I downloaded a file though Demonoid.com using uTorrent, and all the file extensions are .cbr. Does anyone know what program uses this extension?

.cbr is a rar file that you use cdisplay to "read". Five Bucks and a pizza says it's a book or a comic, since that's the popular extension for those types of files. I recommend either renaming the extension to .rar and unrar it, or download cdisplay to read it. Either way, it's a rar file that's full of pics, in jpg, gif or png format. CDisplay will put the jpgs on your screen in fullscreen view, with the ability to move from left to right on wide pages, and to flip through pages with the wheel on your mouse, or the page-up/page-down buttons.

Enjoy your new "book". ^_^

I have StuffIt on the Mac side and WinRAR on the Win side to uncompress .cbr files. No need to rename the file--just set the "always open these files" default to one of the two.

When the program unpacks the file, it should save a bunch of jpegs to a folder. You can then open them with whatever viewer you'd normally use. Just an option in case you don't want to download more software.

Assuming it's a comic, Comical (http://comical.sourceforge.net/) is a awesome program to use for viewing images.

I highly recommend using CDisplay to view these pictures rather then unrar and viewing with a different program. CDisplay automatically stretches the pictures to fit the whole screen and organizes the pictures in order for easy viewing . All you have to do is press space (or arrow keys or page up/down or mouse wheel) to scroll. It is one of the better freeware programs I've found. It's small and doesn't change the registry or anything outside its own folder. You'll be surprised how big a footprint some freeware stuff can have.

The best site for looking up file extensions is http://filext.com/ I use it all the time when I'm in need of figuring out a gile type. As for that type, .cbr, yes, it is used for combic books.

Hmmm...I'll test out Comical tomorrow, but what is demonic.com Mr. Anderson? An offshoot of demonoid or something?

Haha, it was a typo. I realized my mistake, but my question had already been answered, so I left it. I really meant demonoid. Sorry for the confusion.
