Rescent ones:
PC:
-PoP:TT
I hate platform jumping :(
-SW:EAW:
Can't finish the escort Antellis(sp?) mission because of a game bug. Only work around is to restart mission, fuck that after I spent a long time building my fleet and taking back every system from the empire in bloody battles.
-Splinter Cell: CT
Just got bored of it.
-SW: Galaxies
Was a vetern from Week 1 (june 2003), played all the way until August 2005. Reason for giving up?
To name a few, Kiddies running and ruining the game economy, lack of support from Sony, bugs, bugs, and more bugs, guild mates quiting the game , friends quiting the game, nerfings shit left and right, Combat Upgrade, NGE, Nerfing professions, making TKA's useless (my tka was a badass) and so much more. Dumped a few hundred thosand credits into my houses to last me over a year incase I decide to come back.
Never reached Imperial Master Pilot... (I think I was 3/4/4/4), I think it was because of that 1million xp requirement :(
-City of heroes
Tried it out for the free month, liked it bought the game, paid for 3 months, did some leveling, got all my characters PENTIONED :( (so it wasn't fun running around as Jill Valentine when they forced me to rename and refigure her)...at the end of 3 months, just quit :| However my Agent K (MIB) hasn't been pentioned :)
-Beyond Good and Evil
Fun game , but stopped when I got lost in some sort of factory like place
-SW: KOTOR
At first my old video card couldn't handle it very well so slow frame rates really turned me off, got back into it last year with my new video card and the game was actually fun. Stopped at the point where you select one of three planets to go to for various missions.
-Star Trek: Armada 2
Fun game , got far into it, but then stopped
-Sims 2
Halarious but then got bored after 6 months, however the new pets expansion WILL get me back into the game.
-Star Trek: Bridge Commander
Did pretty good then STOPPED at that Data mission
-Star Trek: Klingon Acdemy
Couldn't play it because of slow card, new card could play it but windows XP made controls hard
-SW: Force Commander
Shitty Graphics, Shitty game play, stopped
-ST: New Worlds
Couldn't get use to the controls
-Need for speed Underground 1 and 2- New card made it amazing to play, but then stopped... gave NFSU2 a day, then stopped.
-NFS:MW
Played it to death but then stopped.
-Doom 3
Got lost in the dark, stupid flashlight...I hate when they also bring puzzles into FPS. Bought the expansion for 6.XX at Microcenter a few months ago, never installed it
-Sonic Heroes
Got bored of jumping around long ass levels.
-Silent Hill 3
Got into it , then stopped after i escaped those two monster things in that round part of the mall..
-Silent Hill 4
Stopped when I couldn't figure out how to get into the game, felt fucked up.
-Jedi Knight: Dark forces 2: Mystery of the Sith add on
Got lost/bored, use a cheat to skip to the end.
-CNC: Generals, and the Zero Hour Expansion, never really got into single player, but played Multiplayer to death!
-CNC: Renegade
Lost in that stupid town mission :(
-Star Fleet Command 2-3:
Got bored, beat SFC 1 though :)
Dune:
Got bored.
Metal Gear Soild Substance:
bought it because it was the FIRST Game that I saw that finally a DVD ROM GAME!! Too slow for my card back then , but now I just can't figure it out so I gave up.
Knight Rider: The game
Fun for awhile, but had some frame rate issues, so I gave up
Falcon 4.0/4.0 updated version
-Meh
GTA 3, VC, SA:
Fun for awhile but then I quit because I got board of shooting, running over people and shooting down police copters with my rocket launcher..
TMNT 1 and 2:
Had some fun for awhile, but then stopped.
No One Lives forever 2: A spy in HARMS way
Actually pretty good til I stopped :|
007: nightfire
Good game and got pretty far til i stopped :(
Max Pane 1 and 2
Ok games, but never got into them
SW: Battlefront 2
Stuck on final level...Vader is a bitch to control..........
Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix
Beat the first one that my brother let me borrow his copy. Bought this one , installed it, found out my card is too slow for it so I shelved it for awhile, got a new card played it a bit, too freaken hard. Gave up. Haven't touched it since my new card last year.
Jedi Academy:
Played single player for awhile, got bored. Multiplayer was fun til it became a ninja slice and dice fest :(
JK 2: Jedi Outcast
Played through single player for a while. Got bored/stuck somewhere and gave up. Player models , for the time period looked amazing (quake 3 powered), but then afterwards looked to wierd. I think its time for Raven to make a new Jedi Game following the next adventures of Kyle Katarn.

