Finding out what your true ethinic background is?

Last night when i was watching fox news (DC) , they had a report that now you with a simple cotton swab of your inside of the mouth can send that to a lab and that lab can tell you what percentage your ethinicity you are made up of. Of course the paranoid people out there they say they are worried about privacy and discrimination from employeers but I think it would be neat to find out what your really made up from.. Although I am hispanic by nature, many people think I look middle eastern... Honestly I don't know if I do have Middle Eastern ansetory in me. I couldn't find the news link to the report. Anyways what do you guys think? Would you be surprise if all your life you thought you were white and all of a sudden through a test you found out that you had a small percentage of non white in you?

I'm not curious at all about my genetic background. Who I am isn't defined by what culture my ancestors belonged to, it's defined by what culture I embrace, what choices I make.

You can actually buy a kit where you swab inside your mouth, send it to National Geographic and find out more about this. Pretty nifty.

I suppose I hesitatnly agree with you - the notion of ethnicity is defined by a common culture, not biology.
