First up is a Soft Jacket Advance(Blue) by Capdase:

What it is, is a Advance technology that combines silicon with rigid plastic so that it snaps on to the DS Lite.

Does NOT block any ports on the lite.

Also will protect your system from scratches & fingerprints.

And it is a cheap way to customise your DS lite, and not look bad like a decal or sticker. Comes in White and black as well.

And last but not least it comes with a leather type strap for for system. The US DS lite does not come with strap. The color is silver, why this instead of white, I don't know?

Eventhough it is made of silicon , it is silky smooth, But not glossy like the DS lite plastic. To me the best part is ,there is no rubbery feel at all! and you can completely close your DS.

Installs very quickly(1-2 min. max), although I did have a problem with taking off.(the 1st time)

I would say that this product is excellent for those that hate putting their systems pouches & cases, when on the go.

Next up is the Stretch Touch Pen Lite by Moritoys:

Well there is not a whole lot to say about this one, if your looking for a better stylus that the one that come with the lite(although it is better than the on that came with the original ds), this is it.

First off it is a Officially licensed product so no worries there.

It is a metal stylus with a plastic tip.

It is a nice alternitive for those with big hands or want some more weight in their stylus. These styluses and the hori screen protectors are must haves for the lite.

And it does fit perfectly in the stylus slot for the lite, but not the fat ds.

It also has a nice metalic finish to it.

Well my final thoughts on this one are, it should be manditory for nintendo to include these with all ds systems!

question: the part of the stylus that extends out, is that part also metal and how sturdy is it?

i had an hori extendable stylus for my old ds but it was made of plastic and it was flimsy.

thanks.

I've had a MoriToys extendable stylus for the fat DS, and the entire barrel is metal, so it's much less flimsy than the Hori one.

It's all metal except the tips. I've owned the hori plastic ones also , and these are much better.

I also have the capdase case, but in white.

You're right, one of the best things about the case is its smooth non-rubbery feel. It fees like a cross between silicon and silk.

You hit on pretty much all the positives. But there are a couple nitpicky things that are a little annoying.

- The front bottom portion of the case does not latch on securely. Theres a long teeth on the front (right above the GBA slot) that is supposed to grip on your DS Lite, but that part can get loose easily, causing your DS lite to portrud out of the case by half a cm at the front. This is not a problem while youre playing, but can be caused when you try to open the DS.

- The glue that they use to attach the silicon back to the top covering is a bit yellow and unsightly compared to the rest of the case.(atleast for my white version of the capdase)

- It is somewhat of pain to put in the strap through the hole in case

Overall though, it is many times better than my previous silicon skin (known only as the DS Lite Silicon protector case). My previous one, which has a very rubbery feel, collected way too much dust; so much that the only way to get rid of the dust was to use scotch tape. Also the case did not close all the way with it. And the areas around the buttons come loose during frantic playing.

Just the reviews I was looking for! Answered the ? about the flimsier Hori extendable. Yay. Search is my friend -- albeit a sometimes difficult one.

How has the stylus held up since posting in August? Not taking into consideration that it fits in the DSL retracted, would you still go with the generally thinner stylus vs. a traditional pen diameter type?

Thanks.
