I've added every friendcode listed in the original post + magiic (he's not on there).

Only Vman, Si, Daroga, and Johnathan (all Mii names) are officially listed as my friends; has everyone else not added me or is there something else causing that?

I didnt credit for either win. I've lost one series and one won series but record shows 2L & 0WYou should definitely have points for at least the first win, if he disconnected before the second was finalized. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for your stats to update.

Good series, Spaz. I was afraid you were going to push it to a 5th game.

I still can't get past the sucking. I dunno if it's that it doesn't do what I want every button press or that it does, lol. Maybe I push too many damn buttons.

I'm still getting used to the power things, so if you hit the d-pad when you've got the ball you do a power thing that depends on the sidekick and stuff right?

And do I have to officially PM you or anything botticus? I'm not bolded yet, but I said I'd join the tournament even though I suck.

mmmm I have a neat idea.
I'd say for all of those w/ accounts to any GTP sites..we (excluding me for now..::cries::) earn points to get Wii Points cards..and make a tournament..and have like.. "First place: 3 Wii points cards!" "Runner up: 1 (maybe 2!) Wii points cards!"

But clearly that would take sometime & discussion for that to happen. I'd be willing to help.. but I need the darn game! LOL

It's a deke - a move that gets you away from (fakes out) an opposing player. Every one has a different one, although some will do the same thing.

There is a lot of depth to this game. And while that's a good thing, right now it's really frustrating me, because it's clear I have so much more to learn. I'm getting schooled online. I'm getting schooled in the Crystal Cup. Ugh.

Well...I wouldn't go that far but...:D

In all seriousness though there have still been a few players online who have utterly creamed me. I Fucking hate the gimmick stages like the Wasteland, and spammers who just lob the ball from person to person until its white and then shoot from their most powerful player.

I played Koopa tonight. It was a good game. I won. Go me lol

Last time I checked I was 187 on the Leaderboard. It sucks though because I have so much work this weekend, I'll be lucky if I get on at all this side of Sunday night.

Yea I'm koopa and I use waluigi and you stole him both times. Thats why I tried to take home team the second time but you wouldnt give. oh well. We need to play each other soon. It will be EPIC. ;)

I just feel like I haven't got the right mix of sidekicks yet and I'm still not sold on my captains. I will tell you this much - no more Yoshi for me. Everyone and their brother uses Luigi and I have no idea who the fuck I am half the time.

Ahh I guess you do learn something from reading the booklet then. I've only heard deke in hockey and all the sports games I've played called it jukes and just from football with friends I'm using to saying "I got jukes!". I bet deke is a more elegant term vs jukes are the extreme American way. :D

Yeah they call it a deke in the manual, but I didn't call it a deke since dekes aren't usually, ya know, chucking a huge hammer at somebody (although that would make many sports more interesting).

Just making sure that that's what the d-pad does: chucks a hammer with the hammer bros, digs in the ground with the groundhog, etc. since a lot of the time it seems like I'm pushing the buttons way faster than the actions on the screen and I do shit and don't know what it was :-P.

I guess I'm starting to get the hang of all this extra stuff, it does make the game a lot more interesting than the original strikers, but also a lot more frustrating.

Wait, you guys have been able to play tonight? I fucking gave up because I kept getting connect errors - either "check your Internet" or "Data Transfer Failure" or some such nonsense. More often then not it was connecting but then failing when getting the stats (so it wasn't my local connection). I got on one time and started to enter friends codes and right in the fucking middle of that it gave me the same error and kicked me out to the main screen. I wanted to get on with my son and try some 2-player. So we gave up and tried to play the Crystal Cup instead. Damn that is hard... We can barely get shots off let alone win anything. Overall it was a very frustrating Strikers session. I'm really starting to like this game less and less the more I play (especially in comparison with the last game). We gave up and fired up the 360 to play Bomberman - what do you know, no connection issues whatsoever and a rock solid connection while we hosted several matches. Nintendo needs to make this wifi crap more robust, that's all I can say...

