Just thought I'd share an email I wrote to Nintendo about my dislike of the friend code system. Writing mail works for senators, why not Nintendo? :D

Hello again Nintendo, I have a suggestion. I don't really know how large of an impact these emails have on anything that goes on at Nintendo HQ, but I might as well try. I recently read about the "leaked" Wii info about online play. I'm not asking you to confirm or deny, but rather comment about the friend codes. I understand Nintendo is commited to protecting the safety and privacy of children and adults alike, but the friend code idea is awful. If you look at Xbox Live, each users has a unique Gamertag. If this basic ideal was brought over to Wii Wifi, in the sense that each user has a universal friend code for every game, it would be a great system. Please do not make a system where each game needs a unique friend code. That would be extremely inconvinient and would probably make it a lot harder to create a new market for online Nintedo titles. Thanks for listening, and have a good day!

Mr. Anderson:

Good for you for sending that email. Regardless of whether or not it will bare an impact, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with an attempt.

Eh, just thought I'd share. I was up until 7 this morning, said "Hey, might as well put my time to good use." ;)

The response:

Hello and thank you for contacting Nintendo,

I can appreciate your concern regarding the use of Friend Codes with
Wii's Wi-Fi Connection (WFC) service. Having said that, nothing about
how Wi-Fi will work with Wii games has been revealed by Nintendo at this
time. When the details of WFC for Wii are unveiled, you'll see them
first on our website (www.nintendo.com).

I appreciate your taking the time to share your comments. Rest assured
that they will be forwarded to the appropriate department for further
review.

Thank you for your e-mail.

The response:

Now if they ditch the friend code system, you can claim it was your idea.

Nintendo reads and responds to just about every email they receive. They're good like that.

"If you look at xbox live...". That probably wasnt the way to go about it.
