The weird thing is, every time I see King of the Hill I like it, yet I just won't watch it with any regularity. It's like there's some apathy field it shoots out of the credits that make me disregard liking it and go "meh" when it comes to watching it. It's not like it would be hard to catch it, either. Truthfully, its not like I hate the show but I just don't find most of it funny. If nothing else is on, I'll leave it on the background while I'm doing something else but I don't go out of my way to watch it nor would I ever consider getting the DVDs.

That's how I feel about Family Guy. And don't get me started on American Dad.

My opinion toward those shows is that Family Guy has done all the jokes they can and now they're just switching out how they tell the joke (same way I feel about the Simpsons). American Dad is just Family Guy with a different dad-type.

That's true to an extent. B&B is much more outlandish than KotH, but both of them are based more or less on finding humor in everyday situations. B&B managed to stay fresh (IMO) while KotH "jumped the shark" a long time ago.

I'd say that's one of the biggest misconceptions about Beavis and Butt-Head. Sure they do stupid stuff, but there is intelligent humor, valid social commentary, and other knick-knacks of cultured humor within it. It's definitely a show about idiots if that's what you make it to be.

also, ive gotta start trading some of my games for some more "pick up and play" style stuff. I'm sick of having to restart and readapt to games. I just want to put the disc in, pick the level i want, and enjoy myself Dag Nabbit!

also, new law in the world of gaming: every game needs a level select. It seems like less games are doing this now, and instead are focusing on "episodic sequences" style...

Ok, read the thread, gotta chime in about KoTH.

I think B&B is great, and it had a lot of potential, but Judge really did take it in every direction it could go. Thankfully some people realize it's more deep than it looks on the surface. If all you see if the occassional clip and it's just them laughing at something, of course you'll think it's shallow. But the characters did quite a bit and really had a surprising amount of dimension.

KoTH isn't meant to be the next B&B, although it's obvious Judge put in some of those elements for B&B fans (for example, the red headed kid who just makes the one sentence statement, but I forget his name....but he's a hilarious character...."Your dad lost his job."). It's not just about hicks in the same way B&B isn't just about stoner 90s generation.

Beyond that, KoTH has more depth by default because it's meant to - it's half hour episodes instead of 7-10 minute shorts. It has more characters and a more persistent story, and it's meant to comment on various things.

My favorite episode, easily, is when they all become firemen. God damn that episode is brilliant. Especially where they are telling their own story of what happened, and the flashback all takes on elements and characteristics from the speaker (Dale talking shows Dale very muscular and with long, flowing hair).

Another favorite is 3 Days at the Kahn-do, where they go to Mexico and end up having to cross over the border illegally back into the US.

The humor comes from the fact that...First of all, as a Texan, I can directly attest to half the characters at least. And the kind of shit that happens on the show - which is very boring and mundane - does seem like everything at the time it's happening. I know I've seen people get excited about shit like a new lawn mower or giant new garbage can. So all of that is very true to life, and I'm willing to bet more people can relate to the show if they pay attention to it.

Then there's the one-liners, which I think are truly masterful. When Bobby gets gout, as they fill out medical applications at the doctor's office, Peggy says "Bobby, we gave you a dumb middle name."

I still cry at that one.

Another favorite exchange:

Bobby> (says something about soccer)
Hank> Bobby, there's something I need to tell you. Soccer was created by old European ladies to keep themselves busy while their husbands were at war.
Bobby> Why do you have to hate what you don't understand?
Hank> I don't hate you, Bobby.
Bobby> I meant soccer.
Hank> Oh, yeah. I hate soccer.

There's thousands more I can't think up at the moment.

Finally, I just want to mention that Mike Judge is a genius. An absolute genius. I feel kinda bad for the guy because he gets tagged incorrectly quite a bit, I'm sure. Plus he has huge confidence issues, apparently. I think I remember him saying he thought B&B was a terrible idea and that he thought it would fail. Same with KoTH and Office Space. But he's just so goddamn amazing, because he nails characters and stereotypes into a persona where every. last. person. watches and says "Oh man, I totally know someone like that in real life."

I mean, there's always the girl in an office who says the same thing the same way every other second. There's always the guy who mumbles a lot really fast and says a lot of nonsense in relation to the discussion at hand. There's always the one guy in the neighborhood that's a total straight arrow sort of guy, good with tools, and is in love with his job (a love that no one else can fully understand). There's always that one kid in class that was kind of an asshole and talked in a low, quick, and to-the-point voice ("You've got ants.").