I also noticed one huge difference between playing local tonight and playing online. I tried the lobbing strategy against the CPU. I couldn't do it too much because my sons (both were playing) didn't cooperate, but I noticed that if I made a single lob pass it would go to the next guy and stay there. When I was doing that online I thought it was impossible because every time I clicked for one pass it would go right to that guy and he would kick it AGAIN right to the next one - so I couldn't line up any shots because the guy who was supposed to shoot would pass. Now I'm figuring it was an online connection glitch. I understand lag, but I totally don't get duplicate commands. I swear, it was 2 passes for every one I tried to make. It was very frustrating. The control in the local game was MUCH crisper, though still impossible to win ;).

When the ball is in the air during a lob pass, if you press A against it will automatically pass again. Pressing A too fast with passes will make you pass it more times than intended. Lobbing takes a lot of good timing to work. What I do is hold B down between passes so if I have room to breathe, it charges it a bit, then pass > juke > pass > whatever > release B for a nicely charged shot.

Don't forget the header off the ricochet of a block too. While the balls still white, you've got to fight!

OK, I guess. But I just noticed a huge difference between how it reacted in online play and then vs the CPU. I had no problems controlling the passes against the CPU, but it nearly always double-passed during online play. It could be that there is some lag and I'm pressing it twice because it doesn't happen right away - then I get 2 passes .

I did not know you could hold B while doing all the rest of this. Though I have a tough enough time trying to press the D-pad, pass, and hold Z. I don't think I can pay attention to yet another button. So much for simplistic Wii controls! This game is one of the tougher ones to master I have ever seen. I hope the PS3 and 360 people are paying attention to this - most probably think this is some kiddie game.

You pretty much just jump over the goalie. If you're coming from a distance the goalie will be towards the outer edge of the box for an easier jump in. However for any other angle it can get tricky. From what I can tell from it, you have to watch the goalie's animation for movement. I had lots of success pausing in front of the goal for a sec or two then making the jump. As long as he's not moving and the angle is good, I think your safe. If the goalie moves the slighter before you hit the D-Pad, I'm pretty sure you're caught. Toad plus a mushroom and also just run right in without a jump. To counter Toad, any of the speedsters can cut them off with a steal even after they've jumped Critter. A slide tackle knocks the ball in as experience has shown me.

Toad, Daisy, Dry Bones, Boo, and I think one more character (peach?) can use their jukes to go past the goalie and walk in goals. Toad/Dry Bones are the easiest. Daisy's juke distance varies *I think* with how much the ball is glowing. I've accidentally juked myself into the wall a few times with her.

Nah, it was just that I figured I better use it or lose it. I can never seem to do anything with big Mario - it still seems people can tackle and do everything to you they normally do. I don't really get it.

Was that game incredibly laggy on your side with a horrible frame rate (like magiic said earlier on his game I'd say it was about 5 fps much of the time)? I couldn't see where I was half the time - my characters (and yours) kept skipping all over the place and my button presses weren't recognized on time (thus all the double passes again).

I played a ranked match after that and it was much better.

Before all that I had played the Crystal cup and got to the last elimination round with the first seed (lost to Wario in the last match 6-5 or something). The toad jump method is what got me there - it is awesome if you can pull it off. I can't see how it can be done with any consistency online though because you need a steady framerate and perfect timing to do it. However, in my ranked match I did pull one off in sudden death for the win, so that was rather awesome (I had failed about 4 tries before that).

Man, I absolutely despise the way the single player is setup on this.

My friend and I were playing the Crystal Cup yesterday, and twice, after winning every game, got knocked up by one cheap goal in the elimination round. Why on earth don't they let you at least restart from elimination rather than having to do the whole cup over again? For a game that as such random and cheap things going on in the environments, that setup is unthinkable.

