What is the approximate cost to ship a video game?

I am considering selling a few old nintendo, super nintendo and nintendo 64 games on e-bay since i no longer play them and have a ton that are taking up a lot of space. Since i have never sold any games on e-bay and i know some of you have, I wanted to find out what it costs to ship. I do not want to send media mail and want to be able to track the package to be safe. I also do not want to be one of those people who try to make money off shipping. I just want to be able to cover the cost on my part. I would appreciate any of your input.

I charge $3.50 to ship a N64 game 1st class. They weigh more than CD and DVD based games which I normally charge $2.50 for CD's and $3 for DVD's.

Postage is usually $1.98 plus $0.55 for delivery confirmation so that's $2.53 plus my cost of a bubble envelope ($0.30) so my total cost is $2.83.

I slightly overcharge on shipping but I still think it's reasonable compared to the sellers charging $5 and $6 to ship games.

I was thinking of that. My only concern is that I don't want to trade and it seems like most people want to trade here. If i wouldn't get any decent offers here I could always go to e-bay. I just needed to figure out shipping costs first.

You can send almost any light item via media rate with delivery confirmation in the US for about $2. That's what I use for games, dvd's and guides. I have always believed that games counted as media rate because it includes computer software, which games are.

Thanks for the info, but I want to have the delivery confirmation to be safe. With media mail you never know for sure when things will get there. Plus I remember the Cloudspekk thread from a few months ago, so I want to protect myself as much as I can. Not to mention that the buyer is more protected too becuase I would be able to provide them with a tracking number.

I haven't sold much on the internet, so I am a little paranoid about it.

If you are paranoid, I would suggest make your first sale something worth not too much and something you wouldn't realy miss. This way you won't lose too much just in case. I was scared at first too but I haven't even had a small problem in the close to 20 trades I've done. And if you are worried, selling on this site is probably safer and easier than ebay.

Thanks for the advice. That's a very good idea. I agree with you about it being safer on this site, I just hope I get decent offers, lol. As you know, everyone here is a Cheapass. :)

I was paranoid at first too. Its really not that bad. I now pay all my bills and everything online. And if something does happen you can call your bank and dispute the charges and get your money back. Plus you don't have to buy and use stamps and go to the postoffice.

If you sell on here, media mail might be ok to use but I would not reccomend shipping Media Mail on Ebay. Buyers are very impatient and Media Mail can take up to a month (unlikely, but it has happened to items I sent before) and some buyers will say shipping is slow if they don't have it within a week.

I had already decided i wouldn't be using media mail. Most of the posts here are just offering their persaonl p[references, which i apppreciate. Personally, I am not a fan of media mail because fo the time it takes to get there. I know if i buy a game, I want it as soon as possible. I hate waiting. To me it is worth the extra money.

just rember that ebay and paypal takes about 20% after the sale is over paypal took 31 cents from 2.50 WTF then ebay took 35 to list and afterwards took 8% after acuton ends

I don't think paypal charges fees unless you accept credit card payments. The few things i have sold, i just requested that the buyer not pay by credit card and I didn't get charged those fees. The eBay fees are unavoidable though. :evil:

Bingo. I don't sell much on EBay anyway, so as long as I can keep from getting credit card payments, I don't get charged any fees.

You could also list them at videogameauctions.com and enter both the contests to win $100 in VGD-GC's. With each auction item you can enter it. So you will have multiple entries.

Also VGA is free with no fees at all. Once you list the items post here to see if you get any buyers.

Please make sure to list the items with either a reserve price or start them at something you are willing to sell them at.