In every last project he works on, it's not just that the writing is funny and the situations are insanely hysterical. It's that every character feels so real. They don't come off a stiff stereotypes or bigger than they are. They just are, and they always will be. It's this strange sort of eternal timelessness.

I think that's what makes KoTH (as well as OS and B&B) so great - the humor in it is completely self-enclosed and perpetuated by itself. It's recursive. That's what Simpsons used to be - Homer did something stupid, but it worked in the framework of the Simpsons universe. Instead of what the show is now, which is a bunch of stupid one-liners taken from other bullshit sitcoms AND a lot of references to pop culture, KoTH's jokes are coming from the fact that everyone can relate to what the characters are doing. In 100 years, when we've got flying cars and shit, you could still watch it and laugh at the inanity of what's going on, whereas those people won't know who the fuck Christina Aguilera is and won't understand why Enron is something to poke fun at.

Instead, they'll laugh at Peggy for being so headstrong such that she makes ridiculous comments. They'll laugh at Hank because he's putting up with idiots around him. They'll laugh at Bill because he's a perpetual loser. They'll laugh at Bobby because he's so damn weird.

Humans won't change at all, so everyone will relate to the show down the road.

Anyway, I think I've talked enough. But at least during the time I typed that, my eye calmed down considerably. It was fucking killing me, shit.

I've been watching koth alot now that its on fx at 10 in the morning. I like it. Hank having to get ass plants. Peggy thinking she's hot. Hank being a pimp. Propane and propane accessories.

I always liked the fact that Tom Anderson from Beavis and Butt-Head became Hank Hill, and of course the red-haired kid that conjures the spirit of Butt-Head.

There's some other things I've noticed that originated in B&B that found their way into KotH: Hillbilly guy that looks like Dale, one of Todd's friends that looks like Boomhauer, and other little things that are of interest (re-occurring minor characters in both shows, etc.).

At least Mike Judge said that he was interested in bringing back Beavis and Butt-Head in some way, shape, or form (most likely another movie).

Yet thinks that writing a resume is gonna help him land an office joke because "after all, I can at least type". I honestly don't care anymore that he thinks I'm attractive and vice versa. I swear, I'm fucking over the "woe is me" emo bullshit he would always pull up all the time...

He still pissed that I wouldn't just up and leave my partner and go back with him to SC when he visited me Halloween of 04. I hope to god hes put me on his ignore list. I wouldn't be suprised if he msgs me in at least 6 months saying how sorry he was that he acted like a little brat. Fucker...

GAAAAAHH! Why are people who work in doctor's offices so stupid? I get this doctor's application in and his first name is misspelled. If you're a doctor you should be able to spell your own name. If you work in a doctor's office and you're filling out important paperwork for him/her you should be able to spell your their name. There's no excuse for it!

May 1, 1986
Man. I'm so excited to graduate this month. It's been a fun few weeks, signing yearbooks and going to beer parties and such, but at the same time I keep feeling worried about what I'm going to do afterwards. I don't have the grades for college. Heck, when I talked to the Army recruiter about becoming a G.I., he said I don't even have the grades to serve my country. I sure don't want to work at the gas station like my brother.
- - - -

May 2, 1986
Today this guy in a blue uniform came up and gave me a pamphlet. Said he was a recruiter for COBRA, an outfit a lot like the army but without all those government regulations to slow down the fun. We talked a little and he said he liked the cut of my jib, thought I'd be great COBRA material.
- - - -

May 15, 1986
Signed up with COBRA today. I got real excited when they said I earned a signing bonus... figured it would be a couple hundred bucks that I could put toward a new bumper for my truck. Nope. Just a t-shirt with a funny-looking snake on the front. And I'm not supposed to wear it in public. Pretty weird stuff, but they seem like nice guys.
I report to COBRA boot camp out in Utah in the middle of June. The recruiter guy said that everyone around there thinks it's where some crazy old Mormon lives with all his wives. I'm not supposed to say anything about it to anyone. I'm supposed to tell Mom and Dad that I'm going off to work for the phone company.
- - - -