2 hours wasted. I might just download a freaking saved game that has everything unlocked. :P

Entirely agreed. They could have let you start at the beginning of elimination at least. I made it all the way through, number 1 seed, beat the first one, and lost to the second when I messed up on allowing a megastrike. I blocked most of them, but that was all it took for dumb-ass Wario to win by 1 goal. The next match would have been against Diddy Kong. I could live with going back to my previous game (the first elimination) and replaying it, but it is very frustrating having to go through 10 more qualifiers. I've never downloaded a save for anything in my life, but I may just do it for this since my kids will want the last 2 characters and locked fields. I'll give it another shot first, though, of course. But I'm not doing that too many more times.

I was greatly encouraged that I could handle the CPU mostly though after being comnpletely destroyed the previous time I tried it. The toad jump trick, finally figuring out the passing charge-up deal (the reason I was not getting charge-ups before despite passing 10 times was that I was waiting too long between passes - didn't realize they had to be instantaneous), and being even more practiced in stopping megastrikes and skill shots made it much more manageable.

The whole point is to just run around and squash everyone around you. It should give you enough time to let loose a charged shot (either for an item or just a better shot in general) or a 4-shot Megastrike.

Yeah, I do that but I almost always get tackled somehow . I'll figure it out one of these days. I think I just learned in my last ranked match that I need to go for the smaller megastrikes. I always try to get 6 and this guy was firing off these 3-4 ones before I could do anything to him. Then thanks to the lag (why the fuck is there lag on the megastrike defend - that should be running entirely on the defenders system!) you'll invariably score 1 or 2, anyway. That was his strategy, anyway, and he ended up winning by 1 goal in 2 of the 3 games.

Botticus - have you entered my FC on your system? I'm still showing you as "Connecting..." (along with several others from the OP).

I've been lucky a lot of times and theres still a lot of stuff I need to get the hang of. With some luck I'll be on at some point tonight I have work all day probably like 9ish Eastern. I'll look for you then if you're on.

If some people are expecting XBL-like service from any online Nintendo game, you are going to be disappointed.

Nintendo's online service is relatively new and they are still working the kinks out. XBL has been in place since the first Xbox and has had a lot of time to evolve and mature. Not to mention the fact that XBL is funded by gamers so Microsoft has a lot more resources to throw at their online infrastructure. WFC is free so we are pretty much stuck with what Nintendo is willing to do.

We have to remember that WFC is getting absolutely swamped right now since this is the launch week for the game. Everyone is wanting to try out online so everyone is currently logging in and playing. Once the initial hype dies down, the service will straighten itself out. As sad as it is, this has happened with every WFC game launch (I'm speaking of the DS games in particular).

You Toad jumped me last night you bastard! ;)

I lost both matches to you last night (imagine that) but I felt I did so much better than I normally do - at least in the first match.

Then I went online and got beat twice by noobs like myself. As Tybee said, my e-penis is in the negative numbers right now.

I actually think the online play, and even the friend codes system is setup quite nicely. I'd obviously prefer one friend code, or a gamertag like on XBL, but for free it's not bad at all. I do think it's silly that they didn't enable voice chat considering those little brats get it in fucking Pokemon!

I have faith in the online play for the Wii now, hopefully Smash Bros. Brawl is online and we get voice!

I noticed that when you leave the cup, it asks you if you would like to save. Can you exit the game before the save point, then return to play the match you lost?

I have a feeling that there are 3-4 people playing on the same account when I see some of these high scores. That and a single person juiced up on energy drinks accounts for the top players of the day.

EDIT: I am adding all of the friend codes from the beginning of the thread as we speak. That you all in advance for taking the time to add me as a friend. After all, everyone could use a friend.

One of the Charged devs stated that the Mii friend code would transfer from game to game...then he was contradicted by another Nintendo rep - as usual.

I really, really, hope that what he said was true. I wonder where the friends list is actually saved? Is it online? You have to log into WFC to see your friends list so it could possibly be saved on Nintendo's end. If that is the case, there is hope that friends lists could transfer.

io, keep in mind that items can be used against you as big Mario. Even a little shell (or the goalie) can take you down.

Has anyone messed with the camera settings in the options? Just wondering if the default is the best or not.

