Starting tomorrow, Target is going to have a temporary price cut of all Indigo colored Gamecubes for 69.99. Also, the Zelda Collection Gamecube bundles will be going 69.99 as well

sj41

Why so cheap and this is definetely not YMMV?

sj41
06-14-2004, 06:35 PM
Also, are there any Zelda bundles left? I can't remember when they stopped making them.

MORE QUESTIONS: Will they be marked this way?

some people are going to get very lucky on this deal....

Raiden_MGS3
06-14-2004, 06:37 PM
They'll be marked with temporary price cut signs in the Gamecube lockup. And I suppose this is YMMV, but it definitely covers Targets in the midwest region. It does seem like the temporary price cuts cover all Targets in the country, like when Breakdown went to 20 bucks when it still retailed for 50

If I can find a GC with Zelda for $70, I will buy it.
I'm only 13 years old and have about $375 to spend however I want. I have mowed a whole lot of lawns.

I paid $150 for my cube, then I paid another 100 to have it modded with a region switch, a Blue LED and a Blue paintjob.

Thats no cheap cube, but I love it so much. Can platonic love exist between a man and his gamecube? ^_^!

I am not going to get one unless I can get the Zelda disk too. I've got plenty of money for it but I have my Xbox with Live and plenty of games so if I can't find it then I just won't get a Game Cube.

Does anyone know if this is available today?

I went to 2 Targets. So here's my story.

The first one had no Indigo Game Cubes and no sign up that said price cut. So I went and had lunch at Chick-fila. :(

After lunch, I went to the Target that was farther away. Once I got there, I saw one last Indigo Game Cube. Underneath it was the price cut sticker and it said $69.99. I asked the employee if I could have any color and he said yes. So I told him that I wanted the platinum. When he rang it up it came out at $100 so I just grabbed the purple one for $70. :)

They didn't have a Zelda bundle but I still got the regular one.

So this does mean that this deal is YMMV but if you have another Target nearby, you should probaly check that one.

Thanks again for the deal. 8)

calling stores about deals is useless, 90% of the workers are clueless about everything. target "temp price cuts" are not YMMV they should be nation wide unless your store just sucks. however, finding a store with an indigo cube in stock is ymmv

Damn, Sorry I got back so late but here's the scoop for those of you who can still make it to Target. This price seems most definitely nationwide...Only problem is you need to get a raincheck if your Target is out of stock. So...Go here-http://www.upcdatabase.com/ and enter the UPC# 045496940010, get the barcode, print it out, and take it to your store. Go to your local Target and check the barcode on a barcode scanner just to be extra sure. Ask an employee if they have any Indigo GCN in stock, if no, show them the barcode and when they scan it it'll show up and the cheap price...Then ask for your Raincheck :D

Just as a precaution get the barcode for the UPC# 045496940027...That's for the black GCN and it will show up at the regular $99.99 price. Show it to an employee just in case they think you are trying something funny.

In most cases you should, but the employee wrote Indigo on my raincheck. But I think I could convince any cashier that he meant something else. I'm going to try to get a GBA:SP with the raicheck.

If it doesn't work out, I'll be glad to send someone my raincheck, only problem is, it says the name of my city on the top, so who knows if it will be accepted at other Targets.

Consider yourself lucky to get this system that cheap, its definitely worth every penny! (I got mine for 139.99 in christmas 2002 and I thought that was a good deal ) I hope the xbox comes down for $60 or $70 soon too ! :P

The official Target policy is they can only issue rainchecks for items in the weekly sales ad. Temporary price cuts and special purchases don't count. However, if you type the item number into the register it'll issue a raincheck for any item with any kind of discount on it, including temp. price cuts. A lot of Target employees (especially the front end cashiers) are not aware of the policy so if you give them the item DPCI they'll issue a raincheck for it

Yeah, if I needed another GC I would get one, but I don't. But it would be a cheaper way if someone wanted one for Modding or something. Don't really know what you could mod it with other than physical stuff. But I would like to have a remote control On/Off button for my GC like I saw on Screen Savers for the Xbox. That is a feature that just should be put into the next batch of systems.

Deal is still working. I just picked up a raincheck at the target in Carson, CA. Way to go on the deal Raiden

the one on sepulveda? if so how many left?He said he got a rain check so that means none are left. A rain check might be better since you can get whatever color you want. :)

I belive it would be :)

Well I'm going to Target

The raincheck won't let you get an X-box for $69.99.. it will be for 33% off. Although it will still give you a new X-box for $115.50, not a bad deal really.

Heh, yeah, I know it wouldn't get me it for $69.99 :D

But where did you get $115 from? 33% of 150 is 50, so it would make it $100.

You guys sure a raincheck on gamecube would work on xbox? The prices are not the same and different system. If it work you could get a xbox for about a 100.5 and Halo xbox for 113.9.

Well this deal is most certaintly still going. My friend pulled it off today, we printed out the barcodes for the indigo cube and black cube. When we got to target tjhe indigo cube scanned for 69, we went up told the cashier and after a little bit of convincing she printed out the raincheck. Then about 2 hours later we went to a different target and my friend got a platinum cube for 69.99 with no hassle at all. I managed to pick up a 45% off raincheck on any game thanks to the target being sold out of ghost recon.

