PS2 - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3150129)Big month for Nintendo and EA. I just wish NPD went by units instead of revenue. Microsoft needs to figure out a way to get these kinds of numbers in Europe (I'm ignoring Japan for obvious reasons). Last time sales numbers were released for the major international markets, there were zero 360 games in the top 10, while there are 10 in the top 25 here.

And until I read the comments on 1up, I didn't notice that the GBA outsold the PSP last month. No big games out in July?

when your PS2 dies the DRE death, ya gotta buy a new one. I wouldnt be surprised if the PS2's sold figure went UP a little each month as more and more people buy cheap new slim ps2's to replace their dead fatty consoles.

Interesting numbers. Even though the GC number is low, I am surprised that it is that high with the Wii out in a few months.

I am looking forward to the EB $10 used PS2 sale in a year or so.

At this point, why bother? Just go without a PS2 for a few months and pick a PS3 up at launch. I know people aren't made of money, but it honestly seems like a better investment.

Also, NSMB must be doing crazy numbers of units sold to be beating out practically everything on the list.

People seriously buy the same product three times due to mechanical failure? That's amazing.

Agreed.

Seriously tho - I play my PS2 into the ground and only had to replace the really old model with the slim once.

Better investment? Using the words "Better Investment" With Sony Launch hardware is a oxymoron on the scale of Microsoft Works. Buying Sony Launch hardware is the stupidest thing you can do. Everybody knows you wait three years for things to get somewhat stable.

I hope Tekken DR has better sales and gives the PSP system a sales boost in next months report. I'm hoping it's impact wasn't already used since it seems like it did nothing for July. I bought Tekken a few days into August, and I'm assuming many others did, too.

The Gameboy's simplicity makes it perfect for little kids. More and more kids are getting old enough to understand video games (I would say 6-8 years old is when they would start to have interest) so the good sales may continue until they come out with a new Gameboy that's equally simplistic, which I'm not sure if they'll be able to do that.

With Dead Rising, the 360's sales will likely get a boost, also. Everything else will probally stay the same until it gets closer to the holidays.

$130 to pay for the games you want or $500 to play games you don't?

I thought it was around 600 for the good one. 670 if you include taxes. 770 if you include the crappy madden game that will be at launch and a extra controller for your friend to bum a game off of you. That's only a worst case scenario though.
