go work at party city if you are 16. My sister worked there and she said that job was easy because only during holidays are there actually a lot of people that go there.

Be a paper boy. If you ride your bike it would be good excercise.

See if any friends/neighbors/relatives are in any sort of cleaning industry. A couple of hours a week, probably under the table, and you've got a job and learning experience in one.

Find the most back breaking and difficult job possible. While it sounds insane, it will build a good strong work foundation. And besides that, once you move on, no job will ever seem difficult compared to it.

Try construction sites, mom and pop restraunts, mow laws, manual labor for cash is the way to go.

Go to garage sale's pick up cheap stuff and sell the stuff on ebay. One of my friend's all he does is that and he makes 100k a year, no joke, i tried doing it and im 16 and i make a couple hundred every now and then. hope this helps

the 100k a year thing is really hard to belive.

Lets say this person actually made 100k a year for 1 year .

lets be realistic and say he spent 20k to buy the items then resold them and made 80k profit. Still very hard to beleive. (you will find it very hard to buy crap and sell it at 5x or more profit)

Now lets minus Ebay fees and lets say the 80k turns into 75k

Continue to say that half of his payers used Paypal.

Minus paypal fees now.

brings you down to about 70k a year. Still unbeleiveable. and very hard to beleive.

this one guy i use to work with said the same thing though.

that his wife did this and was making a lot.

after talking with him more and more it really wasnt that much money at all

Maybe,....MAYBE 10k profit per year. She did it part time.

Oh well.

Very true. My previous part-time job was at a car wash place. They treated their employees like crap. The part-time teenagers (like myself) didn't have a fixed schedule. They just expected us to show up and wait to be clocked in. Most days I would show up and wait in the break room for 30mins - 1 hour to be clocked in. When I finally did get clocked in, they wouldn't let me take a break until the cars started to slow down (which would sometimes last until the night). Sometimes I would show up, wait for an hour and never get clocked in because business is slow, so I just leave. When I finally did get clocked in, they would sometimes keep me working out in the heat, washing cars non-stop for 8+ hours. I sometimes felt like I was going to die at the end of the day. I probably could report them for violating some kind of rules, but I know most of the employees don't speak english and need that job badly since they cannot get hired other places without knowing english.

I only kept that job for a few months, since it was so flexible and good for someone who is schooling at the same time. My new job at blockbuster seems so much more easier now, even though alot of the employees complain about how busy we get on weekends. I'm just happy I get breaks and get to work indoors.

Party city hires 16 year olds? There is one really close to my house. Might be a good job... anyone else worked there?

Murcielago77

they should still hire 16 year olds. My sister worked there like 3-4 years ago so they still should

For youngsters like myself (14 here), you could referee soccer games. It's modest pay for the hour the soccer game lasts. You can pretty much choose your scheduele too.

Screw work, nobody wants to hire me around here because I'm leaving for college in 2 months. There's plenty of people around here who will take minimum wage work and not leave for 15 years. At least I'm fortunate enough to be goin to college though...

Heh, here's a sadder thing: Im going to be 20 in a few months, and cannot find a summer job for the life of me. I have solid job experience, but no one wants to hire someone who goes to University away from home... Country clubs do (I worked at one last year, but was treated like shit). Ive gotten to the point where Im swallowing my pride and heading back there most likely :-S...

Try to do volunteer work for a solid base of experience... Then you should be able to have some references.

Oh well.

I have a friend from L.A. who did this last summer (estate sales, not garage sales) and made about 10K from the summer, so 100K doesn't seem unreasonable.

Yeah I hear you guys. No place will hire me either because I have to go back to college at the end of the suummer, making it basically impossible to find a job. I can see why they wouldn't want someone who won't be available for long, but it just sucks. Combine that with the fact that all of the laid off adults are taking all the traditional summer jobs, and there just aren't many good jobs out there. I agree we should be happy to be going to college so we don't get stuck with this crap for the rest of our lives.

Um...I have to go back at the end of the summer, and I have a job. The problem is, you can't start looking for a job at the beginning of a summer. You need to start looking around march or so. It's not because you have to leave, its because you were lazy and didn't start looking until all of the positions were full.

Well, I shouldn't really be complaining. I already have a job doing home remodeling, but I am looking for a different/night job to make more money. If I didn't have anything, or just want more hours/money, I would be screwed, which is true of many people even though its really not their fault. The local paper just a few days reported that teen summer jobs are at an all time low, with only 30% of people age 16-20 employed in this area. In that case I have to blame all the 30 year old H.S. drop outs for taking all the jobs at McDonald's etc., not just lazy kids.

Babysitting owns. Seriously, find a neighbor that's a single parent or who both work and see if they need someone to babysit afters school. It should be pretty easy as long as there aren't any babies to take care of and it's a stable job (Oh look, I don't need you today because my kids can just stay at home where it's nice and dangerous all alone!).

I am 16, and I have a pretty decent job. I work for a Plumber 1 day a week as an apperentice type thing. Then the rest of the week I do yeard work. It is kindof rough, but I like it a lot, and I get to make my own Sechual. I make about 150 dollars per week. Thats kindof where I cap it to.

So like if I had done 150dollars worth of work that week I would scheudal the next job for next week.

Last week I worked 2 days to get 150usd.

haha, yeah, I'm leaving in about a month for college and I'm just trying to get a few hundred dollar before I leave, but no one's hired me. My "current" job sucks since my hours have been taken away because my boss is "short on hours". Hopefully, the two weeks I have between when I move in and school starting will give me enough time to get a job.
