Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to give a heads up to the December issue of PCGamer. The interview I did for them about a month ago has been published!

What I really want to do is thank everyone here who joined us and believed in our service. You guys are awesome! You also helped get that article published by actively trading. A lot of credit goes to CAGers. The rest goes to the other members from around the web. We are going to get more articles published and everyone here deserves a shout out.

Thanks!
Jon, Mark & Val

why the hell r u in PCGamer? isn't that for PCs? which isn't even on the site? lol

I could use more points too, anyone interested in a non-gh mint full package blitz: the league for ps2? you get to take drugs and whatnot ;)

If there's one thing I've learned...things move real fast in Goozex...

Hopefully, we can offer PC games soon. PCGamer was interested in the idea of trading PC games...and we have seriously considered it since we launched. The milestone we wanted to hit before we take that step is create a PM service so users can really resolve disputes b/w themselves.

Lots of things are happening on Goozex and I had to keep quiet about PC games b/c of competition.

I can imagine PC Game trading getting real sketchy, as in used cd keys, etc.

Yes, that is always a concern for any trade. We hope users can use the PM to their advantage and as a last resort report negative feedback. The 100% guarantee will still stand.

That said, we trust our users and as the site becomes more member driven, I expect it to be self-regulated. Sort of like the Digg concept.

The problem with PC games is that most of them these days have one-time use codes to play online or register the games. Then there's the issue of what makes a PC game complete. Just the plastic cd case and instructions or does the cardboard box need to be included? What about maps and other random paperwork many PC games come with?

If you really want to branch out the site some more, I'd love to see you add DVD movies to the site. Since most video game stores sell DVDs and they can be played on Xbox/PS2/etc. it seems to make sense...and I gaurantee you there's a lot more interest in trading DVDs there there is in trading PC games. I've got about 100 DVDs listed on Switchdiscs.com that I'd list on Goozex if the point values were accurate (i.e. I'm not giving up my season box sets for 100 points). Plus, offering DVDs would open the site up to a whole new customer base, the non-gamer.

I got two private messages today that make me think Goozex really needs a way for senders to cancel trades. Too many people agree to a trade before checking to make sure they still have the game or that they listed it correctly.

"subject: You don't know Jack
message: I have a big problem. I'm really sorry, But I went to get the game to package for shipment and the discs were not in the case. We recently moved and I don't know if my little girl got a hold of them or what. But I can't make the shipment right now until I figure out were the discs went. I really don't want a negative transaction if it can be avoided. Would you be willing to accept another game I have instead? If yes I will list what I have. If no than I guess you have to check off "GAME NOT RECEIVED". Again I'm really sorry for this. I'll understand if you don't want another game. Please reply ASAP. Thanks"

"subject: Planet of the Apes
message: Hi, I just accepted your request for Planet of the Apes. When I went to print the shipping label, I realized that listed the game as having the full package. Unfortunately, I only have the Planet of the Apes cartridge. If this is fine with you I'll just ship out the game tomorrow. If not, let me know and we can cancel the transaction. Sorry for the inconvenience!"

I'll probably have to report both of those games as "lost in mail" or "damaged" since there's no way to cancel trades. I asked the Planet of the Apes sender not to send the game. If the other guy can't find You Don't Know Jack, I probably won't have him send me anything either unless he has another game on my wantlist. Both of them already committed to send and are locked in with no way to cancel, which sucks for all of us.

My one other complain is that I can only have 100 games in my wantlist. There are so many games I want, I find myself deleting several games every day to add other games to my wantlist. When the Wii comes out, there will be about 30 games coming out in the first couple months and I pretty much want them all. I need a bigger wantlist. :(

very good point. The site does need a way to cancell the trades in case something comes up.

also what happens if this happen (never happen to me yet but asking now)

You request say a ps1 game (dont think ps2 games would have this problem ?) and you have the game wanted as complete.

you get the game. manual and case BUT The case is destoryed or broken all to hell.

i think the only feedback is broken game isnt it. so how would that work since they did send you all of it

