Does anybody know of a good place to get a PS2 fixed? I somehow busted my friends PS2 so I have to get it fixed. I'm really hoping its not going to be too expensive, but from what I've heard I shouldn't expect that.

Define "busted" exactly, and you might get a few more responses.

BTW, I've always been a bit curious as to why people think DREs are detrimental to the Fatty PS2. There are plenty of online resources that specifically and easily tell you how to fix them step-by-step.

My friend fixed his Fatty after it gave DREs on God Of War (ie: non-blue-bottom discs) and it works perfect now. Took him about 15 minutes of Googling and less than 1 hour to fix.

(Fix in a nutshell: there's an internal dial that you adjust on/near the laser lens to get the proper position/height of the laser, once you find the sweet spot via trial&error, DREs are gone).

I put a game/movie in the machine then I get "CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK" and the screen just says "Reading Disc" for a really long time.

Same for me, my PS2 wouldn't read GoW, I eventually just opened it up and fixed it. ironically now it doesn't work for GoW only for some reason now

Mines laser was clicking, so I just smashed mine with a hockey stick and got a new one. I think it was a little more serious than DREs.

I'll definetly break it if I try to do it myself.

I don't see how you broke his PS2. Unless it was working fine during the time it was in your possession and then it suddenly started doing this. If I was your friend, I'd probably make you fix it, too.

The massive clicking doesn't sound like a DRE error (the easily fixable kind). Most places charge at least $50 to even fix a PS2, plus parts and shipping. You might have better luck buying your friend a used one.

The playstation wasn't doing the clicking until it was in my possesion. I didn't do anything to it, but I'm responsible for it, so I have to pay to get it fixed.

Try calling Sony to have them repair it, even if it isn't under warranty, they sometimes still will do it.