I give up on a lot of games for no particular reason. I've been playing DMC1 on and off for like 5 years and haven't finished it (started over a couple times)

I have gave up on Xenosaga becuase the game was to plain and boring. Also boss battles are impossible to beat.

Gun - I stopped doing the side-missions because one in particular was endlessly boring, and eventually got to a boss that wasn't taking much damage. I admit that I went to gamefaqs because I was already peeved at the game, and found out that apparently I needed to level up more through the sidemissions. So now its on the trade pile. I probably wouldn't have given up so easily if I bought it full price, not as a $9 CC sale game.

Ys: Ark of Naphitism - Stopped because of some of the platforming mechanisms
Bard's Tale - Got bored of it
FF X - Tried 4 times, but couldn't get into it.
Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits - The characters bored me.
Beyond Good and Evil & PoP SoT - Quit after 2 hours into each of them. Might pick it up in awhile.

I have this compulsive urge to complete every mission and side quests in some particular games. This in particular applied to:
-WoW
Grinded my way to level 40 before deciding sleep was worth more of my time. Not that I played 24/7- the game just lacked any real story.
-Oblivion
So many dungeon runs with identicle properties, I didn't have the will to finish the main quests.
Final Fantasy X-2 - It got WAY too boring to play after awhile. It felt like work at a certain point....
Midnight Club 2 - I cant get past this one unfairly hard race. Sucks too, since it was a decent street racing game for its time.
Need for Speed Underground 2 - Gets too boring after awhile....
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Just could never get into this game. Way too boring and overrated. I just dont see whats so great about this game.

We love katamari: After playing the first game to death, it's just not the same.
Trauma Center: I'm about to give up on this game if one of my blood vessels pop from swearing too much.
Polarium: It's a good puzzle game, but Tetris wins my gaming heart hands down.
Metal Gear Solid Digital Novel: Maybe it's because I wasn't there from the beginning of MGS to understand the story better, but i just find this novel boring.

Harvest Moon: wonder life - I like HM games and was looking forward to it, but I don't think I lasted a season before I quit on it.
Nintendogs - played it for a month, wasn't bad, but then I got Animal Crossing and my dog could be dead or whatever happens to them after so many months. May check on him again someday.
Side note for SMSunshine, I need 3 blue coins still for 100%, but then I gotta dig it out.

Super Mario Sunshine - Couldn't get past the horrible camera.

ICO
Seconded.
Also, most RPGs. Just can't get into them. I did beat Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, and FF7 though. Anymore, I don't have the time for epic quests like those entail. Ah, real life.

Splinter Cell - Was fun the first couple missions, as soon as it hit the oil platform though... BLECH! One mistep and MISSION FAILED! Ugh. I have a copy of Splinter Cell 2 that I received as a gift a couple years back, still sealed... maybe I oughta try that just for the hell of it.
Summoner 2 (PS2) Started off with lotsa potential, but gawd it got so.. so... BAD Diablo clone esq that I couldn't take it any more. But at the same time, I really like the Dynasty Warriors series.
Ninja Gaiden. Yes, Ninja Gaiden. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the combat. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATEEEEEEE the puzzles.
Super Mario Sunshine - So tedious, mediocre, TOO DAMN EASY. That last part is why I don't enjoy most of Nintendo's stuff any more.
Metroid Prime 2 - I LOVED the first one. The second's map navigation and EXCESSIVE backtracking make me hate the bastard.
Final Fantasy VIII - *spits*

Practically every RPG I've ever started I quit around the 7 hour mark. I just get very bored of reading/watching instead of playing. This includes FF7 which after starting for the 4th time this summer, I have finally come to terms with the fact that I will never beat it.