Empty cd cases cost around 5-10 cents each...as long as you got the art/manual just pop it out and put it in a new case...I don't think a cracked jewel case is a reason to leave negative feedback. They aren't actually worth anything and are easy to replace. I buy mine at Big Lots...but you can find them cheap online too. Also, if you grab those free AOL cds or other free cds when you see them, you can use those jewel cases for games. PSX games don't use a special case like PS2 games do...they use a standard CD jewel case.

eeek...
Rictor has too many good points. And this is why our site is going to only get better...thanks for your input too Slidecage
1. Why PC Games? This is something we wanted to do for a long time. Yes, there will be what is full package issue and really imho it should be Case, Disc(s), Manuals. Not the original box unless the shipper is really kind enough to do this.
2. Why PC Games and not DVDs or other? Easy. We're gamers and we got to get the game trading down right before we move on. We also have to be careful where we move onto...Though 100 point Box Sets does sound appealing...
3. Fix the Cancel Trade problem. Yes, good idea and we know about it. We recently have hit some project management stumbling blocks and our list of things to do have been pushed back.
4. Expand Feedback system to work better. Yes, and again that's coming soon.
5. Expand request/library list...I think that can be done fairly quickly...need to send that through as well.

bad thing is i dont think AOL will be send out any more disc (though i probally have 100 of them lying in the basement LOL.

how about double cd cases (like for FF7 or grandia ) i just got grandia off ebay for 15 complete but the case is cracked all too hell

thanks ...

i dont really like the idea of DVD trading cause its just too easy to make dvd copies .. I mean best buy is selling a Little box that allows you to override the copyright for 99 bucks. So people could buy a box set copy the dvds and then sell them off .

this is the best trading site to date and probally will be the only trading site i use like this (the other site i been using looks like its about to fold up. They used to have 350 games but now down to 142

Double cd cases...eh, buy some cheap double case sport games or cds from the local game/music shop if having a cracked case bugs you that much. I know the local EB/GS has some double case Dreamcast games on clearance for 50 cents or so. Still, if you get much more anal retentive about jewel case condition you might want to seek a good therapist. Last time I checked you can't actually play a jewel case. :P

I think we all know the difference between an original factory produced DVD and a bootleg. If you received a bootleg DVD, you leave negative feedback and get your points back, just like if you receive a bootleg game. There are a ton of bootleg games floating around Ebay but those aren't a problem for most collectors even though they're a lot harder to spot than a bootleg DVD. A good example is the bootleg Gameboy Advance game I pointed out a while back. Also, bootleg DVDs won't play on older DVD players...even if some one doesn't know it's a bootleg...if they try to play it in a DVD player that doesn't play dvd-r discs, it won't even read it. I know this from personal experience...I record all my tv shows on my DVR downstairs so I can watch them when it's more convenient for me. The burned discs work on my computers, my laptop, my new DVD player in the bedroom, and my DVR, but they don't work in my older DVD player in the guest room or my older portable DVD player that I take camping (didn't realize that until I couldn't play the Smallville disc I took with me last weekend. Had to watch Signs instead).

Well, he's saying that he thinks people might copy them, keep the copies for themselves and sell the originals (I think). Still, I don't think that's a big issue. Lots of places sell used CDs and DVDs.

I am the person that agreed to send Rictor Planet of the Apes without realizing that I had listed the game as the "full package". Once I went to print out his address, I noticed my error and looked for a way to cancel out the trade. I couldn't find a way, couldn't find any help in the FAQ, and so I sent him a PM. He only wanted the game if it was the full package, and we would both like the trade to be cancelled. All of this just happened today, so I really don't want to be penalized with a negative feedback for the accidental click of a button. Is there any way for him to get the points back?

Rictor, I wouldn't be opposed to just request one of your 100 point games (and you don't send me it), just so you can get your points back.

I have a problem. One of the games that got requested in my have list I don't even have, I accidently put there. I wasn't able to get on Goozex for like two weeks, and I have recieved negative feedback from the guy. Anyway to get rid of this? It was an accident on my part. I would have notified him but my pc was not working.

Also you said trades are free right? Is that with the envelope you can print out, or do they usually send a bill to your house? How does that work? I am not going to use those ones on Goozex(would hate to recieve a damaged game, so I'm not going to do that to someone else), so I'll pay for the shipping. Can I get extra points or does it normally cost the person to ship it out?

