...and yes, I appreciate RTSs, but find them unplayable by me...

People like this make me feel like I'm muddled (is that a word?) with Trekkie types or something similiar...

Interesting read. While I don't find RTS unplayable, I just could never get into them. Only one I ever got into was the original Command and Conquer (lent it to a friend in high school 6 years ago and the fucker lost it...grrr...). That and about 8 or 9 years ago some medieval/fantasy one, that had Heros somewhere in the title. But it was just a demo.

I guess the reason why I never really got into them is because I kinda suck at them

what I meant by unplayable, was that, for me as who I am, it's unplayable. It's like telling a coin to join the NBA... it just dosn't compute.

I have the opposite problem. i find RTS games to be waaaay too addicting. In fact, I make it a point not to buy any RTS games because its like crack to me.

At least with shooters, platformers, etc. your hands start to hurt and thats when you know its time to stop.

EDIT: Sid Meier's games in paticular are the ones I've played before in the past.

the main point of thei thread really isnt about RTSs, but the type of guys like this kotaku blogger happened to meet up with... basicly nerdy, stuck guys who love being nerdy and stuck. Not that I don't think that's bad, but more power to them, just leave me out of it.

sounds like their personalities didn't mix well and that they were probably both super uncomfortable. the writer was the type who over-compensates with tons of little dumb jokes when they get nervous and the RTS guy was an introspective nerd? I'm a little bit of both personally
