So what do you guys use to protect your DS Lite? I know Im going to need screen protectors, but do they even make them for the Lite, if so where do I get them? And what about cases, Im looking for one thats not a bag cause those wont protect them much, need something hard, although I saw that case you put around your system, and although it doesnt close all the way or flip open 180 degrees, it looks good.

for screen protectors: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-b7-49-en-70-196x.html
i bought this and it works amazingly well. I barely notice it on my Ds lite, and it's extremely easy to put on. i highly recommend it.

I dont use screen protectors. I saw some threads about them leaving sticky residue on your screen. Im very light on the stylus anyway. So far Ive noticed no scratches or marks on my touchscreen at all.
For a case I picked up that mario kit with the stretchy cloth sleeve to fit over the dsl. It wont really protect it much from a fall, but it keeps in scratch free when its in my messenger bag. I also took a hobby knife and cut off all the extra straps and stuff that were sewn onto the case. Now I can fit it easily in my pocket.

Well, look around in this forum for threads about it. Im 95% sure it was the Hori brand protectors that left the residue on your screen.

Yes, there are more than few threads in here about DS Lite screen protectors. Some people had residue issues with the Hori Lite ones.
I am like Puffa and don't use them. I just make sure that there's no dust or grit on my lower screen before I play a stylus intense game, and I'm fine.

Im guessing you dont take it to school and let others play it? I guess Ill just have to let no one touch it and wipe it after every session.

Let other people buy and screw up their own DS.

This is what I use for my NDS

It's been flawless to this very day.
I'm still trying to find something similar for my DS lite, but no avail to my luck. So I use a Gamecase similar to this for my DS lite
http://br.geocities.com/eduardogp23/case_ds1.jpg
I put my DS lite behind the Mesh net. Fits perfectly in there. there's alos a flap where you can keep your DS games. my charger also fits snug in there.
As far as screen protectors go, doesn't it void your warranty? At least using it on the touch screen. Just don't be a kid about handling your stuff. you don't need screen protectors since the DS itself already protects it when it's closed.
I use the Hori lite protectors and am very happy with them. I'd suggest going with decalgirl.com to buy them if you go that route. (If they are in stock there of course.) Ships from the US and you get English instructions.
I doubt a screen protector would void a warranty? Where did you hear that? You can just remove them and it's like they were never there anyway.

screen protectors do not void the warranty.

but wubb, have you tried removing them? What if they leave a residue? I guess I could just clean it

screen protectors do not void the warranty.
Yes, they do.

"The use of screen protectors is not required, however if you would like to use one, we recommend using only liscened protectors. Licensed products always carry the Nintendo Seal. The use of an unlicensed screen protector can reduce the touch screen's effectiveness and visibility, making the system difficult to operate. In addition, attempting to remove an unlicensed screen protector can be difficult and can permanently damage the screen. (Any damage caused by an unlicensed product will not be covered under warranty if a repair is required.)"
So only Hori screen protectors are under warranty, but those protectors are crap anyway. Just don't use them.
I suppose any damage caused by unlicensed products is typically not covered by a warranty, so I guess that isn't too surprising. Honestly though the chances of a screen protector damaging your lite is pretty much nil. Just do a little research and make sure there aren't horror stories about the protector you are buying. Are the ones Pelican makes not licensed by Nintendo? That's surprising to me. But it's really that damage caused by the unlicensed protector isn't covered, not that applying a protector completely voids the warranty. So it's not the same as breaking the seal on your PS2 for example.
Just seems like rubbing a stylus over a screen is going to cause some light scratches no matter how careful you are and a protector for the touch screen makes a lot of sense. But with normal play I doubt you'd get any scratches that would show up when the system was on.
Anyway, I didn't notice any residue when I lifted it up and repositioned it once or twice on the initial application. I haven't removed it since and don't plan on messing with it to check for residue. The protectors are packed with clear backing and many people that complained of residue apparently applied the clear backing mistakenly instead of the actual protector. This is a good reason to buy them from decalgirl and get English instructions...
I haven't noticed any reduction in sensitivity with the Horis and the screens look great with them. I applied them the day they came in the mail and I told my gf about applying them later that day after she had played some Brain Age. Her reaction was "Wait, they are on there now?"

the only people that have sticky residue with the Hori ones are the people that applied the wrong thing to the DS lite, you're supposed to apply the non sticky middle filter, not the sticky sticker...:/
Hori screen protectors DO NOT LEAVE RESIDUE, the ACTUAL PROTECTOR, yes if you are an idiot and don't follow directions and apply the wrong piece of plastic to your DS lite, then yes it will leave residue because guess what? it's not supposed to be applied. Hori protectors applied correctly, which is not hard at all (im pretty much retarded and if i can do it, you can) DO NOT LEAVE RESIDUE...
i did a lot of searching around the internet to find out what was going on with these mysterious Hori screen protectors that leave residue, and 99% of the time the user admitted to putting on the wrong piece of plastic, and of course not paying attention to directions. I was paranoid at first, but when i found this out, i ordered one right away. Hori ones DO NO LEAVE RESIDUE IF APPLIED CORRECTLY. PERIOD.

Ive let my friends try NSMB and Brain Age. Which is funny, cos one of my friends played Brain Age for just an hour or two, and he put up scores that I still cant beat! lol But my friends are adults and know how to handle an electronic gizmo without scrathcing it all up.
The only time I ever worry about my screens is when I see a demo unit in a store. They touch screen always looks like someone used a rusty nail as a stylus.

Whew, good to hear if I apply them correctly I should have no problems at all. Now...if anyone out there would like to buy me a pack from Decalgril, Id be happy to pay them for there trouble?
Would you be paying the 3rd party via PayPal, because if so both decalgirl and play-asia accept that directly.

I'm using the Pelican screen protector and it works pretty well, other than that the one corner refused to go down all the way but it's not really noticable. I only put the touch screen protector on since I'm not worried about the top screen. I try to be careful with my DS but I let my friends use it once in a while and I'd just prefer be safe than sorry. For voiding the warranty with the Pelican protectors it wouldn't matter since they provide their own warranty with the protectors that they'll repair any damage done to the DS by their screen protectors.
For the case, I have a Hori Compact case on its way right now, looking forward to it arriving at the end of this week or early next week.

decalgirl.com takes money orders.. You could get those at most grocery/liquor stores or the post office.. They should only cost a dollar at most.

Here you go. (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97295) As for the screen protectors, I know my local Fry's has the US version of the Hori DS Lite Screen Protectors (I can also confirm along with AshesofWake that they DO NOT LEAVE RESIDUE), if I happen to be in the area I'll swing by and pick one up for you.

Just go to your local check cashing, grocery, liquor or 7-11 store. They do MOs there for anywhere from 0.50 to a buck or so. If I do an MO, I normally use Western Union at the corner check cashing place, mostly for convenience.

From them links, it seems most are giving good critisim to the multi-pouch. I like it and have decided to buy it.

I got somone to buy the screen protectors, now I just gotta get this.
Edit: I got a fellow CAG who goes by the name of "SMMM" to buy me them. I traded metroid fusion, and GS:TLA along with $31 for Killer Instict, Zelda: A link to the past, hori screen protectors and the multi pouch. I swear I am never going back to gamestop. Man I love this site.