Also do I get my bonus points for the first trade? Right now I got two games going towards people.

You always have to pay shipping on the games you ship out, no matter how you ship them.

I'd like to see a popup when you add a game to your library asking what condition it's in. I've added games and had the default come up as complete package. I was able to catch it and change it manually, but could have easily missed that.

By condition, I think he meant whether it is complete, just disc & instructions, or disc only. And I agree that it would be good, because by default it puts you down as having the complete game.

It's impossible to report a game as lost in the mail until 10 days have passed. If you haven't got a game to some one in 10 days, then you deserve negative feedback...the post office isn't that slow. I've shipped out about 30 games so far and I use delivery confirmation so I know when they arrive...the games take an average of 3 days to get where they're going...even to the other coast. I don't appreciate people taking 2 weeks to send a game and freezing up one of my trade slots and making me miss other games I want that are available.

Hi everyone...
It's been a crazy day. We launched today our Refer A Friend page and with it a new promotion that you should be getting an email about soon. Basically the promotion is the top three people to refer a friend win any video game they want off of Amazon. There are a few simple rules, but no catches. I'll post the rules in a separate post, but I wanted to address the posts I missed over the day.

1. icruise was correct in what I meant...We were originally concerned with people making copies of PC games and shipping out the original...and then playing on the pirated discs using the original key code. We hope people use the PM to resolve these types of situations and if that doesn't work then report negative feedback.

2. drfrielgood & rictor: no need to make that type of trade b/c Rictor was refunded the points

3. Blackout542: trades are free in that you don't pay for the $1 transaction fee through Oct. 20th. As a sender, you must pay for shipping regardless of how you send a game. Check our FAQ for more info on that.

As for the bad trade, we know there a lot of issues that can lead to game not being sent and are fair on a lot of trades. We make sure that both sides of the trade are treated fairly and the buyer was probably really excited to get the game that wasn't able to be sent...That's when our 100% guarantee policy kicks into play...

4. Rictor is right that games should ship within 10 business days anywhere in the U.S. There are always exceptions, but if you are the sender, please on behalf of the Goozex community ship as soon as you can...I know other users will return the favor when you get games.

Ok...gotta go put up the rules for the promo and will be back to post them here...and you guys and invite your friends!

I was? I still see 1800 points like I had yesterday and Planet of the Apes is still in my incoming game list, taking up one of my game spots. We were just trying to get that game off my incoming list without me leaving him negative feedback.

Maybe I'm wrong about my point total and you did give me 100 points. If so, what do you want me to do? Report that I have received Planet of the Apes? I don't have any open trade slots right now and there are 4 games available on the site that are pretty big wants for me, so I'd appreciate this cleared up soon so I have a chance at one of them.

Then send them the proof that you sent it out and it was delivered on time and that will be the end of it. I know you can't report a game missing for 10 days though, because if you try a pop-up window comes up telling you that you can't.

On a different note, I'm surprised no one has requested my complete Firefighter FD18 yet. I know a bunch of people have it on their wantlist...I guess they just don't have enough points or trade slots.

I listed it AFTER it jumped to 800 points. No one was going to list it for 100 points...it's an expensive game on Ebay. I added it to my wantlist to see how many people have it requested right now and it put me like 8th in line. My Digital Devil Saga 2 went fast at 800 points and my Fire Emblem went fast at 700 points...I think this one will go...it's only been listed a couple days...I'm just surprised with so many people having it requested right now that none of them have any points or trade slots open.

There needs to be a feature on the site where you can check your points history. Yesterday I had nearly 3000 points saved up, and now I'm somehow at 1950. I haven't had any of my request games matched, so I'm not sure where the points have gone. I may just not have noticed something, but it'd be nice to have a visual history of my spending and receiving of points.

That's odd, I wonder why that happened. But yeah, I agree.

Some forums would be nice as well and I hope they can finally put in the PC trader in. I know it's kind of wonky with CDkeys and such, but at least the single player games. Of course the MMO's couldn't be tradeable.

Couldn't you pretty much figure it out by adding up the games you have requested with those that you sent out? (Of course, you'd have to take into account whether or not you got any free points when you joined and whether or not you bought any points.) But they don't just disappear (barring a system glitch, which is what you need to check on).

