Ok so I sell my first item on Amazon marketplace ever. When creating the listing for the item, Amazon clearly lists its commission. So cool, I will net this much and they don't allow you to set shipping so that means people can't pull those high price shipping shenanigans like ebay. This already seems way better, oh and listings are free.

So I sell some speakers which net me $40 straight into my bank account.

Here's the bad part, the buyer files a claim the same day they receive the speakers saying they are not as described and that I have not communicated with them. I respond to the claim that this is the first I heard of a problem and that they started the claim the same day as they received saying I had not communicated thus it is clearly ridiculous.

Knowing ebay and paypal, I know I would have lost this claim almost no matter how much I tried. However this was Amazon. A week and a half goes by and I see that the claim is..."granted". "You are not responsible for this claim or its reimbursement" Holy $@$# Amazon is actually logical!!!!

The only bad side to amazon marketplace that I can see is that items sell slower. They trump ebay and paypal in so many ways. So having learned these things, I plan to use Amazon Marketplace for future select items that I plan on selling.

I write this to encourage people to try out the marketplace and I'd like to know what you guys think of this alternative.

We had this discussion in the past and he was my reply then..

Amazon sales are hard to peg. For the most part items collectors would typically buy do not sale for some of those crazy prices. Who knows, on occasion you may get lucky. Just remember amazon hits you up just like every other site for fees. If I remember correctly they take part of the shipping/handling fee they charge, .99 cent fee, and 15% of the sales price.

On average amazon buyers do not know as much as people who buy on ebay. You have alot of oops my son charged this I don't want it or I didn't know this wasn't new. With amazon terms for sales, you basically have to bend over backwards for the buyers including excepting returns.

Only things I have to add is for the most part I have had a good experience using the marketplace to sell certain items in the past. Normally I would put a bunch of things online near christmas to clean on the closet so to speak. But with the high fees I normally stick to items I know wouldn't get anything on ebay and have a chance of selling on amazon. I used it for a few used mint games and was screwed, by the buyers acting like it should have been new. In the past when I had newer recent games I have sold with no problems quickly. Its alot harder to keep all positives on amazon and you do have to deal with people sometimes who couldn't figure out how to use ebay and think you are a retail store.

All I can say in review is be prepared to get hammered with fees as normal and follow the amazon guidelines to the T...

Yeah, it's pretty much the best option when you have an item that should be worth something but ebay has it selling very low, so you just stick it on amazon. I hope my first encounter with their Claim system is an indicator of how they work.

I never buy anything on ebay anymore, but amazon marketplace I like. Never sold anything, but I've had only good experiences with amazon.
