I've sometimes used Daisy when others pick Waluigi before me because she has comparable speed and a nice special move.

I believe Daisy and Waluigi have identical stats, but I prefer Waluigi's celebrations. I have found his special to be more useful as well.

Well, the Wii DOES store your Mii's W/L record; if you look closely when you log on with the Mii in strikers, it shows its lifetime record. Not online, but you can't say it isn't there.

For the person who asked why no one uses Daisy, I use her exclusively. It hasn't seemed to have helped my game all that much, but I think your sidekicks really play more of an important role than your captain. I still don't think my mix of sidekicks is right.

Brocko you probably hate my playing style... sorry. I hate using drybones like that but I take it as being a shot. If I make a suggestion...you didn't really have any good shooters on your team. Put birdo, hammer, or a different captain and you will be good to go. Right now your team is fast and good passers but no one can shoot well. Thats just my opinion to try to help you out.

I look at it this way: Dry Bones cant score by shooting because his shooting sucks. Usually if birdo has it in front of the goal fully charged it will go in if you shoot. If you have it fully charged with dry bones its a 'shot' by pressing deke. Just my opinion, I could be trying to justify it. ... Whoever was trying to invite me, either Si or Rocko I was afk for a bit. I'm here now.

Hey, I switched it up at the end there and had the best game. Good game though.

Honestly I feel there are so many different levels to this game. I beat about 6.5 out of every 10 people I play in the ranked matches. There are some people who are REALLY good though. And they usually always use DK

i love qualifying matches. they give everybody an opportunity to play some matches without getting eliminating.$ and seeding helps ensure that the semifinals and finals are full of the best teams. it does suck for that #16 team, but somebody has to play the #1 seed. it's tricky.

lol well I just played some guy who was 72-17 and I was pretty scared. I beat him the first game 4-3...he really wasnt that good. I played a lot of keepaway though and was conservative. Then I killed him the second game 5-2 and right before the game ended he shut off his wii. Wow sore loser for somone ranked 47. He did impress me though, somehow he scored right off the kickoff with mario. He lobbed shot it over my goalie at least 3 times the time we played. My goalie was useless against his shot.

And considering how long it's taking to get the 4 or 5 first round matches done so far, even if we did a split qualifier, we'd be adding a few weeks before we got into the bracket.

yea, my strategy for that one was;
i'd take a couple power shots just to get some weapons. pass it to the captain, use the weapons to clear some space. shoot a super strike, then repeat.

i think the time i beat it i got a couple of easy 1 point shots here and there as well. but no matter what, you're top priority needs to be to get yoshi room for super strikes.

The higher ranked players are disappointingly cheap. I played against 50 today and when all they did was lob spam the ball to DK. In the last minute of one of the matches he Goal hugged out the clock so he would keep his 1-0 lead. Bastard.

yea, it was a great series. you'll never believe. at the begining of the third match the ups guy came to my door. i felt really bad to make him wait. i told him it was an online game for a tournament and that i can't pause.

i eventually got my wife to come in and sign for it. i felt bad though.

also, you did an amazing job stopping those super strikes. i can never stop the really fast ones. and i was surprised how effective bowers shot was in the center of the field. that kept going straight in.

First time I've used Bowser, that charged shot was basically all that kept me in it... I don't think any of my sidekicks scored all three games.

Found this on the Nintendo forums but not in the actual error code database (I think it is jacked at the moment).

This particular error is typically caused by a firewall interfering with a successful connection to the Nintendo WFC. Please read the following information.

Do you receive this error every time you try and connect?
If you receive this error every time, please proceed to step #2 on this page.
If you receive this error only when playing a particular friend, then it is likely a problem with the friend's firewall settings on their connection. If possible, recommend to your friend that they visit the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection help area of http://support.nintendo.com for possible solutions.

Ensure your router has the latest firmware installed. Visit your router manufacturer?s website and look for any updated firmware that may be available (these are typically found under "downloads" or by searching for your particular model number). Contact your router manufacturer for additional assistance.