I tried it myself just now and I was able to exactly calculate my current point total.

Well, I just did the same thing some one else did to me. I added a Gameboy Advance game to my list and forgot to go in and put that it was cart only. A couple hours later I got a request for it, and since it doesn't show what method you promised to ship it on the e-mail, I went ahead and agreed to ship it out, thinking I had listed it as cart-only. Of course, I listed it as the full package, so I sent a private message to the user telling them to report the game as damaged, put in the comments that I didn't send them the game because I don't have the box and manual, and leave me negative feedback, as that's the quickest and easiest way to cancel right now. I don't really want negative feedback, so it would be nice if we got a cancel button soon to solve this problem that seems to pop up quite often.

I'm usually more careful than that, but it is 2 am here so I'm half asleep.

I have a question for Goozex about games that seem to get matched and unmatched repeatedly. For example, I had Mario Party Advance get matched, unmatched, matched, unmatched and then matched again, all within a few days (the last time it happened I didn't have enough points, so I just let it go). Similar things have happened with other games. What causes this? It's kind of annoying to have your points tied up in trades that don't seem to want to go through.

Also, I currently have 8 games in the mail to me and one matched. That should allow me to get one of the two available 100 point games that I'm first in line for, but it's been over a day with no matches. Can you tell me what the story is with that?

I would assume it's because there's only 1 copy of the game on the site. The system requests it and the sender doesn't respond to the e-mail within 24 hours so the game goes back onto your wantlist. Then it's requested again from the same sender, who doesn't reply again for 24 hours. It's happened to me a few times too...where for 3 or 4 days the sytem will request the same game over and over again until the sender finally logs in and agrees to send it (or removes it from the site).

That sounds reasonable. It's hard for me to fathom how someone could go for days without checking their email, but a lot of people do, I guess. Maybe games should automatically be put on hold if the person who listed them doesn't respond in one way or another to a trade invitation.

I know I leave town for the weekend fairly often (camping mostly) and don't check my e-mail. Trading sites need vacation mode so you can click a button and remove your games for a couple days, a week, a month, or however long you will be gone.

Goozex, here's a list of old sport games that should be dropped to 100 points where some one might actually request them. These are all in the the 3/$10 bin at most used video game stores:

PS2
All-Star Baseball 2004
All-Star Baseball 2005
Athens 2004
College Hoops 2K6
ESPN Baseball 2K4
ESPN College Hoops 2k5
ESPN Major League Baseball 2K5
ESPN NBA 2k5
ESPN Baskeball 2K4
ESPN NFL 2K4, 2K5
ESPN Hockey 2K4, 2K5

Eh, I'm getting tired of typing...basically any football, baseball, basketball, or hockey game older than 07 should probably be dropped to 100 points if you want to keep the point structure realistic. People probably still won't request them, but it will make it slightly more likely that they might.

The only exception would be the 06 Xbox 360 games, which all still sell in the $10 range used, so probably 200 points for those. All the 07 sports games should be listed high until the 08 versions come out.

Hi icruise,
So I checked out our database and this is what happened.

1. Maria Party Advanced was matched with a user who didn't do anything so the trade timedout. After 3 timeouts it was deleted. Then the user put it back on a week later and this time you didn't have enough points. He still hasn't traded it.

2. PM me the two games you're in line for...

Thanks Rictor for your help. I think Slidecage echoes our position on sports titles. I've seen elsewhere different prices for different sports titles. The goal of the Goozex point system is to give a fair value for game trades. At the end of the day you may find some places like Ebay or Gamestop that sell older sports titles for less, but the point of Goozex is to give you a points/price for your games that is fair to both sides of the trade. As time goes on, our sports titles will bottom out at 100 points and even then I don't expect many to move.

One story about sports games is that we had one user write us that he was happy he could tryout an older version of one of the MLB games...and he liked the game enough to buy the latest version...

For me, I'm a Madden every 3 years type of guy. I own 2005 and will probably get 2007 next year off of Goozex. I love fight night and if I owned a 360 that might be on my top 5 games to get.