ICO - Couldn't handle having to drag around that brain dead bitch.
Thirded. I bought it because everyone said it was so good and emotional and all that. I played it for about five hours and got bored with it. It's like one big escort mission, the combat is awful, the graphics are bad, and the controlls are clunky too. Just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm scared to play Shadow of the Colossus because I think I might feel the same way about that.
At the moment I'm trying to get into Super Monkey Ball but I'm not understanding the appeal of the game so far, maybe I need to get farther in it. I'll probably end up quitting it though.

Baiten Katos - around the 18 hr amark in that stupid dungeon where the garden is upside down and it has the throwback level to Tower of Druaga. This thing frustrated me to the point i was just shaking. I said enough and turned it off and have not gone back.
I quit before finishing most of my games so no biggie really... I cant even remember the last game I completed.

Ditto.
Splinter Cell - surprised at how mediocre Splinter cell was, I stopped less then 2 levels in.
Deus Ex - Story was interesting, but gameplay on the console was atrocious
Mad Maestro - Playing with a controller is a pain
Gitaroo Man - Quit on the last level. By that time, I was burnt out by hard levels. Never picked it back up.

Zone of the Enders 2. Fighting multiple enemies was a pain in the ass to me.Of everything stated in the thread, I have to say "blasphemy" only to this. I recently picked it back up a few weeks ago and am amazed at the awesomeness. And the intro is one of the best videogame intros of all time for me.
This game can be beat it in like five hours. Give it another chance.
ICO - Couldn't handle having to drag around that brain dead bitch.Aww, come on. The game is only three to four hours long. Endure through it.
Thirded. I bought it because everyone said it was so good and emotional and all that. I played it for about five hours and got bored with it. It's like one big escort mission, the combat is awful, the graphics are bad, and the controlls are clunky too. Just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm scared to play Shadow of the Colossus because I think I might feel the same way about that.Yes, it basically is one big escort mission. Yes, the combat does suck. And yes, by today's standards the graphics aren't much above PS1 or N64 quality, but it is still a great game.
At the very least, give Shadow of the Colossus a chance. It is a much better game, though very similar, and would appeal more to people who didn't like Ico.
EDIT: Forgot my own games.
Chrono Cross - Got stuck on a boss, tried to beat him several times yet couldn't do it. I also didn't like the game that much anyway.
Final Fantasy VIII - I've tried to start it twice and can never manage play it beyond that first cave with Ifrit. No explanation for this one. I just stop playing.
Sonic Rush - Stuck on the last boss.
Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix - The language barrier got to me, even though I'm extremely familiar with the original and I used several translation FAQs.
The Elders Scrolls III: Morrowind - Way too much stuff jammed into this game. I'm a completionist so seeing to its end would have killed me anyway.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - ^ Same situation.
Star Wars: Alliance - As much as I loved Tie Fighter, I absolutely could not get into this.
Otogi: Myth of Demons - Got through like the first level and never touched it again.
Advance Wars - I'm like one or two missions away from the end and just stopped.
Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Stuck.
The Longest Journey - Oh my gosh! I really like this game, but everytime I play it I start falling asleep! And it's freaking long! I play it like once a month. There's no way I'll ever beat it.
Star Wars: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight - As much as I liked this game, I never did get through the single player, though I played multiplayer to death.
Silent Hill - I'm like halfway through it and I just stopped.
I'm sure there are tons more, but those are the ones I could think of off the top of my head.

