarter.

sorry, just being a smart ass ;)

I think 'whatever that game is worth to you' is the best price, but I usually buy to play not to try to make eight bucks off ebay.
Pawn shops do suck. I have never been in a pawn shop where there were any 'deals' on virtually anything. I always thought they'd be like a garage sale, but the vast majority of stuff I have seen in pawn shops could be found either for the same price or just a little more buying new, or at least used from a 'real' store. Maybe on some specific product lines like guitars/instruments or guns they're better.

Replace "game" with "antique", "LP", "figurine" or whatever collectable you want, and see how illogical your question it.

The value of games all depends on how much people are willing to pay. Watch ebay for a while, get to know what games sell and what don't, and use this information when you go bargain hunting. There's no secret formula (ooh, red games sell better!) - so if you're getting into it to make cash, know your market.

There's this one pawn shop where I live that chages $10 for all of their games no matter how old they are. I've found some sweet stuff like Mario Party 7, Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance, Zelda Master Quest, Zelda Collector's Edition, and 2 copies of Marvel Vs Capcom 2! There's no way to find these games that cheap! Good pawn shops can totally be worth a stop.

dang, the pawn shops i visited had the worst prices. Like some 2004 sports game for 20 dollars.

$2 or less for any non-sports cartridge.

look for RPGs.

but there's of course no way of guessing which games are rare. you'll have to do the research on your own.

Aside from the resale value aspect, we all know the true magic price is $4.99.

I would easily blow $4.99 at BB for a junker like Beatdown, but I held back at the CC $8.96 sale completely.
