I know i can't be the only one. When i was in highschool i used to have plenty of time to play and since i didn't have much money I would really get into the games that I got. Now in college there is zero time during school to get into games and yet I am getting all these cheap ass deals. Anybody else have tons of games that they got but never had time to play? What is the game that you wish the most you had time to play? For me on top of my list is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

Ugh, I totally agree! I'm in my senior year at college, and my time is wrapped up in classes, papers, and projects. I have quite a few games which I've started and have yet to finish. Sadly, I haven't even beaten Metroid Prime yet! There are numerous others, but I hafta beat that one. I may be the only one who hasn't! Just wish there was more time in the day to sit back, relax, and play my games.

I hear ya Mo, but I will go on terminal leave on May 6th (though I still will have classes until May 22nd, but that's at night), so I will actually have 59 days of doing nothing but gaming. I'm gonna love it.

True. College totally takes large chunks of time, and if you work as well you hardly have time for anything. I still have seven games I have yet to open, plus I just recently got a DC, and I'm only into the third mission on RS3: RS for the PC that I got for Christmas.
Five more weeks...

College? Wait until you have a job. I'm lucky to cram in 2-3 hours a week now. In college it was more like 2-3 hours a day...

Take a look at my Game Collection (http://users.ign.com/collection/bigdirty) and you'll see quite a few games that are still sitting sealed on my shelf, from Pocahontas for Genesis, up to Beyond Good and Evil, and numerous more. I've got 20-some still sealed, and lots that I've only lightly played. Between work and a handful of other projects, I really don't have any time to play games, but for some strange reason, I keep buying them.
One day I'll get the chance to play, one day.

I was playing Metroid prime before christmas. I tried to finish it after but I just couldn't. Now I'm playing Need for speed underground but I've got Capcom vs SNK 2 EO, SSX3, Primal, Viewtiful joe, a couple others and I just got a Sega Genesis with 4 games about 2 weeks ago. This semester sucks too between work, and trying to graduate college I gots no free time for games. :( Least I didn't have to pay too much for the games :)

I'm with javeryh on this one. I know college can leave you with little free time, but it only gets worse when you've got a full-time job. I work about 50 hours a week, and then lots of my free time is spent with my with my wife and two young kids. If I can find 3 hours a week for games, that's a pretty good week for me.
Games I have lined up and waiting to be played:
Prince of Persia
Beyond Good and Evil
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
Splinter Cell
Primal
True Crime
Downhill Domination
Need for Speed: Hot pursuit
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds
At least I have plenty to hold me until Onimusha 3 and the next GTA come out.

Wow...BigDirty that's quite a collection you have. Very impressive! And I agree with you totally...I have upwards of 40 PS2 games and 10 GBA games...and I rarely get a chance to play any of them. Combination of a job, social life and most of all, horrible time management skills. :( Many of the games are still in the wrapper. But like you, BigDirty, I just keep buying them and buying them, and I cant quite figure out why. For some reason I just cannot pass up a great video game deal for either PS2 or GBA. Sometimes I cant decide if this website is a blessing or a curse! But dont get me wrong, I LOVE this site to death, for both the deals and the forums...
Great topic, by the way...I thought I was the only one with a stack of games and no time to play them!

Same boat here. College was a breeze, gaming, easily, 10, 20, 30 hours a week. Once you start pulling down a salary and putting in those 40+ hour weeks, I find myself forgoing sleep just to be able to get in a 2-3 hour fix some nights.
Stay in school...and you'll be sure to get your gaming time in. Once you get a job...kiss your gaming days goodbye.
The greatest irony, being of course, that once you have the bank to fund your gaming habit, you haven't the time to stoke it.

So true so true!
I practically have to call in or put aside some of my house projects to get some gaming in.
Between work, Wife, social and house, family etc.. I am pretty much booked and look forward to the weekends.
It was about 2 months ago I took a whole sunday(8-10 hours) and dumped it into gaming. It was so great.
Otherwise I get maybe 1-3 hours a week in unless I skip sleep or some other obligation..
Oh well I have bought so many games since I joined this site and i try to play the most interesting ones first and alternate systems. PS2,Cube, and in betwen GBA..