I played through it once.. it was like 50 some mission..... after mission 30 I was like SHIT I AM STILL NOT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and some of these missions were long or hard. I did beat it though. *phew* It takes some time to get into it as you go from a nuetral pilot to joining the rebellion...but sadly we never saw an Empire version of this :(

TETRIS??????????????????? Tetris is one of those games that go on pretty much forever or until you fuck up and the blocks reach the top.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
King's field 2. I spent months trying to beat it, I even had a strategy guide yet I couldn't beat it. I was at the FINAL area. Yet I needed a key from WAYYYYYY BACK WHEN and I couldn't find it. I gave up. And this is why I'm eternally bitter at Agetec

Brain Age - I got my brain to age 22 and couldn't go any higher, plus some of those tests frustrate the hell out of me (namely Head Count)
Morrowind - I could tell this game was gonna be damn near endless, and quit like an hour into it since I didn't wanna invest the time in it.
Ys: The Ark of Napishtm - Nothing wrong with this game. I just made the mistake of starting it a week before Kingdom Hearts II came out.
Dark Cloud - I thought the game sucked, plain and simple
Shinobi (PS2) - TOO GODDAMN HARD!
MGS2 - After Raiden was introduced, shortly after I was so annoyed by him and his whiney g/f that I stopped playing and never looked back.
.hack//INFECTION - the combat blew (non-existant combo system), and dungeons were long and tedious.

I would say that Harvert Moon games don't count. I know that the last unloackable on Friends of Mineral Town doesn't happen until 600 hours of gameplay. Six-hundred hours! So, I would guess that anyone that owns that game can say that they have given up on it.

Dark Cloud - Lost interest after one of my weapons went missing for some reason
Call of Duty 2 - Got Oblivion and meant to start it back up, but I'm strapped for time lately
DOA Volleyball - I only really played the multiplayer for a while
Fable - Got somewhere... Then forgot I owned it.
Pokemon Colosseum - Stolen memory card killed it
Shenmue II - Xbox harddrive died, gave up.
Shinobi - Friend gave it to me, played one level put it on the shelf to never be seen again
Smuggler's Run - Was there a point to this game? I really don't remember
Spiderman 2 - I had way too much fun having Spiderman A.D.D. to do any missions past Mysterio (Also quit on Spiderman 2 for DS, because it blew, and blew hard)
Splinter Cell - See Shenmue II
Star Fox Adventures - Got bored
Star Wars: Clone Wars - Wasn't too fun
TMNT - Only found it fun with friends
Untold Legends - I couldn't even tolerate the game anymore, and I usually like RPG's, but this was just too bland.
Wave Race - Only played it for the multi-player, I don't think I missed unlocking anything anyways

Oh man, too many to count--I was an absolutely awful gamer in my NES days and really only remember beating FF, SMB 2, and Bionic Commando. Sad, I know. Now I mostly stick to sports games. :) Anyway, the ones that stick out:
--Most of the C&C series. I reached the final mission in the original C&C, couldn't beat it in about 10-20 tries, and gave up. I wish I could say I'd gotten that far in Red Alert ... or Tiberian Sun ... or Red Alert 2 ...
--Ninja Gaiden games--same story as above. I still own all 3, and have never beaten a single one. Hell, I had a good friend who introduced me to these games back in the day who was a crazy gamer, and I never saw him beat them, either.
--FFVII--I'm going back to this one. I was playing it on a slow, crappy PC while in college, and I'm pretty sure finals got in my way and I never went back. After recently beating FFX (on my second run through that game), I'm inspired to go back and try to finish the other FF title I own BEFORE I get FFIII for my DS ...
--GTA3. The only GTA game I ever owned, and the only one I'll buy, because the game made me motion-sick. No joke. I've got the same problem with FPS games, which is why I'll never buy one of those.

Man, a shorter topic for me would be what games have I beat?? LOL... I have a bad case of not finishing my games.
For example, I like RPGs. I usually get started, then something tears me away from it for awhile, and when (if?) I go back I usually have forgotten the story up until that point so I start over. Or another game gets my attention and I forget about going back.

