Hey guys, just wanting to get your opinions. I made a potential trade with user Areialflame619 , and I was trying to PM him today, but I was greeted with the message, "Areialflame619 is not accepting PMs" or something to that note. Should I even take the trade seriously anymore, or just try to peddle my wares elsewhere (PSP 1.5 bundle)... nobody's sent anything to my knowledge yet, so I'm just wondering what you (hopefully a mod will chime in) think I should do. Thanks!

You might as well forget about it for the moment because he's currently banned.

I dunno what he was banned for, but I recall him trying to make tradelists even though he was a newbie. *shrug*

lol - the same _exact_ thing happened to me with this guy. He offered to sell me Guitar Hero w/ 2 guitars for a really low price, with _free_shipping_ (odd for such large items). When I questioned this he got a little shady, and I asked that he send first. He begged that I give him at least $20 - and in mid reply, I found out that he couldn't accept PMs (just as you did) and I saw he was banned.

Glad I didn't bite on the transaction before he got banned. I looked his post history up, though, and he claimed to have _all_kinds_ of stuff people were looking for.

I'd be interested to hear what he got banned for, but I think I already know :).

Yup. And it looks like his iTrader was done by 2 also banned users. Gotta love the details in the remarks too. Yup. I'd just move on.

I think he meant that he made 2 other accounts and just gave his account free feedback.

Wow, thanks for the responses, guys! I'm glad I figured that out... and he did ask for $30 paypal, initially $50. Good thing I didn't pay. That would've been a fun 2 months waiting to get a fraction of my money back!

Yeah - when I asked him to send first, he begged me to send $20 paypal immediately. My fucktard alarm went off immediately.

I dont understand why not, anyone could pick an ebay username with high feeback, and sign up as that username and say its them, and make there tradelist look all professional. Then they sell a bulky item as ask for paypal first. So glad no one has done it yet.

He PMed me and offered to sell me Burnout Legends and Fight Night:R3, both for the PSP, for $30 shipped. Seemed too good to be true, so when I checked his feedback and saw that he had two feedbacks from accounts that were started the day before it set off a red flag. I then checked out some of his posts and saw he was looking for a PSP and pretty much knew then it was some kind of scam, so I notified a Mod. Didn't mean to be a rat, but I've been trading here long enough to smell something fishy, and we don't need that kind of crap on these trade boards.

They were all the same user, which violates the TOS for CAG. One account per person.

No one should get banned for that, there isnt even a list of rules around here >_>
When you give yourself feedback, it's a violation of the CAG TOS, because you're posting false information about trades, which isn't allowed.

I didn't even notice that. Yeah, I think giving yourself feedback is definitely going to get you the banhammer.
Which is why he was tossed out the door.

I think he meant that he made 2 other accounts and just gave his account free feedback.
That's it exactly.

Wow, I'm really glad it seems like this kind of stuff doesn't happen alot around here.
We do what we can to try and prevent this from happening.

Rule #1: If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. And macabee72 wasn't the only one who PM'd a mod about this same behavior, so when more than one person smells something fishy, it usually is.

Situations like this are why we stress CTR for working through trades, since anyone can pull a ficticuous eBay feedback link out of their ass and say that it was them.

Exactly. False Feedback to inflate your rating is 2nd only to actually ripping off fellow CAGers in my book as far as offenses go. If you suspect anyone of doing this, please PM myself, shrike, or another mod and it will be investigated.

If only I had known this a few days earlier....

Did you get ripped by the guy? Check the FAQ for information on possible legal recourse.