I never had this problem till I came to this site for the most part, some prices are just too good to pass up. I only planned on a few games per year before, course old roomates and friends expand collections. Now that I work 40+ hours, I make more money, but less time. Though I have been able to sneek my GBA in my office, which helps.

Damn and I thought I was the only one. I definately don't have enough time, and like most people finding this site didn't quite help my situation. I have managed to play a few games recently, and even put aside some studying for classes, in order to play Xenosaga this past week. But I am paying for it now because I have to cram for 2 tests this week and write a damn research paper, not to mention I still have to work every night. Oh well.... I did have fun playing it.

I am in highschool and am lucky to get in 1-2 hours of gaming a week. I own all 3 of the current consoles so it is hard for me to get through many of my games. If what your saying is true, then I will get in like 15 minutes of gaming in college.

*sighs*
So many unfinished games I'll never get around to...
I haven't done too badly with my NES and Genesis, and I think I've finished the majority of my GB games. but I've still got far too many N64 games to complete...and please, don't get me started on all of the RPGs I've bought but never finished.
And then there's my PC...let's just not go there. Ever. :D

Gaming is one of those things that has to come at a cost besides cash for so many people. I soooo want to get in one more game of madden right now or start playing Xenogears, Onimusha 2, etc. But three research papers really bring down the time to play. One thing that i used to love doing was playing a game several times to find different ways through it or to find all items or something. Now, having enough time to beat the game ONCE is an accomplish and there is no time to find all those hidden fun stuff because must move on to the next game on the list. What do most of you do? Do you practice quality over quantitiy and beat the hell out of one game or are you forced to casually beat it and quickly move on like a relay race with the fear that you might never have time to play it?

Of course, i have unopened games for ps2,xbox,gc that i havent played. Many used games for DC,N64,(still havent played the saturn+classic rpg's, i just picked up)It's mostly about time to hook up the games in my room(i keep the systems elsewhere)and ease of playing the ps2/pc. And my time is also occupied by surfing the web/chatting online.

I was into the 8-bit Nintendo through Sega Genesis when I was a kid. I got out of gaming in college, and now that I'm in the "real world" with a "real world" job, I do have the money to pick up the hobby. Just not the time! I have all three next-gen consoles, and if I can play 15 minutes before I go to sleep, I'm lucky. But I keep buying.... I think it's an addiction. Some people drink, gamble. I collect games, CDs, DVDs.

I've got way too many games to play and not nearly enough time to play them.
My current to-play list contains the following:
Silent Hill 3
Dark Cloud 2
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Final Fantasy X-2
And pretty soon, I'll have to add these to the list:
Max Payne 2
Ninja Gaiden
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Breakdown
And eventually:
Sudeki
Full Spectrum Warrior
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Fable
Halo 2
Jade Empire
And that's in addition to all of my Xbox Live games.
I'll be back-logged for some time to come.

Im the same way, got a ton of everything, DVD's I usually keep up with, but when you get video games that take 50 hours to beat, that is like a month on that game alone. Buying DVD's seems like a no brainer though, as it would cost my wife and I upwards of 20$ to see a movie in theaters...might as well buy one.

Amen! I had the most time in college to play games. Hell, I think I spent more time playing games than studying when I went for my Masters. Even though I'm not a big fan of school, I wouldn't mind at all being a career student. It's just so much easier and less time consuming.

I've played maybe 30 minutes or less on a majority of my opened games, and a couple dozen of those I've played much more than that. I've only beaten maybe 1-2% of my whole collection, so I'll need lots of time to do good damage to that percentage.

I wish I had as much time as I did during undergrad. 50-60 hours a week of grad school (cell and molecular biology) keep me pretty much busy. 2-3 hours a week of gaming means I did a good job scheduling. I have more money now, though. I do very much enjoy getting paid for going to grad school. Now I just have to find a way to strike the balance of having money AND free time.....