Simpsons' Hit and Run: The novelty wore off, plus I got tired of all the racing missions. Not too big a fan on driving games.
GTA3: Just got too pissed off on some of the later missions and trying to do some side missions like the ambulance or firefighter missions and accidently running over a patient on the last level.
FFVIII: I got to disc 3 and got lost, had no clue what to do. However, I just restarted it and am almost to disc 3 with the help of a strat guide to find some stuff I missed.
Chrono Cross: I just got tired of it. I loved The Trigger but this one wasn't as fun. Didn't really latch on to the character like I did with The Trigger.
Black & White: Fun game and all, but I couldn't get the hang of the little nuances.
Kingpin: I remember when this first came out on the PC. I updated a patch, and it fucked up the save games. If you updated, you couldn't play an older save.

I mean, it's worth a shot if you are a Simpsons fan. I just got tired of the racing missions. It's basically Grand Theft Auto: Springfield.
Although, it is kinda cool driving around Evergreen Terrace and finding out where Moe's and the Kwik-E Mart is. I made it to the third Level where you play as Lisa and quit.

Hitman 2: Spotty AI and horrible animation do not a fun experience make.
Splinter Cell 1 & 2: I payed about $5 for the first one, and got the second free. I think I was ripped off.
Sonic Heroes: No. No. No. This is not how you make a Sonic game. Your runner sucks at running, your fighter sucks at figting, and your flyer sucks at flying. Glad I didn't pay much for this one either.
I wish I had quit Deus Ex: Invisible War long before I did. I slugged (slogged?) my way through a game with a shitty inventory, terrible AI, weak weapons, no quick-save(!), and entirely forgettable story. What did I get? 30 seconds of speech from some AI and then credits. I didn't even bother getting the other endings.

Yeah, for those that mentioned something, I have no idea what causes the nauseous feeling (I don't think it's the blur effect), but it's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm basically prone to motion sickness--planes, cars, really big roller coasters, you name it. The worst is actually rides like "Body Wars" at Disney World, where you're in a room that's showing you a movie on the screen and tossing you around as if you're in the movie, but the movements don't really match what you're seeing. I came out of that thing and my mom was ready to take me to the hospital, 'cause I was white as a sheet.
Anyway, that's my excuse for not beating GTA3. :D Wish I had a ready-made excuse for the scores of other games I couldn't finish, but no such luck. Remembering the games I've beaten is waaaaaay easier.

I bought Sonic Heroes when it dropped to 9.99, now its 5 bucks :( So confusing to keep track of all your partners and use them effectively.
DE:IW
Bought it last year, haven't installed it :|
Keeping track wasn't my problem. I just couldn't control my guys. Sonic was always running into walls in the speed areas, Knuckles was always punching his way off cliffs, and Tails... well, he's Tails. He's sucked ever since Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. I'm not even gonna get into the other teams.
As for Invisble War? Don't bother. Everything's been dumbed down since the original. That was a game.

There are a lot of games I've "given up on," but here's some of the highlights/more recent:
Advance Wars DS - fun game, but damn hard. I forget exactly which mission I'm stuck on, but I tried it about ten times and failed horribly each time.
Final Fantasy 9 - I reached the last area of the game but didn't go through and finish it.
Metroid Prime - it was a blast until I took a small break. . .and it's been kinda forgotten since.
Resident Evil 0 - to me it was one of those games you played until you ran across something better and then you tossed it to the side.
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - great game but it was kinda forgotten once I got my 360, I really should go back and finish it.
Honorable Mentions:
Prince of Persia
Warcraft 3

