I don't know where to get it cheap, but I can tell you this, if you didn't already know:

The DQ8 guide isn't really a guide. It is just a lot of enemy and character information. No walkthrough of any kind. Kinda defeats the purpose for me, but it could be different for you.

I believe these were pennied out not too long ago at Best Buy (someone correct me if I'm wrong). So you might want to check there. Or check the pennied guide thread and see if someone can help you.

Best Buy is currently the only place it's been pennied out at. Good luck finding one there, though.
