Xbox Live 12 Month Cards, 19.95 at toys r us

I was at my local Toys R Us today to see what they had for those recent markdowns and saw that they had the 12 month live cards for 19.95 and also the 3 month starters for 9.95. I'm not sure if the Original XBL 12 Month cards work with 360, I assume they should, so this could be a great deal. I didn't see this posted in the forums so I thought I would bring it to light. May be a YMMV but I wouldn't think so since it would seem to be a product that they are trying to move out.

I have one, but am still not certain whether or not I can add this to my 360 live account (this card is intended for the original xbox live). Some say no, it won't work, others say it will, while others say that it will override my current subscription. And I got the card like two weeks ago btw(im pretty sure this deal was posted before as well), so this is probably a clearance price.

There are like 3-4 Xbox live 12 month cards, 12 month starter kits, and 3 month starter kits each at the Tally TRU.

I can confirm this works. My details:
bought 360, set up XBOX live account (not a previous xbl user), got free gold month trial.
bought a 12 month from TRU and applied it, and got a year of gold.
The cards at my TRU were not properly marked (none of this stuff was) but it all rang up at the right price at the register. The headset + card + crimson skies will ring up at 29, 3 months 9.98.

i went to my local TRU and they had 1 left. i wanted a second to really fatten up my subscription, so i wandered into Sears, since my buddy and i were gonna check out the clearance games anyway (picked up WarioWare Twisted for 9.97). took me 15 minutes of "i need a manager's approval" and "i don't think we can match this" to get them to stick to THEIR OWN price-match policy, but as evidenced below, i got my Live card.

even though Sears offers a match +10% policy, it ended up being 16.98 before tax. that extra dollar off paid for the 15 minute trying-to-get-me-to-give-up period, so i'm happy.

God, this has been covered a million times. If you have a 360 with a gold account, THEY WILL work. If its expired, call 1-800-4MYXBOX and tell them, they'll activate it.

If you still have a regular xbox, it WILL work. If its expired, same as above...

Yes. Just make sure you use them BEFORE you transfer your acount to be a 360 account, or else it won't work.

I picked up two cards at TRU for $20 two weeks ago, added a year to each my bf's and my account the same day we bought our 360. Used one of our Xboxes to add the cards on to our existing accounts, then did the whole process of moving them to the 360. Worked fine.

Went to TRU today. The only had the 3 month starter and it rang up $39.99. I picked up FF I and II Dawn of Souls for the GBA for 9.99. The FF hard drive for the PS2 for $39.99 and and extra XBOX remote for .98.

Then went to Sears they had the XBOX 12 month with the pouch for $49.99. But had the girl price check the communicator and Crimson Skies 12 month package and it was 29.99. So I grabbed it.

Just wanted to confirm that Sears has the 12 month live kits with the headset and full version of Crimson Skies for $29.99. I just got one and entered it into my 360 - now I'm good with live until March 2008 :D

The box was marked $39.99 so I asked if they could price match TRU - but when they rung it up it came up as $29.99 so no price match necessary.

you mean price match? you'd probably have to try printing out a scan from another member (me, for instance), or just hope that they go for it on your word alone. that's actually worked for me a couple times.

better than that, both receipts show the full UPC for the 12 month sub card, so you're covered. the full package w/headset is apparently 29.99 already at Sears (YMMV), so if you wanted that anyway, you wouldn't have to bother with a price match.

no problem, glad to do it. just keep in mind that depending on how friendly and/or intelligent your local Sears sales team is, you might come home w/ a 12 month kit, or empty-handed w/ a pissed off look on your face. if they hesitate, be firm but polite, and only lean on them if they give you no other choice. i had to be a little persistent; fifty-cent words help a bit too, if you've got a stubborn but slow-witted sales clerk to battle; run circles 'round 'em! ;)

The rep I spoke with on the phone was at Customer Service instead of the RZone, since that would cut down on the knowledge of what they were and their perceived value. She read off the correct description, and went through the other stores one at a time, saying none were in stock. I also double-checked it at another TRU and it came up the same way there.

I'll swing by one on the way home and have them check in-person and see if I get the same result, since there's one on the way home that isn't out of the way at all.

Went to Toysrus only had the 3 month cards and they were $39.99. I tried going to Sears and they were sold out of the Crimson Skies packages that I picked 1 up for $29.99 last time. Tried using the receipt post on the 2nd page and told them another Sears price matched TRU and that TRU had it for $19.99. The kid I think faked calling TRU cause they had him on hold for 5 mins and they said it must be in stock there for them to price match. The TRU is like 100 ft from the Sears so they knew that didnt have it there. Cause why would I go thru all the trouble if they had it had TRU.

Manager was a real b. She said I'm not giving you something for $19.99 thats worth $49.99. And told me some kind of code was missing from the receipt I got from an earlier post.

If I go to BB or CC what is the chance they will price match the Sears receipt on here. Can someone post a TRU receipt that has the price on it? Will that help at all? I never really price match stuff so I'm not familiar with stores price match policies.
