Just saw this posted over at 360updates from the neogaf forums. Kind of interesting. Poor Wik. And holy crap, 50,000 people bought Feeding Frenzy?!

Originally posted 7/21/06:
Some of the crazy things that were discovered from the research is that over 20,000 Uno players have not managed to win a single single player game. Somehow people are managing to get a lower score then 200 on Joust, despite the fact that they get 4 lives, and 50 points each time they die. The worst finishing time on the first level of Marble Blast Ultra, is over an hour. Over 40 people purchased Geometry wars between 1am and 2am Central time while he was compiling this list. Cloning Clyde sold 8500 copies on its first day, and 5410 on its second day.

Is this accurate? Probably not. It should be pretty close. Some people have multiple accounts on a single 360 which will fudge up the numbers, and some people have bought these games and for one reason or another not posted a score on the leader boards. This is probably as close as we can get without Microsoft making any sort of announcement.Remember games with a question mark after them are games I do not own, and need numbers for.

Well that at least backs my theory that Wik is the worst game on the Arcade (if not all-time) if you take into consideration that Cloning Clyde just came out and it's the only on with less sales.

I've only played demos of the XBLA games, I haven't bought any of them, but Wik is on the short list of ones I may actually purchase. I liked the demo a lot more than some of those other games.

Well, you can play the whole damn game in the demo so maybe that's why. :)

Wik was actually my first XBLA game, and still one of my favs. Outpost Kaloki's is lower than expected as well. This only takes into account how many different gametags are on the leaderboards, right? Far from accurate...

Didn't realize Marble Blast was so popular, I thought I was the only one

My girlfriend is addicted to the Arcade. I think she's purchased 8-9 games. We'll come home from the bar and I'll pass out, and she'll somehow manage to download a new game. Jewel Quest was the latest. I started charging her for them, since I'd find 1200 point charges on my credit card every other week. Oh well, at least she's getting into my hobby.

And I'll have to disagree Xecutioner, Bejeweled 2 is the worst game on the Arcade. Boring gameplay and impossible achievements. Not to mention its 800 points.

About the best that can be done without Microsoft releasing the figures though.

I dunno if I would count Hexic on that list

Well, you bought it when you bought your 360 (unless you bought the core), so it's the #1 seller. Just like the iPod white Faceplate is the #1 faceplate on the market. :)

That is tough to gauge, considering hexic came out on every premium system, and there is on 500k of those

 Yeah, but it's still a cheesy way to boast the arcade system, showing something you had to get (even though, I guess, every one of those people would have bought Hexic anyways).

150,000 people have UNO then why can't I ever find anyone playing it online. :bomb:

Those Midway games have huge sales... let's hope they bring out more in the lineup like Total Carnage or something else.

I know Midway has Paperboy and some others coming out, but seeing more would be great since they are fun as hell in co-op.

And holy crap, 50,000 people bought Feeding Frenzy?!Say what you want about "The Fishy Game" as I call it, but any kid under the age of 10 would love that game. I'm sure plenty of people bought it so that a sibling or son and daughter could play it. It's great for a certain age group.

Good list and that seems like it would be fairly accurate except for about twice as many people have Hexic. I thought Cloning Clyde would have more buyers, but I guess it will take some time for everyone who wants it to get it.

And it's amazing that Geometry Wars has made almost one million dollars for MicroSoft. If only they would release a sequel now. Oh, and Marble Blast has made over a million dollars in sales. That's impressive.

I also hope this means more people will start jumping on the XBLA bandwagon since there seems to be money to be made.

Wasn't it announced that Uno was the best selling XBLA game?

- edit Yeah, it was.

Any titles that surprised you with their success?

Geometry Wars was never a surprise to us. We knew that Geometry Wars would be our Halo. And it has ended up being that. The one thing we didn't know was the success Arcade would have in general. Uno was a title that a lot of people didn't think would be very big. There was a lot of debate internally about that. Some of us thought it would either be the biggest thing since sliced bread or it was going to be yawn, who cares. Uno is our fastest selling Arcade game in history and it has actually, last week, passed Geometry Wars as our best-selling title. They're both now neck and neck for number one.