I messed with them at lunch and went through each of the settings for both Dynamic (which is the default, set at 3) and Static. I think all Dynamic does is zoom out the view as the ball stretches past the current field of view. Static does no zooming at all but just follows the action.

The levels seem to correspond to how zoomed out the camera is by default: 1 being the furthest out and 5 being the closest in. Static on 5 was too zoomed in. You couldn't see where your sidekicks were unless they were right next to you. 4 was still a little too close, so it seemed like the sweet spot was 3.

Dynamic at 4, however, was great for me. It keeps close (but not too close) to the characters so you can actually see who is who, and zooms out as it needs to when the ball goes out of the field of view.

I'm playing on a 32" CRT HDTV and with it set to widescreen, the default view is almost too small for me. Dynamic/4 seems to be the best mix for me but I think it would competely depend on your TV size.

No, the game knows you disconnected. This was the first thing i tried once i got to Crystal Cup Knockout round and was going to lose. It comes up with a strikers time as soon as you go back into the cup and says your fans are disappointed or something.

2478-8974-3103-1436Your Strikers friend code is unfortunately different than your Wii code. You should see it on the top of your friend roster when you log in.

We currently have 16 people signed up for the tournament, so I think that'll be enough to stick with the 8/5 deadline. We will certainly have as many tournaments as there is interest, so no worries if you're not in for the first one.

Shall we have qualifying rounds or just go straight to a bracket with random seeding? The latter will be quicker and easier, former will be more legitimate as far as tournaments go.

Big Mario/Luigi can also be stopped by a well timed tackle. People just seem to get afraid and try to run away most of the time though.

botticus go with the quicker easier way. Its not like we're going for a prize or anything. If we were I'd say do Round Robin style for points where everyone ends up playing everyone else at least once.

If you can make it through the Fire Cup, chances are you're doing okay, probably just getting stuck playing against better people. I'm struggling through the Crystal Cup, but I've done well enough to get an 11-11 record. Lots of times it just depends on who you're playing and what kind of style they play with.

As deep as this game is ultimately there are a lot of things in the game that will keep happening oevr and over again. The key to being a good player is how to stop them. There is time to interrupt a character's charge shot. Honestly, complaining about it is just pointless, learn from it and don't let it keep happening.

hah i beat crystal cup by getting up and just running with dry bones in the back court. Koopa couldnt catch up to me. The game wants to be cheap I'll do the same.

Interesting... Another day for me, another run at the Crystal cup. I got to the championship series against Diddy Kong and lost 2-1 and 4-3 or something in SD. Suckage - all the way back to the fucking beginning. Who thought that was a good idea? Damn...

I actually used a little bit of the keepaway strategy myself when I was up by 1 goal with 30 seconds or so left in a couple of games earlier. I went up on Diddy early and should have done that, but it would have been more like 2 minutes or so and I didn't want to chance a steal and quick score on his part. Of course, what happened was a miss be me followed by a quick score, and then a shuffling of the characters so he was left with Diddy and that stupid mole. Then any slight slip-up with your 2 chars and he gets off a megastrike. I actually blocked 3 out of 4 so it wasn't too bad, but then I was playing catch-up. Next time I play keepaway if I get the chance.

While this cup looked flat-out impossible at first, I know now that I can beat it if I just keep at it. This time I restarted the Fire Cup so I could have Luigi (just 'cause) and pair him up with a couple of toads and a hammer bro. I use the toads and Luigi for quick passing to charge up shots and take several toad jump attempts for goals. I got all kinds of goals in the Fire cup since I could megastrike a lot, and used the rest of the time practicing toad jumps. In case anyone blazed through the Fire Cup the first time they played the game (as I did) and didn't snag both trophies, you should do it again. I got the Wasteland field unlocked by getting both the brick wall and golden shoe awards (fewest goals allowed and most goals scored). That should be pretty easy for most of you at this point. I just figured many didn't know that as they probably played that one day 1 and haven't gotten back to it. The first time I played I got the brick wall but not the golden shoe.