I have one game (Yoshi Topsy Turvy) that has been taking a long time to arrive, so I looked at the sender's feedback. His name is bliz96. He has supposedly sent out 19 games and received 5, but ALL of his feedback is negative (5 "game not received" and 1 "broken disc). I still have to wait 3 more days before I can report "game not received" (and I imagine that's why he doesn't have even more negative feedback -- people are waiting for the time limit to expire).

Is he still an active member? Sure, he has a feedback of 0 now, so he is limited to requesting 2 games at once, but I would think that anyone who gets this many negatives with no positives at all is probably just using the system to get free games.

I reported the disc broken so I wouldn't have to wait out the time limit. How long does it usually take to get your points refunded?

As for the question about referring friends... Unfortunately I don't really know many gamers. It might be useful if there was a way to get referrals through my web site (through a link or something) instead of having to supply you with people's emails. I know I'd be willing to put something on my blog if that were the case.

If someone uses that link to signup on Goozex and becomes active you will get the free trade credit. You'll also probably take the lead in our free game giveaway from Amazon...

Remember, the promo is the top 3 people who refer friends win any game they want off of Amazon...if I won I'd go for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

In other words, you're buying sport titles for a few dollars and people are dumb enough to request them so you don't want to lose out on your easy money scam. My reasons for wanting to see old sport games dropped isn't personal...anyone that knows me knows I don't play sport games. I just want to see Goozex be more active and more games traded...and right now I see a glut of 100+ sport titles (roughly 10% of the site) sitting there and not being actively traded (yes, the rare title is requested but that's the exception to the rule).

That's the same reason I wanted rare games raised from 100 points to 1000 points. Some of those games are even on my wantlist, so I hurt myself by bringing it up. Games like Bust a Move I really want...it was 100 points when I added it to my wantlist and it's 1,000 points now...but I still have it on my list and now I'm a little more hopeful that some one might actually add it to the site to trade. I only have the best interests of Goozex at heart because I want the site to succeed. It benefits me personally, as a heavy Goozex user, to see accurate point prices for all games, not 600 points for a sport game that's $5 on Ebay and at every used video game store in the country.

Yesterday I got one of the games I requested, Psychonauts in the mail. I was expecting a beat up game and everything, but I was so surprised. The game was sealed!! If you were on here that sent it out, thanks so much.

Also I checked today and I have 100 points back in. Is that because one of my trades went through? I checked and I can't find feedback(just the negative from when my computer was down, any way to clear that off?). I checked the Twisted Metal 4 in completed section and it said "closed by system". Was that the game that got completed? How do I tell my feedback score from completed trades?

Also if it was from a trade, is there any way I can get the extra 100 points for being a member on CAG?

Thanks.

Shop around more. Most copies fail to sell because people want 2007 sport games now, not 2006. I got a bunch of those old basketball games for my dad at Gamerush, paid $1-3 each for them new/sealed. I accidentally got an Xbox version of NBA Live 2004 so I put it up on Goozex when they first opened and some one requested it (but to be fair there were only around 50-100 games on the site at the time) for, I believe 400 points. I felt bad taking 400 points for a basically worthless game that cost me $2-3, but there's no way to offer games for less than their listed value.

I don't feel as bad taking 600-800 points for games that I can sell for $30-40 on Ebay, even if I get them a little cheaper than that.

Also banned was hbk2k5, and I know some of you have had problems with this user.

Grr...I have 3 games on the way from bliz96. You should have manually cancelled all his trades when you banned him.

I just reported the 3 games from him as damaged to get my points back.

On a different note, I got a private message from another Goozex user asking me how I print out Paypal shipping labels for my Goozex games. Here's the link if anyone needs it: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now&info

Buy a $20 postage scale and some bubble mailers in bulk on Ebay, and you'll never have to go to the post office again.

The Goozex referral code is nice and I'll try to add it to a few sites. However, the benefit for sending a new member may not be enough for some people (basically $1 for each person you refer). I know a lot of sites give better incentives, so you may want to raise it to a couple free trade credits and a couple hundred points for referring a new user, BUT you don't get your points and credits until the new user completes their first trade on the site. That last bit will cut down on fraud.

