Well, I caved in and bought the Unreal 2004 Special Edition (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=FKSJxY2VJAk&offerid=13850.182461830&type= 10&subid=). For $40 with a free headset, I figured I couldn't go wrong.
The new additions sound really great (vehicles!).
Who else will be playing this? Maybe we can get together.

You know I'm there, Cheapy.
Admit it, I convinced you to get this before you convinced me to get Tribes and a network adaptor. Ha-ha.

If my GeForce 3 Ti200/XP2000+ can handle it, and my wedding budget doesn't suck up all of my money, I am so there!

I'm getting married April 24th on a Caribbean Island during a Disney Cruise. :D Pretty exciting stuff I must say. That pretty much sums up where my money is going although I manage to get in on the occassional $10 or $20 deal here and there. :D

I hear on VG talk that in store they are going to be having a trade in deal where you trade in UT2K3 and get it for free after rebates. (UT2K3 purchase gives you a 10 dollar UT2K4 rebate)
on top of this there is supposed to be a 10 dollar trade in credit and a 20 dollar EB mail in rebate

I have it on preorder, along with doom 3 and half-life 2. Should have new computer within a month.
The demo of this is so freaking awesome. It's way better then 2K3.
I'd rate thet UT games in this order:
UT2K4 (from whatI've played) > UT1 > UT2K3
I'm definately buying the final version of this game.

I just upgraded my PC, and my old video card was not compatible with my new motherboard. So I'm temporarily using my friend's Geforce 2 MX400 32MB until I can afford my own video card. Although I can't set the details too high, the demo is playable and I'm enjoying it.
According to the game manual that came with the demo, here are the system requirements:
Operating system: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Linux
Processor: Pentium III 1.0 GHz or AMD Athlon 1.0 GHz (1.2 GHz or faster recommended)
Memory: 128 MB minimum, 256 MB recommended
Hard disk space: 5.5 GB free (damn that's a lot)
CD-ROM Drive: 8x speed (DVD-ROM required for DVD Special Edition)
Video: 32 MB Windows 98/ME/2000/XP-compatible video card (64 MB NVIDIA GeForce 2 or ATI Radeon Hardware T&L card recommended, DirectX 9.0b compatible)
Sound: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP-compatible sound card
DirectX: DirectX version 9.0b (included) or higher
Modem: 33.6 Kbps modem for LAN/internet play (Broadband recommended)

Yeah, the demo IS freaking awesome. I love playing assault and just defending, man, nothing can get through me. And all those new vehicles on Onslaught? Amazing. I once had like, 5 people on the Humvee(at least i call it that), even though only 3 people are suppose to ride on it, you can just let people hop on the top. Must get this game..
Oh yeah, I have a GeForce2 32mbs, and the game is working..decently. Sure it has it downtimes, but for the most parts, its a-ok, just turn down the quality settings. I'm planning on getting a new gfx card though.
One more thing, I always play whenever I'm at my friends house, and I go there often, so if you ever see someone named "IceCreamMan", yeah, thats me baby. 8)

This means I need a new Hard Drive and a new DVD Drive. Hopefully I can talk my parents into paying for all this over Spring Break

I played the demo, and it feels like they butchered the HUD and menus. They look much more primitive than 2003. Other than that... over a hundred maps, I've heard spanning ten gametypes. Cool beans. Any word on the discount for UT2k3 owners?

I jumped on the dvd se pre-order since it would cost as much as the cd-rom version at release. I mean, duh.
But I have a question and could anyone verify this?
I was trolling the forums over on unrealplanet.com and someone posted this:

Ok, I didnt' see a sign when I pre-ordered my game from ebgames, but I am sure interested if this is true. Has anyone else who pre-ordered seen this or knows about these rebates? Please share if you do.
Here is the link to that forum thread as well.

I don't think that's true. I don't even think they even have any of the same maps from UT2003 save for 1 or 2 of the good deathmatch ones.
Anyways, I'm living off campus sharing a network connection with 7 other people which is good costwise but sucks gamingwise. I preordered UT2K4 anyways, I warmed up on the demo with botplay which is probably what I'm going to be playing primarily until I move out of here.
About the voice recognition, from what I hear you can control the bots with voice commands through the mic, and also type acronyms like 'gg' or 'lol' and it'll actually speak the full words in game. Can't wait to play though, single or multi... thanks Cheapy for the deal!

It was supposed to be compatible with 2K3 but ended up not being.
also how long do EB rebates usually take to get? I know its a store credit rebate, its just that it would be nive to use it on a Metal Slug 3 or something like that