Then on to the hard part, the Crystal cup - I would usually end up with 1 or 2 toad jump goals, and maybe a hammer bros skill shot goal and/or a megastrike or regular goal. That got me wins in most of the qualifying games. My achilles heel was damn Daisy and her lightning speed. I lost 2 qualifiers to her and then had to face her in the last elimination round. I finally beat her by going up 2 goals and then playing keepaway - the key thing being I didn't let her fire off all the megastrikes she did earlier. It seems like she can get them off WAY too quickly, so I just made sure to have the character I controlled shadow her whenever possible. Diddy Kong is pretty fast, too. Had I just played keepaway when he and Luigi were knocked out and I had my toads to run around with I would have won that one game at least.

Oh well, I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

And isn't there ANOTHER cup after the Crystal? Has anyone even tried that one? Does the difficulty take the same jump as from Fire->Crystal? If so, screw that .

I did it yesterday. I found it confusing because of the 4 people playing. You never know who your passing it to (you or your guest) so when you try to do a combo you never do it correct. Also, for some reason it seemed to lag more than usual - even though I had a 4 star connection.

i wish that all these games would have the tetris ds online system. you were given a rating. and you'd be matched up with folks with similar ratings. and your rating wasn't just a measure of your win loss ratio. it took into account how good or bad your opponents were.

So has anyone here played on wifi in 2 vs 2 (you and someone else on the same wii)? How is it? Is there a specific ranking for this too?

That's the only way I've played online so far. It's been fun , it's more up tempo and I think more fun because of the teamwork you have to do to win. I will playing solo for awhile, until my son get better or my nephew come over again.

My friend and I finally beat the crystal cup together by being cheap as all get out and one person having the captain and the other just bashing everyone to keep them safe to do mega strikes. I'm not looking forward to trying Striker cup, cause even being very cheap like that, it still took us 3 runs at the cup to win.

That's an interesting strategy, and one I can do with my son. Maybe we'll try that this evening. He can be the bruiser and take everyone out. He ought to like that ;).

It just seems that all of my shots are blocked, and I can never seem to pull of any kind of special move without getting tackled.

You should try passing in the air (Z+A) a few times, like 4 time in a row, then while its in the air, let go of Z and hold b, you should shoot right away, and if your lucky, the gollie will be confused and you will score!

if you wanna add me I'll play with ya. I suck too and friend vs friend isn't ranked.

It's not as easy as it sounds as sometimes guys come out of nowhere, but I think only once in some 30-odd games did the computer shutout a megastrike, so it's at least a mostly sure 1 goal, if not 2-5. I don't think we ever got 6.

It's also a pretty easy way to assure you get at least the golden foot if not the brick wall. One round we scored like 83 goals and let 9 in (10 wins in a row, then got eliminated by one cheap goal in the first elimination round--gosh I hate the way this is setup with no retrys available. It's such a time waster!)

Man, I discovered a game breaking glitch/tactic tonight which will guarantee a win every time - and it is simple. I don't even want to say what it is because I know people will use it.

I'm sure others have found it as well but I haven't seen anyone doing it yet (besides me to test the theory). If it becomes widespread the game will be completely broken online.

I checked around and apparently it is already known. I give it about a week before everyone is doing it. I wonder if Nintendo can fix glitches like this? The game isn't hosted on a server so I doubt it unless they sent out a patch.

EDIT: Apparently it has existed since the EU launch so it is very doubtful it will be fixed.