Far too many to list. My attention wanders and before I know it, years have passed before I remembered I'd left the game unfinished.
The one that may be next to be abandoned is Lunar DS. It has a few annoyances that can leave you in an untenable position for things you did far back in the game.
First, bosses level up as you do but they get far more benefit. If you level up too much the boss will hopelessly overwhelm you. It's a bad design that punishes you for being too strong.
In several places you need to stock up on equipment for characters you haven't even met yet. By the time they become part of your party and their equipment critical to the party's survival, the only stuff available pales compared to the stuff back in a location you cannot reach again until much later in the game. Plus, there is a random chance of certain monsters breaking a character's equipment, so you need multiples.
You cannot control which monster your character attacks. This creates a lot of situations where your heavy hitter, who can take out average monsters in one attack, is likely to attack a monster one of your weaker characters just attacked, thus wasting their effort instead of letting the weaker characters work together while the heavy hitter works alone.
They tried to do something different but so far it's more annoying than novel.

ghosthunter - dissappointed me to a very large degree, so gave up. gonna pick it up again to get it out of my "to finish" pile.
hulk: ultimate destruction - really thought i was on the last mission and discovered there was an entire act still left to get through. i'd been doing marathon sessions with the game up to that point, doing all the side missions and such as they popped up and just going around destroying things for kicks. i was almost relieved to be done and suddenly i...wasn't. just gave up. also still in the pile, so it'll get taken care of soon enough.
viewtiful joe - beat it on kids mode, picked it up on the adult difficulty. fuckin great game, but sweet gravy is it hard. as much as i want to unlock the other characters, i have a hard time going through again when i've technically already beaten it.

As a game reviewer, I don't always beat the games I review. I also have a lot of games on my to-play pile. Thus, my list would be huge. But stuff I played in my spare time and gave up on this year includes:
Shadow of the Colossus - Too much traveling from point to point, bad camera angles, and nothing but boss battles.
Kirby DS - Sad to say, but it actually got too frustrating for me. I hate when you only have a tiny window in which to make it past chasms or you die.
Mario/Luigi Parters in Time DS - Got to a boss, pretty damn far in, who needed to be beaten in X amount of turns or he'd automatically kill you. Tried a few times, but now has been too long to have the good timing to ever beat him.
X-Men Legends II PSP - Played about 14 hours. Game is too long for its own good, as it's the same thing over and over. May have stuck with it if playing multiplayer.
Kingdom Hearts 1 - Bad camera and some lame levels. Didn't last long.
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath - Not sure why I quit. I really wanted to see "the twist."
Tetris on Xbox Live, I had this soccer mom POWN my ass hard. She laughed at me and said it was alright and that it happens. I almost wanted to cry. I have never played tetris at all since that day.
Similar experience: An ex-girlfriend's mom used to whup my ass at Dr. Mario. It was the only game she'd ever play. I thought I was good at it, but she showed me otherwise.

I'm adding a few to my list.
.hack//Mutation and the rest of the series - I played the first one, Infection, TO DEATH. Unlocked every single insignificant thing, had amazing equipment, very high levels, tons of money, 99 of most items. Then, when I played Mutation, I was so burnt out from the first one I couldn't stand it. I still want to play through the whole four game series, but I don't think I ever legitamitely will, meaning I'll probably cheat my way through just to see the cutscenes and skip the horrible gameplay.
Viewtiful Joe - The stage I was on was too long and too hard, so I gave up.
Crap, there was one more I was gonna list. Can't remember it right now.

MMORPG's you can't beat because 1, game bugs break it, 2, leveling takes forever, 3 developers change/fuck things up.