June 16, 1986
First day of boot camp was a bear. All of the other boots seem like nice guys. Don't know what any of them look like because the first thing they did when we got here was give us blue helmets with black hankies to cover up our faces. I'm getting pretty good at recognizing people's eyebrows though.
Figured we'd do a lot of exercise today, but we didn't do as much as I thought. Mostly just running out of a door and yelling "COBRA!" at the top of our lungs. I got pretty good at it. Now I can sound awful scary when I yell "COBRA!" You wouldn't think it would wear you down, but boy, am I pooped.
- - - -

June 18, 1986
Boot camp's still a lot of fun. And I'm learning a lot. Today we did more mental learning stuff than exercise. We received a lecture about our main enemy, the G.I. Joe team. Seems that Uncle Sam is so nervous about COBRA that he set up an elite team of soldiers just to try to fight us. I couldn't be more proud. I had no idea I was signing on with a bunch that was this important. I guess the Joes have stopped us at pretty much everything we've ever tried to do. But believe me, is that going to change now that Steve Loring is a member of COBRA!
Sarge said all kinds of funny things about how dumb the G.I. Joe team is. Like, they just have one person who's good at each thing they do. So they just have one guy who can fly a plane, and one guy who knows how to drive a tank, one guy who can fly a helicopter, one guy who can fight in the desert, and so on. They even have a whole aircraft carrier (for their one plane and one helicopter) with just a captain and one sailor to run it! Sarge was like, "What the heck kind of outfit is that?" and we were all just in stitches. Then this one recruit (I think it was Renfro, but I didn't get a good look at his eyebrows) says, "But if they're so dumb, how come they always beat us?"
Sarge made Renfro go out and run around the track and yell "COBRA!" for an hour.
- - - -

June 20, 1986
Real boring day. I was all ready for some more physical training, but instead Sarge led us into a room full of phones and made us cold-call people and ask them if they wanted to switch their long distance to COBRA. During the break, Renfro asked Sarge when we became a long-distance provider. Sarge explained that we had to do something to make money if we were going to afford a private army with hundreds of tanks and planes and a Terrordome, not to mention all the expenses from the Serpentor genetic engineering project. Working the phones was demoralizing, and people were usually pretty mad when we called them, but it felt good to be doing my duty for COBRA. In between calls, I amused myself by thinking of cool one-liners I could say if I ever got the drop on one of those G.I. Joe bums.
- - - -

June 21, 1986
Awful exciting day today. First we got to do our airborne training. They loaded us up into a plane, and we flew up and then jumped out. Our chutes had the big, scary COBRA symbol on them. It was awesome. But it was hard, because we were supposed to keep yelling "COBRA!" all the way down. It was tough to get enough breath to yell right at first. Sarge says it just takes practice.
After that we finally got to do weapons training. About time! They gave me a rifle and pointed at the target. I held the rifle up to my cheek and sighted down the barrel, just like I did when I went deer hunting with Grampa. Boy, did Sarge go apeshit over that! Got in my face and started yelling at me, asking how I expected to scare someone if I just stood there all quiet-like and shot so carefully. Sarge is a great teacher because he doesn't just criticize. He showed the right way to shoot. What you do is you start shooting your gun wildly and run towards the target as fast as you can and, in your scariest voice, you yell "COBRA!" We worked on that all afternoon, and just before we broke for dinner, I actually hit the target! Sarge and everyone else were so happy for me that they were about to cry. Told me I'd just set the record for marksmanship in COBRA boot camp. I wanted to call Mom and tell her the good news, but she thinks I work for the phone company.
- - - -

June 22, 1986
First Payday. No check, just a couple more of those t-shirts. Doughty and me planned to drive into town and sell the shirts for spending money, but Sarge caught wind of our plan, reminding us that we weren't supposed to let anyone see the t-shirts because then they'd know we were in COBRA.
- - - -

June 25, 1986
Tank training today! Wow, it was great! They didn't let us drive the HISS tanks ourselves, but we got to practice riding in the back turret and working the guns. By now we all knew what we were supposed to do without being told, and Sarge said he was so proud at the way we all just yelled "COBRA!" and shot wildly before he even showed us how.
Renfro tried to ruin the day with a whole bunch of his questions. First he asked Sarge why our combat fatigues were sky blue saying we're visible from a mile away at least. Then, when we were practicing with the HISS tanks, Renfro started in on why the HISS driver wasn't protected by anything more than a piece of glass. And for that matter, he continued, why do we run the guns from an open turret with no protection at all? Sarge just about blew up.
I think Renfro's going to be running around the track and yelling "COBRA!" for a long, long time tonight.