I don't know if this has been answered, but how long should you wait on a game before you give the 'I didn't receive the game' feedback?

icruise
10-19-2006, 10:53 PM
10 days, I believe. The system won't even let you do it until the limit has expired.

Rictor

You can do it after 10 days but the site says wait 12 days, I think. Of course, most people click on "I'll mail this in 3 business days" so they actually have about 15 days to ship. I usually click on "will mail in 3 days" but then get it shipped out the next morning usually, so often the people receive my games BEFORE the date I was supposed to ship them. Unfortunately, not everyone on the site is good at shipping stuff out. I've also had 3 different users claim to ship out games and never actually send them. I believe at least 1 of those members is banned...the other 2 I reported negative feedback on but I'm not sure if they're still active on the site or not.

I just noticed your neg feedback on one, because I got a game from them.

Unfortunately, there's still a problem. The game (Zoo Tycoon DS) was listed as complete, but theres no manual. I'm not interested in incomplete games. What can be done about this?

Goozex, I received the game Pac-Man Fever today for Gamecube, which kind of surprised me because the sender had to have sent it out AFTER I reported it as lost in the mail/never received for me to get it this late. I had definitely given up on getting this game as it's been like 20 days since they were supposed to send out. You can fix their feedback if that's possible, although a negative might encourage them to ship a little faster.

Is there an estimated time when Canadians will be able to use this site?

be interstesting to see how they handle this. I know on another site i got 3 games that was to come complete and came disc only and the company was like too bad (another reason why i wont use their site any longer)

hopefully goozex is better

Be interstesting to see how many trades happen now since the free trades are gone .. This was one of the reason why i traded off alot of games instead of requesting. Now i have tons of points and dont have to worry about not having enought pts for a game that i want to grab at a later time : )

that is what i mean. I wonder how many people have trade credits. I say i will see my request drop by at least 90% now that it cost money to trade once again.

i know i seen 1 or 2 games that went up as REQUESTED NOW today and im first in line and nothing matches so probally no TRADe credits

I wouldn't worry about it, You're sent an email when you have no trade credits and a game you want is requested. And at $5 for 5 trades, I'm sure that games will continue to flow. Maybe just not as fast as before

Hi everyone,

It's been another crazy week and weekend. So let me get straight to the questions I saw:

1. The system waits for 10 days, which usually the USPS system can reach anywhere including HI and AK. I recommend that you wait 12 days and then report negative feedback.

2. This leads to my second point with Rictor. The negative feedback will stand with the user who sent you Pac-Man b/c in the end we want to make sure people send games when they agree to send them. Part of our credibility is that we are fair to both sides.

3. MightySlacker: your point about a new feedback system for partial games is well taken and that's next on my list of things to do...and then it gets put into the list of things to do for our tech guy. Right now we have been focused on adding PC games.

4. This is probably my most important point. You can get free trades when you refer friends. So in theory, you don't have to pay for another trade again if you keep on referring friends. I've submitted to my tech guy a tracking/accounts page that you should soon find a link to in "My Account" page.

5. Scruffin: I can't say when we'll be in Canada. I don't like to put deadlines b/c it's hard when it comes to judging the timing of important upgrades. I'll make the commitment to nvestigate this week. Btw, you're not the only Canadian demanding we grow up North and there have been quite a few Euros as well.

6. Remember: you get trade credits for each friend you refer and I know for a fact no CAG is winning the race to win a free game off of Amazon...its still early, but I want CAG to win at least the gold and silver in this race.

Have a great Sunday...

When Canadians are added to the system, will we have an option not to trade with them? I hate mailing games to Canada for a couple reasons. First, there's no cheap 14 cent delivery confirmation and second, I can't use Paypal shipping unless I want to pay for an expensive shipping method that does use tracking, therefore I have to actually drive to the post office to ship to Canada.

hi goozex
I'm in a weird situation and I don't know what to do.
I have 4 games (.hack 1-4) coming in from 1 user (Drkness01).
The games was shipped out on Oct 8.
More than 2 weeks have passed so I can report the games as lost if I choose to.
BUT the guy emailed me on Oct. 12 letting me know that he is in the Navy overseas and that it will take longer than normal to get the games.

