Anybody here use this as their OS? I didn't realize I had it, I got it with my XP purchause from my university but must've ignored it because I didn't have a 64bit processor back then.

I already installed XP Pro on my new build and decided that it couldn't hurt to just install this and take advantage of my 64bit processor.

Hot damn!! That sucker started up fast... my start-up went from 22 seconds to 13 seconds!! And shut-down went from 7 to 3 seconds!!:bouncy:

But a good portion of my software and hardware wouldn't work with x64. AVG Free didn't work (unless I upgraded to the paid version), my wi-fi card didn't work, my tuner card didn't work, and Spybot didn't work. I didn't try anything else as I knew I couldn't use x64 unless I could get wireless working (without buying a new $50) so I had to go back to XP Pro. The few apps preinstalled with x64, like WMP and paint, started up noticeably faster. Paint pop-up up the very second I clicked it.

Is it worth it to use x64? I love the speed but not the idea of having to pay for a wi-fi card and AVG pro.. and who knows whatelse.

I should've done some gaming but kinda forgot.:-P

Unless the game supports 64 bit processors, I don't think it would make that much of a difference. I have an Athlon64 3200+. And honest I personally see it as a waste of money to upgrade to XP64

Well, I pretty much got it for free so no worries on wasting money.

If a game doesn't support 64bit processors, then does that mean the game won't run on it?

As far as I know, they'll run. Just won't be able to take advantage of the processor. I think there are some games that are optimised for 64bit. I'm sure someone else here might know more than me