Judging from her buttery face, attractive body and jaded career choice, she'd be the type of girl you'd hit one time, to see if you could break it. Then you say you left your wallet at the gas station, only to never return -- not like she'd care, anyway.

Killer 7.

I predicted it in that thread on here a long time ago that it would drop quickly, and lo and behold it did.

Okami will get lost around all the other PS2 games coming out in that damn period (Disgaea 2, VP 2, FF XII) and then stuff like the Wii / PS3 will start hitting.

It will definitely see a price drop by Christmas.

Okami looks awesome, but I'm not paying full price when it's going to be 1/2 or 2/3 of the price by Christmas. I'd rather use that $40 or $50 to get something that won't drop quickly, like VP 2 or Disgaea 2.

Time to start up FEAR Combat!

I am hoping to get to that in about an hour.

But now I must tell my story for today. I have had one of the most crazy days of my life today. It was such a grand day I thought of making it's own thread, but I will just post here. I honestly haver no idea this will take I'm just gonna type and vent everything.

This is all regarding that drilling job I was going to get. I star out waking up at about 9 AM and take my bros. to work at 10AM. After that I decide I should drive to Elko to put in my application for the drilling job. I talked to the lady on the phone the night before and found out I would make $15 an hour plus $40 a day to cover food and other expenses as you are out of town while working. the schedule is iffy. You work 21 days straight 12 hours a day, or until the job you're doing is done. That is then followed by 7 days off. SO you work 3 weeks then got 1 week off. THe thing with this job is that you make so much fucking money in overtime. You make 4 hours of overtime pay a day which overtime at $15 I will be making around $22 an hour. Then plus after 40 hours a week it is all overtime and working 12 hour days you will reach that 40 hours after 4 days so that means you will be working 3 days that will be all overtime.

Now that how much I will make is out of the way time for my story. (I told you this would be long)

Pretty uneventful the 2 hour drive to get there. until I actually get there. I had directions to take off of exit 303, but there was road work on that exit so I am driving around town trying to find that place as my directions are now useless. I do find it, it was alot easier than I thought it would be. When I get there this is when things go downhill. I walk into the place and I have some sunflower seeds in my mouth, and I have to sit there for 5 minutes before someone finally helps me. The boss says "can I help you?" I reply ya I came here to get an application. He says "here ya go, but maybe next time don't come in with seeds in your mouth and excpecting to get a job." I reply, "I didn't know this was some suit and tie type of job." He then tells me to just take the APP. and bring it back later.

I just drove 2 hours and am thinking how fucking awsome it is that I just drove all this way and some asshoel big shot is ruining my chances. I go back to my car and fill out the app. I can see him peeking out his window every so often then looking back to some other guy in his office. I figure he is in someway mocking my un-profesionalism. Which it is a fucking dirty drilling job so I figured something like sunflower seeds wouldn't bother the guy.

20 minutes later after filing out the app I bring it back in and give it to the lady at the desk. I ask her if I can go back and talk to the boss guy, I wanted to talk to the guy and show him I'm not just some punk kid, and to just start off on a better foot. Cuz if that guy doesn't like me I doubt I will get the job. She replies to my question with a stern "No." At this point I was about to grab my app from the desk and tear it to shreds as I am sure my chances at getting this job are slim to none, and slim just left town.

I just leave go to a subway to eat and hit the road back home. After driving for about 45 minutes I get to a rest stop as I have to piss. I check my cell phone and see that I have 4 missed calls. I have no idea who's number it is so I call it back, adn guess what? It's the drilling company calling me saying they can put me to work tomorrow. Now I am stunned. I am sitting in a rest stop parking lot just going "duuuuuuuhhhhhh.... I don't know george." I tell her let me think on this for 10 minutes and call you back. My mind is rushing. My life is changing in just a 10 minute phone call. On one hand I am stunned, thinking all the riches can be available starting tomorrow. I could just turn around give them all my info get a motel room and start working for them at 6 AM tomorrow morning. On the other hand I have my life. My current job has no idea about this, I have been working there for 2 years and they have been good to me. I can't just up and leave on them with out a notice.