A lady at a target near my house refused to give me a raincheck saying that it's not a sale item even after she scanned my UPC copy which came up 69.99. It sucks.

Yeah, I had that same problem - it's a temporary price cut, so they're not supposed to give out rain checks. Some of them will because they don't know, but you'd have to get really lucky :D

So about this Circuit city deal... when was this?I'm not sure. The guy never responded. :?

I duno if the anyone answered this since I didn't finish reading the thread. I think he is talking about the deal after xmas when circuit city was selling a GC and your choice of NFL Street or Madden 2004 (both $50 at the time) and a $10 GC. That technically makes the GC only $40 but you are obligated to buy a game with it.

hey sj41, I also live near Dallas,TX. I live in plano.

I did see a few GC's at my target the last time I checked for $69.99. They also had a price tag for the Zelda bundle but I didn't see any.

Well, price drops aren't sale items... hard to get pissed at a person when they are right, unless you are a selfish moron.

Just yesterday, I was able to get a raincheck for an Indigo Gamecube for $69.99. Now I just have to find a Target that still has the Halo Xbox bundle. I already have an Indigo GameCube, a Platinum GameCube, and a regular Xbox, so I just need to get the green Xbox. All of the Targets near (and not so near) me don't have it any more, though. And I doubt they would get any more :(.

This is NOT a price drop. Please do not confuse people. Nintendo does not plan on dropping the gamecube to 69.99

Does anyone know if the GBA SP will get a price drop from Nintendo? I want one but can't find a good deal.

Target does tempory price drops fairly often as a matter of practice.
It's one of the things people come in here and bitch about all the time.

Notice, I didn't call you a moron.
I said: Well, price drops aren't sale items... hard to get pissed at a person when they are right, unless you are a selfish moron.

There wasn't any pointed accusation.. I just stated a generality, as without knowing the exact situations you were in, it would be rather foolhearty to state an absolute. Absolutes are incorrect most of the time, anyways.

Any offense you took from that would be directly related to how germane you thought it was to you... just as your latest comment doesn't offend me in the least, because it's not germane in the least.

Man, JSweeney, you need to learn to just walk away sometimes. All you are doing is filling this thread with your useless lectures.

People want deals, not arguments...

JSweeney
06-20-2004, 04:33 PM
Well, yeah...
But I don't want arguments either. The reason I continue these things is to try to reach some sort of mutually agreable solution. There's no reason to try and foster some sort of festering resentment, so if there are posts where someone is still obviously irate with me, I try to talk the issue through. I could drop it, but that still leaves the chance of having someone still angry. That's just not good for the environment here... there's no reason to foster discention unless it's actually called for.

I'm in here because I want what most other people want when they join this website. That's why I didn't want to reply to you earlier , but I guess you just want to gain more post so you do not want to let the matter ends. This will be my last reply regarding this matter.

It is amusing how you explained your writing. To make it short here, why don't you think the same way when reading my post to you. The thing is, had you only pointed out the difference between sale items and price drops it would have been different. It'd have been appreciated. For a person who has more than 2000 posts I wonder how many of them was really helpful.

To judge by the insinuation, I don't. That couldn't be further from the truth. I try to watch what the reactions to the actions taken by board members would have on the environment. If that weren't needed, I'd happily not bother... but since in the past CheapyD has lost affiliates thanks to a few (the vast minority) members of the board an thier actions.
I like this board enough that I'm willing to take the unpopular position of telling people they are wrong, and that some of the deals they espouse just aren't valid.

That's why I didn't want to reply to you earlier , but I guess you just want to gain more post so you do not want to let the matter ends.

No, I didn't want the matter to end on the note it did. I don't care for festering problems or hurt feelings. If by continuing a thread I can try to resolve some of those issues, I'll continue to post in a thread.
That's just the way I work. I have a much higher threshold for when a thread should be chalked up as a lost cause than most.

This will be my last reply regarding this matter.
I love this line. It's so akin to "I'm taking my ball and going home."

Context and historical reference.

Yes, but that selfsame issue has already been discussed ad nausem around here. Being here since Feb. I'd assume you'd have run across one of the many of them.

It'd have been appreciated.

Hindsight is 20/20. I doubt that even if I just said that that someone would still take issue.

For a person who has more than 2000 posts I wonder how many of them was really helpful.

I guess you don't want to end this on good terms. Oh well.

let's get this straight...

rainchecks are NOT for temporary price cuts, because target does not advertise these things. the idea behind a raincheck is that you see something in the ad and you come in the store because you intend to buy it and if it's not there, you're unsatisfied.

if you get one, consider yourself lucky, because your target has dumb electronics employees. just don't go in expecting one when you find out about temporary price cuts here on cheapassgamer or other message boards. i work in the electronics dept. at target, and i happily honor the substitute clause on the raincheck, if it's valid. i TELL people about the substitute clause. hell, i've argued with a manager before on the issue in favor of the customer. i point out all the good clearance games (or at least the ones i haven't picked up yet). the thing that pisses me off though is when someone gets pissed because they can't get a raincheck for a temporary price cut. you can't go to a girl and say "hey, i heard you were giving out blowjobs" and get pissed when she doesn't give you one, because she never promised you one in the first place. get it?

just wanted to clarify.
