I am about to create my first auction and I was curious, do most of you have about the same success with 5 day as 7 day listings? I imagine the more time, the more bids, but I'd rather my first auction end during the week instead of Friday evening next week.

My experience is that it really doesn't matter how long an auction is, as long as it ends on a MONDAY (so you get the weekend bidders involved).

If you start AND end on a Friday, you waste that first weekend, since most of the weekend crowd will pass over (or won't even see on the first page of searches) your auction because it's still a long ways from ending.

Just my 2 pennies...Good Luck!

If it's an item that there's a pretty steady demand for (dozens of copies selling daily), then as long as you start it at a reasonable hour where people we be online to bid at the end, it doesn't really matter when it is. In terms of more expensive items, like electronics, that don't show up that much (one or two listings a day, if that), I'd say the longer the better. People will search for those items and plan ahead...I'd say people put higher prices in for these and these types of items also don't come down to as intense of a bidding war as games/things where people are just trying to get a low price. If you're selling something rare or something that doesn't show up on E-bay a lot, I think it's worth it to spend the extra 50 cents or whatever it is to put a buy-it-now on the item at a price in the higher range of what the item has gone for, even if it's a price you don't expect to get. Some people don't want to deal with the hassel of bidding and waiting, so you can catch people that way pretty often.

I am most likely going to list a factory sealed Shadow Hearts as my first one. I was thinking about starting it a $5. It seems to move pretty well.

I always like to end my auctions on Monday or Tuesday nights. You get the weekend bidders and the people who watch at night. I also sometimes run 10 day auctions to get both weekends, but usually 5 or 7 as long as I can get the end time when I want.

eBay is not as good as it used to be, but good luck.
