Within the next year or so, what would you like to see more of from the Xbox Live Arcade? If you chose 'other,' be sure to elaborate.
I would like to see more independent studios making games instead of dozens of old games being remade.

I want to mix up Old School Classics with 4 Player Multiplayer. Castle Crushers is an amazing step in the right direction, that's for certain. It looks damned amazing!
What's more, and I know it's full of rights issues, but I wish some of the best Konami and Capcom multiplayer brawlers from the arcade could hit Live. What I wouldn't give for a multiplayer co-op version of Capcom's D&D arcade brawlers, not to mention Alien vs. Predator (such a quarter muncher, really primed for a bevvy of accomplishments!). And for Konami? I'd say the X-Men arcade game would be one (so damned good, up to 6 players) along with The Simpsons (hey, why not?).
The TMNT games could be a prime target too for Konami, and...well, most of Capcom's brawlers would fit (King of Dragons, Final Fight, Final Fight 2, Final Fight 3, Knights of the Round, their KotR variation based on Asian legends, etc.)...
And some SHMUPs. Co-op old-school SHMUPs would be quite dandy. And if SNK's still on board I'd say delve into their back catalogue of SHMUPs. There's so many of them that were high-quality back in the day that I'd gladly pay 400 points or 800 points for an Aero Fighters compilation and such.
Honestly? Most of the suggestions are hot. XBLA is already great but if they can keep up a quality game every Wednesday, mixed with the utterly new and exclusive with the old and the amazing, we could hit some great things here. This is the point in which I think Microsoft could really sink in deep with titles that you can't find anywhere else. If they could financially back and bridge together some parties to make, say, most of the brawlers I mentioned available only via XBLA...that would be a nice way to go.
I'd pay 1200 points alone for the X-Men arcade game alone.

fighters... other than that I hope they just keep taking stuff from up and comming developers since I enjoy the indie gaming world a bit.

I'd sure like to see a game with a built in tournament system, even if it was simple. Uno tournaments would've been easy to run in one night, and SFII would be more competitive.

A new 2d platformer is what I'd like to see happen.

All of the above.
Yeah, pretty much same here. Definitely co-op, unlockables are cool, original games are a plus, creative achievements are good, and multiplayer is always good. I still say I would kill the nearest living thing at any given moment for SOR2 with 2 player online co-op.

Inexpensive games. I want to see $10 as a ceiling.

I'll take the whole menu...
But honestly, I would like to see just more stuff period. I mean it has taken months and months longer than it should've IMO to get a decade old fighting game and simple poker game on there. I'd like to see it open up more for independent studios but also some better cooperation with other publishers to get some old (and some modern) arcade classics on there. The pickings just seem slim to me, maybe it's just that not that much on there now interests me, but with the competetion getting ready to roll out in less than 6 months, I think they should at least try to step it up. If the Wii's Virtual Console works well and is well-supported at/near launch, I may not be downloading another XBLA game for a long, long time.

I would love to see games like Monopoly or Scrabble. How about a game like "The Simpsons Arcade", where you can either play offline and let your friends join in, or play online and allow people to join in the game with you... Same goes for TMNT.

I think the Wii will have the 360 beat in this area. There are only a handful of actual XBLA games that I find playable, but Microsoft has proven there is a market for it. With the Wii coming soon, they are going to blow apart the XBLA. Do you know what I would do to play TMNT 2 or any of those old 2D platformers?

I see it the exact opposite way actually. I already own or have played all the old Nintendo games. If they aren't adding anything to them like Achievements or online multi-player, I see no reason to buy them again. The beauty behind a lot of the XBLA games is that you can play them online with friends. If all the Wii marketplace offers is ports of the old games with no new features, I won't be buying many of those. Plus, XBLA fully supports independent developers where at this point it just looks like Nintendo is going to just be offering legacy games from old consoles.

I voted old-school. 'cause I'm old, and I love the on-line scoreboards. Give me Bubbles!