My emotions just totally flipped. From being pissed because I wasted $40 in gas money and wasted all day trying to get a job I will not get. I am now happy and yet confused at the same time.

After that 10 minutes I call her back and say I can't start tomorrow. I have a current job and I don't want to burn any bridges. So let me get back into town and talk to my boss. At this point it is about 2:30 PM. She says well call me back before 5PM when I leave with your decision. She then tries persuading me more saying, "This is your opportunity a guy just literally called and quit and we need to get someone out to that job ASAP. Your next window may not be for another month or so when we need to higher someone else." I really start thinking then and jsut tell her my decision is the same and that I can't just up and leave like this in a days notice. So I am hauling ass going 90-100MPH the whole way trying to make it back in town before 4:30 so I can talk to my boss. He is a reasonable guy so maybe he will let me just leave without a notice and be reasonable and understand this oppurtunity I have here.

I am hauling down the highway and after half an hour realize I forgot to piss at the rest stop. I still have another good 45 minutes before I get to town and it is 3:30PM And I never would have saw this coming but there was an accident on the highway and traffic is at a stand still. I am sitting in traffic about to piss myself, and am also in a hurry to get back to town and talk to my boss. My leg was convulsing from trying to hold the piss so long. And I am just sitting there!

I finally get away from the slow down and driving by the wreakage I realize probably every state trooper was at that accident. (There was about 10 cop cars there, and I only seen one my whole trip the way up) So I am now going 110MPH the whole way trying to make it back so I can piss mainly and then talk to my boss. With about 15 minutes to go I can't hold the piss no more so I pull over to the side of the road. There is alot of traffic so I can't just get out of the car and piss. I notice I have a 1/2 full cup of pepsi left from subway. So I whip my pants down and start peeing in that cup.

This peeing part deserves it's own paragraph. I don't know if you have ever tried peeing ito a cup while sitting in a seat, but it is pretty tough. You kind of have to pull and bend your penis to angle it into the cup. I start going and it feels so good. I then realize that cup is filling fast and before I know it my penis is still pissing and it is floating in a cup of half pepsi half pee. and there is no end in sight. At this point I try to pinch it off and pull out of the cup. And as you know when you pinch it off yuou don't just stop then it is still running a little. So I pull it out and a little squirt gets on my car steering wheel and then all over my shirt and a little on my shorts. All the while there is traffic driving by going "what the fuck!?" Luckily for me it was that clear piss that doesn't really smell. I just drank so much dew on the way up that was really all that was coming out. I pull my shorts back up and put my half pepsi half piss cup in the cup holder, wipe the piss off my steering wheel with a napkin and get back on the road at 110MPH.

I get to my work and wouldn't you know it but the boss has left for the day and will likely be gone tomorrow as well. Which is good and bad. The good is I don't have to talk to my boss while I have piss all over my shirt and shorts. The bad is That I will have to hold off on this drilling job. Which I decided would be the best option. I am just gonna but in my 2 weeks notice when I go back to work on sunday and take it easy the last 2 weeks. I get home throw awya my piss cup change my clothes and take a quick dip in the pool. to just relax for once today.

Oh and that accident was bad ass. Apparently a semi transporting a bunch of corvettes some how caught on fire and the semi was burned to a crisp and so where all the corvettes it was transporting. Some car dealership is gonna be hella pissed. It was bad ass seeing about 10 burned up corvettes laying all over the highway.

Read all that if you like, it is a good story. I just wrote it to get all this out of me and am feelig pretty good now.

This is easily the longest thing I have ever wrote on the internet ever, outside of school papers.

Ok let me sum it up.

I drive 2 hours to go get a job, I paractically get rejected, I get called driving back half an hour later saying I can have the job IF I can come in tomorrow. I still have a current job and a lot of friends there so I can't just walk out on them. I go through a lot of soul searching, I mad dash to get back to my home going 110MPH. I pee on myself and my car's steering wheel. And I see 10 corvettes on fire. All in all I still don't have that job yet. I will call them in about 2 weeks when I quit my current job and hopefully they will hire me then.

The best part was I was going to community college and it helped to cover pretty much all costs. This year I am going to NC State and got a UNC grant for thousand bucks a semester (covers about half my tuition).

