So I listed an auction for a textbook about an hour ago. It already sold, to my surprise (for a really good BiN price, no less!) and I printed the label for it.. unfortunately, not thinking about the fact that I needed to date it for tomorrow because my post office is already closed.

So, do I need to void the label and make a new one, or can I just ship the package tomorrow the 24th even though it's dated for today the 23rd?

Thanks guys!

(I hope this was the right place..)

If it's like a postal PVI label technically they are void if not mailed on the same day they are dated. But the odds a clerk would call you on it are slim.

I've always voided it and made another label. Then I would get a refund in about 2 weeks. Its annoying, but I didnt want to take the chance that it wouldnt ship. Although, next time I might just stick with it since it seems to work either way.

You know what.. you're probably right. I voided the old label and printed up a new one with the correct date. Better safe than sorry - I'd rather wait 3 weeks for the refund than have to spend $4 again because the package was returned to me for whatever reason.

Thanks everyone. If a mod reads this, it can be closed now.

I've done it quite a few times and it hasn't ever mattered.

I've had things shipped two or three days after I made the label.

It doesnt make a difference what the shipping date is.

They're not supposed to. I think my Post Office said it was so people couldn't mail MIR and such after it expires

My Post Office said it is ok even if it is a few days late.

As others have said, the post office will ship something has a recent shipping date, even a few days late. If you pre-date the label, such as 2 days in advance and drop it off that night, it won't move until the printed date.
