View Full Version : Alien Hominid & Castle Crashers announced for XBLA

Bryan had the distinct opportunity to visit The Behemoth’s offices today to chat with them about their new game and see how it’s progressing. We’ll have a full exclusive interview going up a bit later with some direct feed from the new title, but for now we’ll give you some of the good news.
The Behemoth’s new 4-player side scrolling action brawler is now called Castle Crashers. The company debuted the game in alpha form running on the GameCube at last year’s Comic-Con. Currently The Behemoth plan to release the game in early 2007 for Xbox Live Arcade. Pricing has not yet been determined, and whether the game will be released on other consoles is also unknown at this time.
Also, for those looking for more Alien Hominid love – that title will also become available for Xbox Live Arcade this Holiday. Two player co-op has yet to be confirmed, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Wow XBLA really does seem to be proving itself as the best way for small developers to get their games out there.

XBLA is awesome... I wish they would work out a deal with Midway for some more old school arcade games, like Paperboy or Total Carnage.

i am so overwhelmingly jacked up right now. that looks freaking great. i love those guys art style.
castle crashers looks like old cgolden axe/final fight kinda gameplay. i loved those.

I'm pretty sure Paperboy was announced as coming out sometime in the future. Midway has several games in the works.

Yep, you're right, I totally forgot UMK 3 was coming too.

After watching the trailer, Live gameplay looks like it's gonna be awesome.:bouncy:
Castle Crasher trailer was sweet. More and more things are starting to push me to get a 360.

Xbox Live Arcade is teh awesome! I can see myself playing the arcade more than actual 360 games unless Gears of War decides to come out.

Castle Crashers looks awesome. And After looking at the wikipedia list that Roufuss posted, I hope they're serious that UMK3 will be 400 points. Only thing I'd have against it, as with most of the series, is the literal split second they give you to input a fatality command. I can't count how many times the time ended while I was getting in the position to execute the command
I never played the game before.
I might give it a try when it comes to the 360.

Thanks for the link, I never even saw that the first time around. Worms on XBL would be awesome - I used to play Amageddeon over the 'net for the DC.
But they said an announcement would be soon - and that was back in June. I wonder if this has gone the way of Darwinia for XBL (which was mentioned back in May but never again since).

Honestly it looks soo amazing- a breath of fresh air considering we've seen so many rereleases on XBLA.
Alien Homid has been out so long that rereleasing it sounds like a pretty plausible idea. I never bought it (only played the flash version) but I will surely buy it for XBLA. That being said I will also definetly be buying the rerelease of Worms which I already own the original version of (not to mention I just bought an unopened copy of World Party for PS1 at EB for $4).
I have recently become an acheivement whore. I literally bought Galaga just for the 200 points. I am honestly more excited about the Live Arcade than the actual retail games coming out. I just love that you dont need to go to the store and you can just DL it right to the hard drive.
I agree with one of you who posted before me. I have never had this much fun with a video game system before.

While I still can't stand the flash style and overly internet geek friendly design, the game looks very fun. Will definitly get when its on the marketplace.

The sound effects are awesome-- little, dinky looking characters slapping each other, but it sounds like a loud, bone-crunching battlefield :lol:

I'm still wondering if games like Gunbound will ever see the xbla.
I think they would be a match made in heaven with the ability to buy crud in the marketplace. I would love to play that game without seeing chat bubbles filled with expletives over the whole screen.

Castle Crashers is an upcoming console video game independently developed by The Behemoth. Originally announced in 2005 (as the codename "Ye Olde Sidescroller" or "The Behemoth's Next Game") and again announced by The Behemoth during Comic-Con 2006 (as Castle Crashers), the game will be available for download with the Xbox Live Arcade service during the first quarter of 2007. As of now, the release date is set to February 17, 2007.
