Does Target PM? If so what exactly do you need as proof and it in store deals they match or online as well?

IIRC I've asked at mine and they told me they don't.

And hardly any stores will match an online price, but you probably knew that already. I believe Sears will (with some restrictions) but that's the only major store I know of that does.

The only thing that Target will do is to do a return-and-rebuy, and on their own prices only. Not even their online prices, since that's a different division of Target.

Some Target wont even do return-and-rebuy with clearance items.

What did you PM? From the site of a local B&M retailer? Although even that somewhat surprises me as my local Best Buy won't PM bestbuy.com prices.

But it's also very true that if you get the right CS rep you can land just about anything.

was browsing around TRU, saw prince of persia: two thrones (gc) for $19.99, headed down to BB, asked them to pm, told the guy to call the store, he checked online instead, only saw the xbox one for $19.99, told me to grab the gc one go to checkout and they'll PM it, so it was going like that, then i remembered the bestbuy PM policy, that they'll beat a pm by 10% of the diff, they had it for 39.99 so i got $2 off making it 17.99 + tax, a few days later i went to FS to pick up x-men legends for 19.99, and saw they had prince of persia: two thrones for 59.99, not sure if they will beat a pm by 10% of the diff, but if they do i would've gotten $4 off instead

BB's policy is actually to match the 10% on prior purchases w/ receipt, not at the point of sale. By the book you'd have to buy it at full price, walk over to the CS desk with your receipt and THEN they'd give you the difference + 10%. (I'm not making that ridiculous crap up either, it's actually their stupid policy.)

So you had an even nicer CS rep than you originally realized.

Store Price Guarantee
If you're about to buy at a Best Buy store and discover a lower price than ours, let us know and we'll match that price on the spot.

Already bought? We'll refund you the price difference, plus an additional 10% of that difference – up to 30 days after your purchase (14 days on desktop computers, notebooks, projectors, monitors, printers, camcorders, digital cameras and radar detectors). In either case, simply bring in proof of the price on the same available brand and model, from a local retail competitor.

OTOH I've asked at my BB and they claim they'll match after rebate prices from local comps (so that means you wouldn't have to fool with a rebate) but I haven't actually tried out that one.

I believe they match prices on the spot like what i did, though i could be wrong, let me see if i can find the policy, the part you have is only a section of it

Edit: Here it is

Either prior to purchase or within 30 days of purchase (14 days for computers, monitors, printers, notebook computers, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, portable DVD players, and air conditioners) should you find a lower advertised price, including those on the internet from an authorized Canadian Dealer, we will match that price and beat it by giving you an additional 10% of the difference.

Canada Best Buy's policy is different (and better) than US Best Buy's. Wouldn't have thought that, but makes things much easier for you. What I quoted was direct from the US site and accurate for the states. We have to have already bought to get the extra 10%.

http://www.bestbuy.com/olspage.jsp?type=page&categoryId=cat00000&contentId=1043363603302&id=cat12098

It's an assinine policy obviously created to greatly reduce the amount of + 10% price matching they do yet allowing them to still claim We beat any advertised price!*

* offer only good on prior purchases

I may write BB to encourage them to switch to the much more consumer friendly Best Buy CA price match policy just to see what (if anything) they say.

Shocking to see that the BB.CA PM policy is so much more like CC's policy here in the US.

For me, I know that CC will do PM + 10% at time of purchase for competitors, though BB will do PM only at time of purchase. BB and CC will do PM + 10% for competitors after time of purchase, though BB will only do PM for their own prices and CC will do PM + 10% on their own prices.

So, when I have to get a PM that I want the 10% on, I almost always go to CC, and most of the time when it's CC's prices, I buy it in advance and have CC PM it. The rest of the time, I buy it at full price @ BB and then go to the CustSvc desk to get the PM + 10%.

So I can pricematch the Gameboy Micro's price on Walmart's online store and buy it at my local Sears? Does it matter if I can't provide the printed out price from Walmart online since my printer is broken?

You need the paper copy of the pricing, otherwise, I'm not sure if they have the ability to check it in-store.

I can't say that I've tried PMing an online price with Sears, though I know other CAGs have tried with success, and others tried and failed.

^Thanks Shrike, looks like I'll just wait for a pricedrop or find another printer if I attempt ever to pricematch. I'm not really willing to cause any trouble for the workers at a local store just to save a few dollars. :)
