Yeah, I use it. Not a daily thing but it's fun to browse occasionally, and to connect with people I've known previously but lost touch with. I definitely like the ability to customize more than, say, Facebook.

I recently got one so I could connect with people that I lost touch with. I've reconnected with a lot of people so its cool to me for that. However I have a plain layout. No special font, no crazy background etc.

I only add people who are actually my freinds, though. I don't use it for networking or whatever.

yeah I have one, i hated it for a while, but then I started looking people up on myspace, found a lot of old high school/previous college friends. Plus this girl i am sorta dating is nuts about myspace. I kind of like it, I don't have a garish and overdone page though.

Fortunately, the guys at Myspace finally figured out that people are posting malicious javascripts on their pages and they got rid of all that. It took them awhile though.......

same here, i started deleting people who started spamming there bulletin shit...like who the fuck cares if you lefty or righty or if you like thunderstorms??!?!?
I just use to look for old classmates from hs and college. Anyways nothing like looking at someone's profile and waiting for java(?) to kick in to load there fucken graphics and fucken music. I really don't give a fuck about there shitty music, my space should have an option to turn it off completely before a page loads like that.

EDIT: Perhaps I'll ask others here. I found out an old friend-of-a-friend (I didn't know him much at all) died recently, and it seems that everyone is spreading the word via MySpace bulletins. Now, in this guy's case it kinda makes sense (he's a transient of the old-timey style, so he knew tons of people from all over the place); however, it just seems very crass to me to turn such a genuinely impersonal (yes, it is) tool as MySpace to make such an announcement. And don't get me started on how people eulogize over the fucking comments page...
Anyway, what are your thoughts on that? Do you think it's a social networking tool meant to serve a purpose, even if that purpose isn't positive (announcing someone's passing)? Would you like to find out that way, or would it not bother you?
My biggest fear of MySpace is that it's meant to be a supplement to people's social life, but it often becomes the means of a social life for many people.

Ohh I know I know, but I thought I'd have fun with it! Make it something flashy and fun. I mean, it's freaking MySpace, for cryin' out loud. :D It's not meant for me to exchange business references with or a method by which I can talk turkey with people I'd be doing professional work with, ya know? It's just a little page to have fun with; share favorites with people, communicate with buddies, what-ev. Nobody should take MySpace seriously; that's why I figured it'd be best to just have a good time making a page I like that represents things I dig. :)

Like I said, it's MySpace; take it for what it's worth (i.e., not much). :) I like all of the things I have listed on that page, so it's no gimmick or anything; but it's not like it's all I'm about. It's just a MySpace page, where they give you an opportunity to share your favorites in media and that's what I did.

well it only works IF someone VISITS YOUR page and it prevents music from autoplaying... in other words those pricks out there with there shitty music HAVE to disable that option on there page so no one hears this shit, but since either they are too stupid to do so or want us to hear there shit, guess I have to deal with it. :(

Wrong. It stops music on other's pages from playing. Except mine, because mine is awesome.

I have been getting a lot of friend's requests lately and I'm inching towards 500. I dont understand people who have 2,000 or 3,000 friends and have nothing on their page- thats baffling to me.
I use myspace mainly because I want to notify people about my animated short film (when it is completed). So yeah...I do have a purpose for all those friends.
