Overstock.com Coupon Error

Once Overstock.com goes through all the coupon-based orders made today, that are under the limit for $20 off $200 or $15 off $150, smart money says they're going to send a mass cancellation out for almost all of them. No way a business is going to willingly absorb that kind of loss.

Still, it never hurts to try -- I made a play for a couple games too :-P

Got Kingdom Hearts for the GBA for 1.40 after $20 coupon. And bought V for Vendetta 2 disc for $5.60. Couldnt get $20 off to work twice even thou I used different accounts. I have a feeling this will be like the FYE coupon crack and I never get my orders shipped. Hope they dont try and charge me full price and ship. Has anyone had that happen thru overstock before?

Well, I managed to put in one order /w the $20 coupon before they apparently fixed the error.

I ordered only in-stock item in hope that they might ship it out before catching the mistake. Preordering would just give them ample time to cancel. I highly doubt they would honor either case anyway. Expect mass cancellation and hopefully a small coupon for the trouble.

a) attitude problems with a lot of them
b) superiority complex - i know more than you thus i am better than you
c) repost gestapo are making people afraid to contribute
d) people are too aggressive on some deals, they complain and complain about bait and switch, etc when obviously its a price mistake. i mean its a price mistake! calm down.

they were a site like amazon or buy.com, but to get people to sign up back in 1999 i think, they had these promotions where a new account would get $100 in your account if you use your visa. The weird thing is that they dont even ask you for your CC# or check anything to get you the $100 credit, and there was nothing to stop you from opening multiple accounts.

and how you use the credit is this, everything you buy you get half off as long as it's below 200 dollars, if its above, you get $100 off of it

I didnt see that i had placed the first order and so i ordered 2 copies. Went to live chat and got the more expensive one cancelled :) Oh, and they sent it to me anyway at no cost. So i got 2 copies of the 4 disc Kingdom of Heaven (brand new each of them) for $16. I sold my extra copy to a friend, so it worked out in the end.

I agree on the FW thing.. I believe it put a stake through this deal's heart rather quickly. It's one thing for FW to get the deal and take advantage.. but it's another thing to delete a post giving CAG credit (when they blatantly ripped it, whichever douche bag of a bastard took it from here and put it there knowing it meant death for this deal) and bash us like that. I wish we could find the lurker doing this.. because his/her reaction was extremely fast. If you take information from one site and use it for "social acceptance or feeling of self importance" on another site, you should at least give the site of origin credit.

I got my Dreamcast from ValueAmerica back in the day (among other things). That was back in the heyday of ecommerce when people would give you free stuff just to use their site. Doesn't happen so often anymore, for obvious reasons.

This is what a supervisor told me a year ago when I called Overstock for being mischarged for a Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes Live At The Greek cd. I was told that cancellations are not possible as once an order is accepted, it goes to whatever third party will be shipping the item.

Of course, as historically proven on CAG, this is only necessarily true if it benefits Overstock. However.. it leaves me to wonder if there is a certain time window for them to cancel orders in situations such as this, as Overstock is obviously a company that sells merchandise for other businesses or third parties (and their distribution centers, from what I know, are not owned by the company itself). With such a large number of individual orders, those made beyond a certain point of time for in stock items might have a shot.

This is all just shooting the shit basially.. but it's the spark of hope I'm banking on. Why? Because I'm not giving Best Buy another $30 to own Pink Floyd's The Wall for a third time.

All of mine are in process... I only ordered one game (a PC game) and the rest are music and DVD's... so who knows. Not to get anyone's hopes up, but the time between when you order and when it is too late for them to cancel it at their warehouse seems to be less than 6 hours in my experience. I ordered something yesterday and changed my mind later in the day, but was unable to cancel it although today its status still says Accepted-In Process, just like the stuff I ordered today. I'm sure this policy is only something they use to benefit them and to prevent people from cancelling, they really shouldn't have any trouble cancelling all these orders. I was a little pissed about not being able to cancel yesterday so I tried to stick it to them today with different orders under different emails. Hopefully ordering a variety of things and not just games will net something.

Unless the order has the status of shipped, and there's a tracking # next to it, don't assume it'll go through. Once you see the tracking # is there, then you're in the clear.

It looks as if they might be going backwards for processing. People have said that their orders starting with 3075 have shipped, and then my order of 3074 just shipped. We'll have to see though.

now it seems like all the video game stuff is getting shipped (my live points, other peoples PS2 games, etc.)

so i think it might have to do more with what department you ordered from instead of order #, i could be completely wrong tho but i'm just imaging they have different sections depending on what you're buying and some guy probably goes to each section, scans in all the packages, assigns a tracking #, then moves onto the next one

I guess overstock.com is more willing to ship items which are not so hot or items that they will loss less.

My copy of Rub Rabbits shipped via UPS Mail Innovations. It must have literally shipped just now because I was checking all my games every hour. 1 down, 4 to go. To be honest, I kind of expected Rub Rabbits to go through because its not one of the more "popular" DS games. The real test will be Kirby Canvas Curse, Resident Evil DS, Tetris DS, and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

BTW, I ordered all these between the hours of 12:30 and 1:15 and Rub Rabbits was the LAST game I ordered yet its the first that shipped. $28.49 minus $20 discount plus shipping was $9.89.

good question i had a bunch of pre orders too. Xenosaga 3, final fantasy 3, Cooking mama, okami, ult ghosts n goblins and baten kaitos.

The only one shipped for me was a preplayed mercenaries. But I forgot all the made up emails i used so cant check them all. :(