Add a few here:
Sonic Rush (DS) - The final boss has a few instant kill moves, regardless of ring possession. Really just runied the game as it's pretty much not in the spirit of Sonic games. Darn shame too, since it's easily the best Sonic game since S&K.
Sonic Heroes - Got it for $5 at Sears. I paid too much. I played through Sonic Adv. 1 & 2 on the DC, and figure I could muscle my way through this, but it's jsut painful. I hope Wildfire (or wahtever its new name is) is actually fun.
Trauma Center - I don't necessarily need to stab myself in the heart out of frustration... or my DS Lite's touch screen.
LoZ: LttP (Gonna be shot for this one I know) - Really more on an extended break from this one. After beating Wind Waker, I went back to start to play thought most of the older Zelda games (I had played and owned them all, but never beaten any of them). Beat Zelda 1, LoZ:LA, and started LttP then something else came out.... I think Mario Kart DS. Haven't booted it up since.
LoZ:OoT (REALLY gonna be shot...) - After playing Wind Waker, I just can't deal with OoT's and MM's sloppy controls. WW is so tight and beautiful; I wish I had sat down and just beat the N64 ones before playing WW.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat - I only played it a few times, but my friend is amazing at it and I knew I'd never be able to do even 1/4 of the stuff he was doing. Oh well.
Kirby Canvas Curse - Much like Sonic Rush, just never got around to beating the final boss. I really should, though. I really liked that game a lot.
Ikaruga - I suck. A lot.

I'm not gonna shoot you. I loved Wind Waker, and went back to replay Ocarina and Majora only after beating it. The lack of camera control totally cripples the N64 games. I still beat Ocarina, though. Oh man, so many to list...
I've been really bad about beating games the past few years. I always try to convince myself that I love RPGs and can play them forever, but almost inevitably I'll get stuck or just tired of playing, or another game will come along that takes my attention. It's a lot harder to play a game like that at college - too many distractions and not enough time to devote 30+ hours to an RPG.
Recently, though?
Disgaea - I like the game, but whenever I think of playing it, I think of how long it's going to take just to fight one battle, and I get discouraged.
DMC3 - I can't get past that stupid fucking Cerberus boss in the third level, which embarrasses me.
Fallout - I love these games to death, but I'm not used to such extreme open-endedness that it gets difficult to figure out where to go. Also, I find it's really easy to get yourself into situations where you're too low-level to survive.
Brothers In Arms - Great game, got towards the tail-end of the missions, but I lost my saves in a format, and since then I've had no desire to replay all those missions again.
Many JRPGs - Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean (SNES), Front Mission, etc etc. I just can't do it anymore. I don't have the patience I had when I was 15.

?
A)The camera part I didn't like in Shadow of the Colossus was when you were auto-targeting a boss -- it swung wildly, if memory serves.
B) When you only have an hour or so to play each night before your wife falls asleep (I'd always play with her watching/helping), spending eight minutes riding a freaking horse is not fun. And 8-9 hour games can take weeks to beat at that rate.
C) It just wasn't fun for me. I know it's beautiful and unique, but to me (and quite a few other people I've talked to), it's much better in concept than execution. I felt the same way about Kingdom Hearts 1 -- high review scores be damned. Not fun = not going to play. Ico didn't hold my interest, either -- partly due to my hatred of escort missions.
That's what happens with art: Some dig it, some don't. The difference is, if I don't like a poem or painting, I've wasted a few minutes. A TV show or movie, maybe an hour or two. But if I don't like a game, I'm not going to keep playing for hours of discontent unless I'm really motivated for the payoff.
As I amass more games, that payoff needs to be bigger. Thus, I don't finish a lot of RPGs anymore.

Megaman & Bass GBA.
This game made me realize that I had become "out of shape" in terms of retro platformers, and I put it down for some time because of its difficulty.

I stopped playing Majora's Mask right before fighting the boss of the water dungeon... Really ought to get back to that.
That's where I stopped too! I just lost interest in the game, but I should pick it up someday.
In addition to Majora's Mask, many of my games have been previously mentioned.
-Viewtiful Joe - I'm on the level after Bruce...I just can't pull myself to finish it. It's a shame I binged and bought VJ2 as well.
-FFX-2 - I'm on chapter 5. I just lost all will to play it, but a little bit of me wants to resume playing it just to find out what happens with everyone, if there is a conclusion. I will skip all the sidequests because I just don't care about them.
-Wizardry V - good God, this game was BORING. I had it for SNES, and at the time, I was 13. I didn't complete the game until 7 years later and the ending totally sucked with little fanfare. But, what should I have expected from a game with no animation? I remember buying it on clearance from Woolworth for $10. The second unappealing part of the game was the Hell level. Every damn enemy had the chance to hit your hours-dedicated warriors for millions of damage and then disintegrate them to ashes, often-times never to be revived. That was a bitch.