Also I hope I can grab some more jeans from Dick's tomorrow. Ten bucks for Levi's is a pretty good deal.

I'll only say that you need to take into account the work. 12 hours a day in the hot sun, man. The pay might be nice but the labor will suck baws. Also, seems like you'll be paying a lot more expenses and taxes than you're giving credit to. I honestly expect you to make 1.5-2x what you are making now if you looked at all of that. Which isn't shabby by any means, so long as you can handle the work.

So good luck with your decisions and whatnot.

Beyond that, the people in the OTT who work out and stuff - if I showed my workout routine, could you tell me if it's too much/little? I'd like a little feedback regarding what I'm doing. Hope that doesn't sound vain/asinine.

That's somewhat the preoblem we had. Some errors occured and they got the idea that my parents made a lot more than they actually do, which if that were true, I don't think I'd need FAFSA. So they were paying 1/3 of my tuition instead of the whole thing.

Ok, here we go. My main goal right now is to build some muscle, mostly upper body (but I do leg stuff occassionally, I just don't feel a need because they are nicely shaped from years of long distance running). After I do so, in addition to my aerobic stuff, I'll work more toward toning. I'm mostly trying to knock off some pounds and shape up, but I know the best way to do that is to build up some muscle first (to increase metabolism).

Also, notice it all says "machine." I can't really do free weights because I don't have anyone to work out with. I'm not going to make friends with anyone there, don't care to do so, and my gf isn't a member of the club/gym I go to. So I just resort to doing machine stuff and adding a little every day I go. For example, I'll do 1-2 more reps, or I'll go up to the next level of weight and try and do as many reps as I can, etc.

Some of these descriptions/names/labels I have are probably wrong, so I tried to describe as needed. Also, the numbers are for the machine, which are always 12.5 LBs. So 2 = 25 Lbs, 4 = 50, 5 = 62.5, etc. (I realize a machine's weight isn't necessarily equal to doing the same thing with free weights, cuz pulleys and stuff change the actual weight you're lifting.)

Also, "position" refers to where I have to set where I sit (since I'm short).

So here's what I'll do on an upper body day:

-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
-----------Upper Body Workout------------
----------Done Every Other Day-----------
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------

Elliptical Machine: 5 Minutes, Low

Overhead Lifts (like, put it over my head and lift straight up)
Shoulder Pulls (hold it at my waist and pull it up to my chin)

5
6
7

Situp Workout Part 2:
I-Frame:
22 Straight Leg Lifts
Floor Frame:
150 Middle

Chest Machine: 14 reps each @ Position 2 (like a regular bench press)

That all seems fine unless you end up absolutely dead after each workout. While it's good to feel the "burn" and be sore, if it's difficult for you to move after said workouts, you should chill out a bit (I learned this the hard way). Cardio is great for you and if you can do them during your non-upper days, that'd be great.

That's kinda the thing. I feel pretty great after my workouts. Discarding the first time I went after not going forever (in which I threw up all over myself in my car), I don't really get sore.

The next day comes and nothing feels bad at all, which makes me wonder if I'm not going hard enough.

What's the rule there? I tend to subscribe to the idea of "no pain, no gain" and the Marine credo of "pain is weakness leaving your body." But generally I have little to no soreness the next day. I feel the burn during the workout/exercise itself, and I'm beaten up pretty badly when I leave, but I recover extraordinarily quick. In a Wolverine like way sometimes.

If what I'm doing looks good, then I'll stick to my pattern of adding an extra rep or two, or trying a higher weight at the end, etc. And just be progressive about it.

Cute girls at the gym make me sad/angry/confused. :( Especially 'cuz there's certain things they do - I'm not convinced they actually work out anything - where it takes quite a bit of willpower to not just gawk, stare, and drool with my mouth open. A girl on her back with a medicine ball between her knees, and she's slowly moving her legs left and right to work her abs?

That, my friends, is the definition of wanting to deal out a little massive damage.

senorwoohoo
08-17-2006, 10:18 PM
Deal out that damage, my friend.

Also, if you want to experiment with more weight, give it a shot. It won't kill you, unless the machines break.

Strell, I hear ya about the girls at the gym. I'm always impressed by the ones who actually do make an attempt to workout. I don't get why some come to the gym and only walk on a treadmill though, couldn't they do that elsewhere (not to complain about eye candy).

