i've used the service a few times but i've always had to pay the normal $3.95. this is the first time i've seen them give away free repairs. they sent me an e-mail and told me to tell everyone I know. i think its only for a limited time. they do a great job.

I want to bump this topic to confirm that the service does work, and work extremely well.
They send you a prestamped envelope, you tuck the game inside, and a few days later they'll send you the game, playing just fine. I suppose it could take a bit faster (all together it took about 2 weeks), but you've survived without that disc for awhile already, another two weeks shouldn't be a big deal

I might start buying more used items now. Just start factoring in the cost of spiffy disc into the amount I'm paying if its a messed up disc. Sadly I have no disc that is in need of this service at the moment.

Hopefully they are good at what they do. I'd hate for your MvC2 to come back in worse condition!

Yeah, that's why I'm gonna wait for a few more reports first.