Yeah, we could never even get connected. The connections would just die when the invties were sent. Something's messed up pretty severely on his end I think--he even tried a different Mii, rebotting all his internet stuff (and I mine) to no avail. The irony? He's using Nintendo's WiFi dongle.

I really hate the stadiums that screw with the game. I played one match that was really, really close... it capped your players in the beginning and after each score! It was crazy, though. First round was 4-4 and I won 5-4 in overtime, second round he beat me 2-1, and third round I won 2-1.

Anyone get past challenge 8 yet (th one with yoshi). I tried for a hour and a half today but got my ass kicked every time. Any suggestions?

I know that this was a couple pages back, but I had the some problem with Challenge 8 and just beat it tonight.

On strategy I used was, whenever I had the ball at kick-off, I went 45 degrees southeast and then went to the bottom of the screen on the half line. Usually Wario is the only defender on you and will allow you to take a four megastrike shot (sometimes five if he stops in his tracks completely before you start the megastrike). Since it takes a while for the Dry Bones to get to you from their position guarding the other players, you have the time for the quick megastrike.

Also, I lob passed a ton and seemed to get items quicker that way, especially when I was passing a fully charged ball.

After you score on Wario, just wait for him to deke and then steal and go into the egg (the ball stays with you) and head back to the bottom off the half line and when the dry bones are a 1/4 screen away or flattened go for the megastrike or just use the star into the m.s.

I've also heard a fully charged ball from the bottom of the imaginary quarterline (the line between the half and the goal) gets past Kritter regularly.

Easy. Run alongside them but not too close. After they toss the hammer down just slide in with a fast character, grab the ball, then run toward their goal and launch a skill shot before they can catch up.

Press A a ton of times when they lob it in the air. Hope to get lucky.

For your other question... Id suggest using lop passes. Put two good passers on your team. Have them pass in the backfield. Have a shooter up in other defenders zone. Lob pass it to him with a good passer when the ball is white (after being charged in the backfield) and do a one timer. This is the best way to score without being cheap.

Lob passes are one of your best friends, especially if you can get a bunch of them off easily, if only to charge the ball for a better shot.

Another thing to do is charge shots, but only charge them enough to get an item--let go of B while the blue ring is there, and you'll get an item, and a pretty decent shot, because the ball has been charged. Quicker release than a skillshot too.

I swear I am not very perceptive when it comes to the options on this game. I've never noticed Petey was a playable captain online (I've never run into him until last night), and I never noticed the second option screen when you are creating a friend match - the screen that allows you to add cheats in.

I also encountered my first Daisy player last night which sucked since she is the only captain I ever use. I went with Waluigi instead and got hammered.

Yeah, yukine used Petey against me last night, which was the first time I'd seen him in action. He's awesome. His music is reggae, which makes me want to unlock him so bad. His special move is pretty decent as well, spitting brown goo all over the place that slows everyone who touches it. Also like his Mega Shot cutscene.....which I got to see several times. ;)

I never feel like I have time to pay attention to what items I have, so I end up rarely using them or my special.

I have started to pay a lot more attention to them since they have actually helped me win a few matches that have come down to the wire. Having a shell handy to flatten a defender in a one-on-one situation can be a lifesaver - allowing a Mega Strike or at least a charged up shot.

The cool thing is that they can be unleashed at any time so you can lob a pass to one of your players, hit C as the ball is coming down, and your player will fire off the item and then catch the pass.

Listening to the chanting can really come in handy, especially for someone like Wario who can completely jack your team with that fart attack. Whenever I am playing against him and the crowd starts chanting his name, he becomes slam tackle target #1.

Mine has been 4 stars and still jumpy with some of my matches. I dunno if it's on their end or mine since my brother hogs the bandwidth sometimes.

I guess make sure you're not uploading a lot while playing online (at least that's the problem with mine since I have cable and the downloading bandwidth is nearly impossible to max out, but the uploading is pretty limited). If your end is clear then I guess it's either a server problem or something else on your connection that you can't control.