God Im gonna get laughed at...Super Mario Sunshine, I'm trying to find it so I can actually beat it 100%, man some of those missions are hard.
I won't laugh at you - I got to something like 45 shine sprites and couldn't figure out where to go / what to do. To be honest, I thought this was the most difficult game I've played this generation...
And before you make fun, I HAVE played difficult games (just none with a camera that gave me brain damage). I've thought MULTIPLE times (when trying to get back into the game) that I'd just not been playing correctly, etc, but I really can't seem to get the feel for the game (I hate the lack of direction and the "find all the blue coins" b/c I don't use guides). I've beat ~20 games per calendar year and I fear this will never be one of them.

Um, you DO know you can save anywhere in the game, right?
I can't really remember any game that I conciously "gave up" on, except maybe 007: Everything or Nothing, but that game just plain sucked ass, so it doesn't really count.
I do have a tendency to take long (sometimes years) breaks from games. I got FFX the year it came out and didn't really play it that much until late 2004, and I haven't played it since. Doesn't mean I didn't like the game (loved it, actually), but I just got other games that distracted me.

I still enjoyed Invisible War, and played through the Xbox version (all endings) in record time. Now that I have a PC graphics card that can support it, I'm planning on playing the PC version, too. Noooo, I beat Castlevania 4. Dracula was tough, but the toughest Dracula in any Castlevania I think most would agree is in Dracula X on SNES. I've beaten every Castlevania too except for the crappy N64 ones that I got bored with and the old original GB ones that I never owned.
from a gamefaq of Dracula X
BOSS: Dracula (2nd form)
ATTACKS: Throws two huge flames which swirl around, aimed at you, and unleashes
a beam of concentrated energy.
STRATEGY: OK, this is incredibly difficult. It might even rank up there among
the hardest boss battles in the history of video games. Dracula morphs into
a horned monstrosity that jumps from pillar to pillar, crushing you if you're
beneath him. You'll therefore need to be very mobile. He will also throw
huge infernos at you, two of them, which weave downwards at you with the sole
intention of knocking you into the pit. Occasionally he'll release a super
beam of concentrated energy. Try to predict when this is going to happen, as
the only way to avoid it is by ducking on the lowest pillars. Use guerrilla
tactics; get in a hit where possible and make use of all the hearts you've
stocked up. You may find it easier not to use them on itemcrash, but to shoot
at the demon's head. Good luck - you sure are going to need it this time!

Trauma Center--Eh, got stuck on the bomb part. Screw it, it's too hard anyways and it's instant death to your touch screen.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney--I loved this game since I had just got done finishing a lot of really difficult games and it was so easy. Got to the last chapter, bought a DS Lite with a couple new games and never got back to it.
Ikaruga--Beautiful game, just too hard. No motivation to play it.

DOH! Forgot a major one.
Resident Evil 4 - Well, basically I don't like survival horror gameplay, even though I like the genre. As improved as RE4 was over the other RE games, it still didn't have enough ammo. It may be part of the experience, but I hate feeling totally powerless in a game, especially if it's for a lack of ammunition.
Yeah, yeah, I just suck at the game. I'll get back to it sometime.
I gave up on RE4, also. I freaking hate escort missions, and the part where the chick climbed a ladder and I had to protect her while watching my own ass was too much for me to stand.

I gave up on the last mission of Ace Combat 5 where you have to fly through that stupid tunnel. It drove me nuts.
Also made it to the last guy in shadow of the colossus, but couldn't make one of the last jumps and gave up.
DMCIII- I had no idea where to go about 30 minutes into the game.

You're just more of a man than me, I guess. Looking back, I only tried it once or twice. I'm not much of a sniper.