I've seen a lot of cheap moves and seemingly insurrmountable tactics....all used against me. But they all require some level of skill and timing and I wouldn't call any of them "glitches." So I'm curious about the tactic of which you speak. Whatever it is, it would certainly be tempting to use in the Crystal and Striker Cups, given the already ridiculous difficulty level.

the main overused move has been the hammerhead deke and shoot. this can be fought with a well timed slide tackle. or you can just stand nearby and wait for him to power up his shot, then knock him down. if you're oppoent is lob passing you to death, you simply need to knock them down before they get the ball, or better yet, get in the way and steal the ball.

for the first time last night, i saw someone try to use the ghosts to get by the goaly all game. i couldn't figure out one sure way to stop it. i still nearly won the series, but i wasn't confident with my methods. i've also recently seen a lot of people try to jump over the goaly. this is awsome when it works, but i've only seen it work once. and i've yet to try it.

so far, for me, every attack has a counter. you've just got to find it.

the problem is this crap happens in every online game. I don't get what's so fun about boiling a game down to only 2-3 tactics ever working.. There's always those morons who HAVE to win and will use whatever they read about on gamefaqs to make themselves feel good.

These people usually have no skill otherwise, though and if you can break their routine, they fall apart fast.

Rocko

If by hammerhead you mean hammer bros., then that's what I was using in single player and then found people talking about online last night.

To be honest, boo and birdo's techniques seem to be pretty foolproof at the net as well. Drybones is also good, but only if you're open for a good period of time, to get the ball after you shock the opponent.

Thumbs down to the online ranked matches. I thought they were supposed to put you up against people of similar rank, but that never happens. I always get somebody ranked way above me who proceeds to hand me my ass. Not fun at all.

ArthurDigbySellers
08-05-2007, 02:13 PM
I guess what I was referring to is not a glitch (although it should have never been allowed in the game) but a tactic that is super cheap. It has nothing to do with any dekes or jumping goalies etc., and since those maneveurs take at least some skill to pull off and are counter-able, I don't think they are that cheap.

What I am talking about involves no skill whatsoever besides scoring the first goal in a match.

I'm sorry I'm being so vague, I'm not doing it to act like a douche or to make myself feel important because I have some secret info, I just don't think it is a tactic I would like to spread around.

If you search the MSC forums on GameFAQs, you'll find it in there.

i forgot about birdo. her deke and shot is excellent since you can do it from anywhere in the offensive half.

at this point, i really don't have a sidekick i don't like. they all have pretty fun abilities. i always just use the random sidekicks they give me and i try to master all of them.

You can get a defender behind the goalie, tackle/steal before the deke, tackle/steal while the opponent is passing the ball in order to get a white charged ball (since these dekes don't/hardly ever get past the goalie without a good charge), etc.

From what I've seen, the game is very balanced. There's always a counter-strategy. If you don't have a high speed, high defense defender in the "protect your goalie" slot of your three sidekicks, an opponent with a high speed or high offense deke can do certain categorical things well when strategically unaccounted for.

I'm interested to know what lebowsky is talking about regarding the "tactic that is super cheap."

Yeah, the matchmaking can suck, but that's a factor of the game mode - they can't match you up with people of similar records and then have that count towards a universal leaderboard, it has to be random. It's missing Mario Kart's "rivals" mode.

You can blame Nintendo for the whacked out matchups, but the lag is between you and the other player. All WFC does is match two Wiis together. After that, it is just peer-to-peer networking so if either you or your opponent start getting a crap connection, the game is going to suffer.

Thanks. You had a bye the first round, so you technically "won" (noted by the bolding). Your second round match is against CouRageous. You can play whenever you want.

I put in a hard stop of 8/11 for the first round, so if one of the two people in a match was completely unavailable to play by that time, they'll get a loss, and we will move on. I'll put in a hard stop for the second round once the first round is completed.

If you had an even number of competitors, why couldn't everyone have a first round match?Because unless it's a factor of 2, then you wouldn't have an even number of competitors the next round.

I.e. we have 22, so if we just matched everyone up, the next round there would be 11 people. And if you set up a bye that round, then the 11 would turn into 6. And then the 6 would turn into 3... and then you have to somehow go from 3 to 1. To have no byes, you have to have 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.

Why do I get a Bye Week? Drug testing?Yeah, your Luigi failed... hopefully by round 2, it'll be out of his system.

Basically the top 10 people alphabetically got byes since they were the top 10 seeds.