Just had my first two games online--destroyed the first guy, got destroyed by the second guy. The second guy just kicked the ball around in the air forever and took shots when the ball got white. Guess I should learn how to do that.

As for the connection lost stuff, Nintendo should somehow work a way to figure out which connections are lost through bad connections and which are through power shutoffs and literally block those who quit for a week.

Just had my first two games online--destroyed the first guy, got destroyed by the second guy. The second guy just kicked the ball around in the air forever and took shots when the ball got white. Guess I should learn how to do that.

As for the connection lost stuff, Nintendo should somehow work a way to figure out which connections are lost through bad connections and which are through power shutoffs and literally block those who quit for a week.
Solution, turn off your modem/router to simulate a power outage.

Also, that would punish people who disconnect due to lag. Not good.

You should get the win for the disconnect if you were winning, regardless of the situation.

Update my question about FC. Its still showing as 0-0 of friends connected. Now im no rocket scientist here but if i added all, and at least X amount of people added me back, shouldnt it at least say 0 of X friends connected if by chance noone was on?

After starting my online career 0-20, I cleaned up tonight and finished my next 13 matches as 7-6. A little patience, a little technique, and now I'm having a blast online. :lol:

I played some online for 30 minutes today, I am trying to figure out if my home wireless connection if fucked or what. The one game the guy was lagging like crazty but it said 4 stars... got creamed there because of the horrible lag.

The other game was so awesome, we both won a game, but the last game he made 2 of the most bullshit shots the ones where you lob them (like the lo passes in the air) in after the room tilts in my direction so the goalie can't catch them. I was down 3-0 but within the last 10 seconds I pulled a mega mario and a 6 shot megastrike 4 went in and I won.

Oh and I also defeated hitler today :lol:.

Love the online, except it can be very cheap sometimes.

I beat a top 10 player today! J Cruz, his record was 250something wins - 70something losses.

He trounced me in the first game thanks to a perfect mega strike, he won 9-4.
The second game was close, and I pulled away in the end to win the game 5-4.
And in the third game I won 2-0, the first goal was an own goal, it was hilarious!

I never, ever watch the replays online even if I did something cool. The exception to that is if I was really confused on how a goal made it in, but that happens once in a blue moon.

In-game replays and end-of-game replays get skipped as fast as they load. Not doing that at best wastes my time, and at worst, rubs it in my face that I suck ;)

LOL, no it wasn't our game that I was talking about. Like you said, it was only one replay that you did. It was a ranked match I played after that. The guy creamed me with DK and let every replay play after every goal and at the end of each match.


I was already frustrated because I could do nothing to stop him (lob, lob, charged ball, DK goal), and the constant replay watching just added insult to injury.

I did have fun playing you. That first match was painful. I think you got off 3 freaking Mega Strikes on me. Each time my dude was like inches from Mario before you kicked it off.

I think I need to rethink Daisy as my captain. I love her speed and her D, but her passing sucks (which I just realized last night) and her shooting is abysmal. I have a bad habit of taking a shot with her when the ball is semi-charged - knowing that there is no way in hell it is going to go in.

And in the third game I won 2-0, the first goal was an own goal, it was hilarious!

I had someone do that the other night. He had Toad and for some strange reason, jumped his own goalie into his own goal. Either he got confused or hit the d-pad on accident. I never did figure it out but it helped me go into sudden death with him.

Had 2 great games with someone online just now and split them one a piece, so naturally the 3rd game he starts hammer spamming the crap out of me.

Anyone have any advice for defending against people who do nothing but lob the ball in the air for a minute at a time? Both times I've been legitimately beaten it is because of this type of offense.

From what ive read so far, try to get near the circle where he is lobbing to and Z+A to intercept it. What I like to do is take control of my defender, keep an eye on any of his attackers on your side of the field, and when he lobs one to them, tackle him before he can catch it.