It is important to workout your legs at least once through each cycle of your routine, even if you might not have a perceivable change in their appearance or strength really. You can move a significant amount of weight with your legs, particularly in a leg press or squat (I don't usually do squats though) which in turn helps stimulate anabolic growth for your entire body. This well help you tone up and increase the size of muscles even in your upper body. Look up High Intensity Interval Training for cardio/aerobic exercise too, that appears to be useful for building fast twitch muscle fibers. I've just begun training this way in the last 2 months, but I pulled a quad muscle pretty bad a few weeks ago playing backyard football so I've had to back off a little and can't really comment on its effectiveness.

The way the FAFSA works is pretty stupid too. There are many ways to abuse the system/hide assets, and I imagine this is why wealthy families sometimes get so much aid that they don't appear to need. The effect of having a sibling in college is huge too, unfortunately I am missing out on this by a year. My mom was actually on disability for a large part of the last year, and my financial aid package actually went DOWN a couple hundred dollars coupled with a tuition hike of $1000, so go figure.

I am hoping someone sues the UNC system here since they keep raising our tuition (when I went to UNCW a few years ago it was 1600 dollars, now I am paying 2400 at NC State) under our constitution since higher education is supposed to be free or as close to free as possible (there was an article in the paper dealing with a finding about the likelyhood of them losing a lawsuit due to this).

2 parts bourbon (or whiskey)
1 part amaretto
damn that sounds like a good drink...i'm just drinkin ginger ale and whiskey. A good old classic

BTW, I was able to snag the last 3 month original xbox live kit at my TRU for 10 bucks today. That should keep me on Live till the end of the year...

Is there such a thing as internet alcoholism codependency? I think we've both been encouraging the other person to drink this week especially.

We should get on Live sometime drunk and play something lol!

I'm just suprised that my half gallon of whiskey has lasted this long...which is a good thing

Project Gotham would be the most fun choice obviously.

I've been drinking cause I'm bored and a little depressed about being done with school. This is the first time in 19 years that I haven't had the whole back to school thing going on.

I told off my ex tonight. I know I know, Strell you will scold me for even talking to her, but I found out she had been cheating on me with this ugly dirtball.

And oh did it feel gooooooood to tell her off. I just needed some closure after finding out she had been cheating.

My ex actually consolled me and had some good advice for the shitty summer with women that I've had. I have another ex I'd like to tell off, perhaps I should call her now?

Nah I pretty much deleted all pics of her.

She was hot no doubt (I've posted pics of her before, so others can back me up) but the personality ruins it. I wont touch her with a 10 foot clown pole.

Seriously, the guy she cheated on me with is such a dirtbag. Scruffy beard, long greasy hair, obssesed with pot...

I was driving her nuts cause I didn't raise my voice to her once. At the end of the convo I simply told her I hate her for what she did to me. She pulled out the, "So if I killed myself you wouldn't care!?" So I just was silent, and shes like fine, I'll kill myself! And hung up.

She then calls back shortly after yelling at me how much she hates me. I just said its ok, the girl Im getting with now is a step above you, while this guy is waaaaay below me.

Oh no! That's totally not the CAG-way!

Here's the dealio:

1) Break up
2) Do some Photoshop to her, maybe crabs/hurr
3) Tell CAG
4) Cool member Moxio asks for nudies
5) In spite and revenge you post INSANE pix. JimmieMac saves them for future blackmailing possibilities
6) I scream in delight

Sean, is ok, so long as you ultimately cease all communication.

But telling her to fuck off is great.

That was cathartic for me as well when I did that.

It was even better when I called a few friends after that, and they all agreed.

Not only do my friends agree, but the friends me and her had in common agreed. Her reputation is ruined in school as she knows it, and Im going to a college with a girl to guy ratio of 6:1  (I use to think it was 3:1, but I just found out otherwise)

I just like how I'm happy now and shes the one on the rocks. Feels good.

on the subject, is getting drunk and talking to people online/playing an online game with them alcoholism? Although you are drinking with friends and its safer than going out somewhere, they are distant (literally) from you. This subject was brought up in EGM a while ago, and its always been creeping around in the back of my mind

Tangentially speaking, why do some women go there just to plop around on the elliptical machine/treadmill? Especially when they don't even break a sweat? I can't count the number of times I've seen that. I'm trying to bust my ass all over the weights and stuff, and here's this soccer mom talking on her cell phone to her soccer mom friend about how "I just can't lose weight."