Stayed up way too late tonight beating Crystal Cup. Took me 8 attempts, but the final time through, I swept the cup and only had difficulty with the quarterfinals (Mario was being cheap on Thunder Island, knocking off 2-3 players off the stage at a time).

In the finals, for some reason, Diddy never got his Red Card until the second match, with 8 seconds to go and didn't mega-strike me - I was incredibly lucky.

I'm praying I have the patience to go through and beat Striker. From some of the faqs I've read, I imagine it could take a me month or longer.

For the next tourney, I'm definitely in - the Crystal Cup attempts (along with those challenges) made me a better player online for sure.

Sigh I was playing the fucking 2nd cup today made it to the finals lossless then they got to the bullshit. Randomly eliminating mario till someone scores while diddy is there super fast throwing shots right and left. Then on the final game he got 2 bombs back to back then shells then his powerup while I got crap until mario was removed from the field when I got a star. Seriously this is worse than mariokart because atleast the guy behind gets a blue shell, I get a crap the whole match and he gets everything and scores like crazy.

For the tournament matches, are any captians or side kicks excluded? I believe that for as cheap as some of them can be there's always a counter for them, so it's not impossible, but just wondered if we had any rules setup for that.

If that guy connected mid-game, you should have been credited for a win (at least I think you should have). Sometimes it takes a while for your stats to update.

I was playing last week and pulled off a Mega Shot on a some guy in the first match. I scored around 3 goals and he immediately disconnected. I received 10 + 3 points after the disconnect.

Everything has a counter really. I think all skill shots can be considered cheap vs actual fielding skills of plain ol' pass/shoot/good luck! It's possible to play Classic mode, no one has any skill shots except for the Captain I believe.

If you're going to get rid of power shots due to their cheapness, I would think you would want to remove the dekes as well. I think the deke shots are cheaper because they don't require time to charge, which at least gives the player on defense a chance.

botticus

The goal isn't really to eliminate what makes Strikers Charged Strikers Charged for the tournament, it's just to get rid of the randomness that could skew the results. Skill shots, dekes, all that are part of a 4-on-4 game. It's things like Crystal Canyon taking out two random people from each team that would throw off an otherwise level playing field.

Yeah, I really don't think any characters should be banned either. Just because I suck at guarding someone doesn't mean we shouldn't play.

Really, everything "cheap" in the game still requires skill. You've gotta time those Hammer Bros. dekes perfectly to not get clobbered (which I can't do at all, I usually don't even have a hammer bro. on my team). It's similar to snaking in Mario Kart that it's not like someone just holds down a turbo buttona nd goes fast, you have to keep it going.

The difference is, once a snaker really gets out in front, there's little-to-nothing you can do. You can always take the ball away from the deke spammers.

I merely asked the question to make sure I didn't miss anything. We're free to use whatever captain we want for each step of the tournie, right?

Do you think each tourney player should call out the team he plans on using? I mean, it would help the less skilled players in building strategies on how to defend.....

I mean, it would help the less skilled players in building strategies on how to defend.....Actually that reminds me that we can't enforce same teams across the tournament since there are more people than captains - not to mention two people can't be the same captain in the same game should they meet later. I think in future tournaments we'll see how we can deal with that. Maybe everyone calls a captain each round or maybe just for the final 8 or 4.

I got the game but I'm not too impressed so far. I hate that the Mega shots take so long (even if you don't get it perfect or close you still have to watch the cutscene). Anyway my FC is

I think its just because I was playing the Fire Cup against the computer. I was beating them by like 10-15 each time so I had to watch the scene so much. I just played a series of 3 online and only saw 3 mega shots in the 3 games (2 by me and 1 by him). I won 6-3 first game. Lost 3-0 second game. Then in the third game I scored with Hammer Bro with 8 sec left to win 2-1. I can see why you guys like playing online so much. Not a bit of lag either!

i think my biggest annoyance in the game has to be the replays. i wish that both players could cut off the replays. i really like watching the replays sometimes, but if the other player doesn't want to watch them, i shouldn't make them.

and since the system is what it is, i wish people would just skip the replays. am i the only one?