What was funny about the own goal was the fact that he lobbed it back with dry bones right by my goalie, and the ball just slowly rolled in his goal, hahahaha

Wow, what a great round online!

Played someone and got beat 4-1 in the first game.

The next game it was 1-1 at the end of regulation. We went back and forth for a long time (8:44 was the final game clock). He had no less than 2 failed Hammer Bros. skillshots; I ended up winning that game with a miracle shot from DK far away from the goal.

The last game was great as well. I was up 3-2 near the end, then some sort of craziness happened. The thowps and are spastic passing sent the ball all over the place. It ended up with an accidental lob shot by drybones on my part that just flipped over the goalie's head and dinked in. I won 4-2.

I'm not sure we could've been more equal in skill. That was a lot of fun :)

I had a pretty memorable match today as well. The guy I was playing had a record of 0-0 but right off the bat I knew he had either had his stats reset from the new season or had created a new Mii b/c he knew what he was doing. He won the first match 2-1, I then won the second match 3-2 in SD (with a straight up goal from Daisy no less!).

The 3rd match was back and forth with no score until around the last minute of the game when I finally got a Birdo shot in. When he got the ball back after that score, I knew something was off because my players just weren't responding like they normally do. They would not go to the left at all, and movement in general was janky at best. Somehow I managed to hold him off with a boatload of lobbing and clearing, relying on my d-pad tackles to get me the ball back (they auto-home in on your opponent), and general dumb luck.

After the match I checked my Wiimote battery status. It was in the red. I'm so lucky it just didn't give out completely.

I want a fast captain, though, since I rock Hammer Bros and Birdo at my front line, and I like to keep it balanced with Dry Bones defense and a quick captain. Not sure who to use, though, as I'm not really feeling Diddy Kong either, who has the same stats as Peach.

I think its the Mii, similarly to games like AC:WW on the ds how if you restart the game, you get a new #.

Yeah, I guess you're right. It really didn't do him any favors though as its a very easy tactic to crack, and when he would tackle every person on my team thanks to Dry Bones' high defense and give me an ass load of items it kind of works against him.

Sweet. Glad the lil punk got his ass handed to him by someone. I played someone else today with the same team and tactics as him but at least he didn't disconnect when he lost. It's sad really today I've had quite a few high ranked disconnectors, and yet n00bs with 7 losses and no wins have stayed on through 14-0 and 10-1 hammerings. It sucks that you can only get a max of 10 goal points but I guess it stops cheaters.

I just got this yesterday.. been playing this a lot today. I'll add my FC and add people sometime later on.

I really do like it..but I did one match with my friend against 2 other people..we got killed.

Anyone have some basic pointers? We noticed he was doing a lot of rebound shots? He also seemed to be making charged shots a lot quicker. Basically--Any good quick advice for this game? :) Some of you had this game for like 2 weeks or so by now. So, c'mon. Gimme some pointers :D

I had that happen in the few online games I've played - it pretty much has stopped me from playing online as it ruins games IMO. I really don't understand the lag on a megastrike as it should be running entirely on your system (the defending part that is). I could see lag effecting your ability to tackle someone before they get the strike off. But once you are defending it shouldn't make one lick of difference how good your connection is. It should run on your system and the your hand movement on the other guy's system could lag as it doesn't matter. In my last game I noticed the guy's strategy was to get quick little megastrikes off - the 3 shot ones with the slowest speed shots. In a CPU game I'd never let those through, but in the laggy online I would invariably miss all but the first one.

Indeed. I played the highest person I've seen yet, rank 600, and he used DK and did the same strategy- when I score, or when he's open, charge a shot off the bat and let it go, hoping for a special. Then use the special and pull off a megastrike. He did this over and over. I lagged out on one and gave him the game.

I think its hilarious when that happens. Its a show off move, though easier to pull off than Toad's, and its great when the gator catches them. I like it when they go too far too and Dry Bones gets electricuted in the goal.

I haven't played in like a week but I have some down time tonight. I'll add everyone's FC who I missed, probably a lot by now.