From the faqs, it states that the site Goozex will automatically leave positive feedback for the sender once 3 weeks have passed. I don't want to punish the sender who is in the Navy for taking a little longer than usual. However, I don't want to get screw either (the guy has 0 feedback so it is hard to tell whether or not I'll get the games in the stated condition).

So, should I go ahead and leave negative feedback?
go ahead and leave positive feedback and hope for the best?
the faq states that the feedback can not be retracted once it has been placed so I really don't know what is the right thing to do.
thanks in advance

Man, the value of X-men legends for the PSP has tanked since I got it. From 400 to 300 to 200. Goozex mentioned that supply has something to do with prices going down. How does that work exactly? (If that's something you can share.) And do you plan on adding a feature that will tell you when points values have changed? In particular, I'm thinking of something like Amazon.com does. When you have something in your cart or on your "saved for later" list that changes in price, it will come up when you access your cart and say "XXX has increased/decreased from $X to $X." I think that would be doable. You could have a message like that be displayed at the top of your request list or library list. Just an idea.

Hey Goozex.

I have a game that I'm willing to trade. It's in my "available" list. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 for PSP. I noticed that someone has requested it, because I looked in the "Requested Now" section for PSP games, and it's there, so I know someone wants it. Also, I'm first in line to send that game. But it's been like this for over a week. Why isn't Goozex telling me to ship this game to this person?

Thanks,

icruise: Your recommendation for point change notification is good and is something we'll try to work on sooner than later...

Without looking at the details I think the big point decrease is due to a combo of things including MSRP drop, supply increase, and it passed a certain date after it was released...

Eh, the glut of crappy old sport games on Goozex I predicted is already starting to come true. Roughly 1/3 of the games listed on the site are now sport games and that percentage will probably continue to rise due to old sport games having too high of point values.

Also, how are the "Featured Games" chosen? I think it looks bad to new members when they click on "featured games" and they see 7 worthless old sport games, 1 old racing game, and 2 old GTA games. If anything, the "featured games" should be new releases so that you're advertising to potential new Goozex users that yes, Goozex does have good games listed.

They can't do that. Cause all the good games are being scooped up by customers as they are listed available on the site. People add the hot games to their want list, and as they become available, they are immediatly taken away and given to the people who desire them.

Yes, the problem is that people see that they are going for high points values and put them up, but nobody (well, almost nobody) is actually going to request the games for those prices, so they stay in the system while the good games disappear pretty quickly.

Still, I don't really think it's that huge of a problem, especially since only one instance of a particular game is displayed, no matter how many copies are available.

just a question.

What is the average time for the system to match you to a game?

It used to take a couple hours for an available game to match after you added it to your requests, but my last two took much less. I added a couple games to my request list but then a few minutes later I went back to remove one of them (I had second thoughts about one) and it had already matched. It took maybe 3 or 4 minutes tops.

Luckily the system chooses to request complete games by default or I'd be totally pissed. It's not a huge deal anyways because it's a 100 point game, but I just thought it was odd that the system was now matching me to games so quickly.

It might run on cycles...say every 3 or 4 hours the site searches through all requests and all availables and matches them.

Forgot to say this in my first post, but I've suspected this. I added a game one time and it was matched in about 30 minutes but I've also had it take upwards of 3 hours...so...I think I'm right. But not really sure

Hi everyone,

First about sports games...I think the beauty of Goozex is that it really is supply and demand type of stuff. Meaning that if you put up games that nobody wants or at that point value nobody will take it (i.e. older sports games)...

However, that doesn't mean the only games in demand are new titles, because I've seen a lot of trades in the 100 to 200 point range. I think people find the site useful to get the games they always wanted to play but couldn't b/c of time or cost. Now they can pick it up cheap. A couple of examples that come to mind are the Mortal Kombat games, Armed & Dangerous, movie games, etc...

imho, sport games don't really add much more from the previous year except for updated rosters...in fact I've read that the new madden is really a step back and the Fifa games have been going down in quality vs. winning eleven...but in the end the publishers have done a really good job marketing the games so that you feel you have to own the latest year...

In the end, the goozex market will demand what's traded or not...the idea that you can dump old sports games and get chromehounds isn't going to fly...