 I know exactly what you're talking about. Theres this one chubber at my gym that gets on the treadmill and sets it to about 2MPH with an incline of about 15- which would be fairly decent except for the fact that she hangs back on the handles so far that shes perpendicular to the tread again! Instead of climing up while walking shes just walking on level ground tilted a bit.

Then theres this one girl who is kinda hot... except for the fact that she never shuts her fucking mouth and is talking to everyone at all times. I get there and shes talking to the receptionist. Then I'll go somewhere else and see her talking to someone on a machine while she just stands there. Finally, when I go take a shower and leave I see her standing in the fucking parking lot babbling away. Fucking hell Gabberella, leave the chatting at home and fucking exercise. I don't know why she pisses me off so much...

My gym seems to have a lot of fat Samali, Mexican and black women that just stand on the treadmills for 2 hours talking in what ever language that isn't English. I say standing because they're moving so slow that they might as well be just standing. However, they're generally so fat even just standing should be a workout.

Finally! Just got done freeing up a little over 25 gigs of space on my hard drive. I swear, if I had an XP disk, I'd really fucking think about backing up ALL of my stuff and doing a fresh install.

I just wish I had a 300 gig external hard drive so that i could keep all my music on it, and just use my internal one for games and other programs...

QFT.

The thing I've learned about expensive restaurants? They all follow the same pattern.

1) Part of your entree will not be cooked. It will be raw. Why the fuck do I come to a nice expensive restaurant, and pay damn good money, just for you to be lazy enough to not even cook my fucking food?

2) The main portion isn't really a portion, it's most like a portion-ite. For some reason, the more you pay for the meal, the smaller the actual amount of food you get. Steaks become tiny, you get less overall, all in the name of artistic endeavor. This goes hand in hand with 1 - if I'm spending this much money, you damn well ought to give me a HUGE portion and COOK THE ENTIRE THING.

3) The sides suck. You get the most generic of sides and they aren't ever cooked well. Except for asparagus (which can be quite tasty), everything else sucks. Don't ever eat gourmet mashed potatoes, because inevitably they were hand mashed (which I guess people think is super awesome), so they have lumps and pieces of the skin still in there. And chances are good they put some stupid fucking exotic spice on them, like cinnamon and ....fennel or some shit.

4) The choices are always limited. Hugely, painfully limited. The menu is like 3-4 items long and of those, at least two of them are same, except one comes with raspberry glaze, and the other doesn't.

5) You're expected to leave a bigass tip. In the 20-50 dollar range, easily, if not more.

As Alzar said, "rich people eat the garbage parts of the animal."

I'd much rather just go to a small restuarant that is unknown/hole-in-the-wall type place. You're almost gauranteed to get awesome cheap food there.

It fills you up just the same, and it's not like they give you a medal to show off to your friends that you ate there, or kiss you when you go to an expensive place. In fact, they probably charge extra for that.

And I say, "Well now that you told me that, I'll know who it was when it happens" Which just made her more angry, especially because I said it in such a calm tone, while she was screaming at me.

Hmmmm. After looking at reviews for Morimoto, while all good, I'm pretty sure if I were to blow that much on a meal, I'd much rather go to a steakhouse. My uncle used to run one of the better steakhouses in St. Pete, FL and when we ate there, it was probably one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Now I wanna go down there again.

I was going to buy a new car pack when I bought it but then I realized I only have 300 pts, 100 short of being able to buy a pack.

I should really start playing it again...it really is a great racing game.

My only fear with college starting back up is how my Xbox Live will act.

The school connection sucks for games, because they try and restrict you from playing them. I just make my 360's info the same as my laptop and that seems to work. However, Perfect Dark was a HUGE pain to get into a game (my NAT is moderate) and same goes for PGR3.

Luckily Madden '06, Dead or Alive, Call of Duty (after the patch) and GRAW (versus matches, not Co-oP) all worked well.

I don't even want to think how Prey will play...

As long as Saints Row, Madden '07, Far Cry and eventually Gears of War all play well, I'll be set.

Atleast the connection is good for demos, I'd download those in like 15 min when the classroom buildings would close.