One a side note, if you have a specific question for me like about specific trades or system processes please PM me...this is the fastest way I can get back to you...

ok thanks...!

I think that means that you waited too long to report the game as not arriving, and the system automatically gave the other guy positive feedback.
I don't remember how many days it is before that happens though. I have one game that has been 10 days since the ship date and I've received nothing, so I may have to report that one as a no-show in a day or two.

I would PM Goozex and see if he can help you out with getting back your points.

EDIT: what was the guy's name? (if we are allowed to announce that here) I looked at the feedback for the guy that I'm waiting on and he has sent out 5 games with no feedback. If I remember right he had 3 or so games out when I was matched to him... you figure one of those would have cleared.

Manchowder is right. "Closed by System" is to help the sender get positive feedback in the case the receiver doesn't do it for whatever reason. This happens after 16 days. You can report game not received after 10 and we recommend waiting another 2 days.

If something like your situation comes up, just email feedback "at" goozex so we can make a record of it and run it through our refund process.

I hope that helps!

I'd just like to request once again an expansion of the wishlist...100 games isn't really enough. I have to delete games I want every day in order to add other games to my list...if we could have 300 or so games in our list, I could just add all the games I want, buy a ton of credits, and then not have to log into the site every day to delete/add games from my wanted list according to what is currently available on the site.

i would say that 100 games is more then enough for most people maybe 150. I mean if you put say each person could have 500 games most of these people will be requesting games and dont have enough pts or credits making it seem that some games are in higher request then others

I mean 100 people could put 100 games on their list and one of those games Final fantasy 4 GBA on their list even though that would be like the 80th or 90th pick of the 100 games while only 1 or 2 has it on the top 5

so instead of having 2 people really wanting this game it looks like 100 people want this game forcing up fake demand for the game.

i would love for people to start to toss up newer games on this site. I see that people are requesting Contact and i would love to Give them contact if i knew i would get Magical starsign in return.

also i got a question

is there certain days that games drop in vaule if they do drop or is it just all random

I think limiting it to 100 is a good idea. I think I have somewhere around 15-20 sitting in my request...but you have to put a limit somewhere. If you get a finger on every single release then it isn't really fair to the rest of the community. It's like standing in the line for 20 different rides at the fair all at once. It might take you a bit longer, but just go with what you have requested already and then move onto the other ones later.

A couple quick things:

I really wish there was a way to delineate between originals and players choice/greatest hits/platinum hits. I know its a tad more anal than disc only vs complete, but thered be a ton more games in my queue if I knew.

Also, can you switch it so that a game you have sent out can be re-added to the list before the game arrives? I have multiples of some games, and it sucks to have to wait for the person to click that they got it before I add it again. It says the game is already on your list even though its pending out

I don't want many new releases...but there are maybe 100 PSX games out of the several THOUSAND in existence that I want on my list. Then there are maybe another hundred cart-only GBA games out of several thousand that I want on my list. Then there are probably 50 older PS2 games I want...10 or 15 Gamecube games...maybe 20 Xbox games...10 or 20 DS games...10 or 20 PSP games...and when the Wii comes out...there will probably be 10 or 20 games I want on my list for that system. I don't think that's unreasonable. My wantlist in my sig here has 346 different games listed on it and it's incomplete. Now maybe not everyone collects as many games as I do, but I have well over a thousand console games in my collection and they're only a drop in the bucket compared to the games I want to own.

The other problem with only having 100 games in your wantlist, is if you pick obscure games, no one is ever going to list any of them, so you're stuck waiting until the end of time for some one to list some obscure PSX or GBA games. I've been #1 for a bunch of games since the site opened but no one has ever listed them. I don't think it really matters if you are 1st or 100th in line for a game, it's not like if I'm #1 for 100 different games I can get all 100 games at once anyway. People are limited by their available trade slots. I'm #1 for several games that I've missed in the last couple weeks because I didn't have any open trade slots and I have 10 trade slots right now. They fill up pretty fast when people take 2 weeks to ship a game, not to mention the constant time wasters that list games, then delete them after 2 days of taking up one of my trade slots with a pending match.

Okay, it looks like PC trading went up. I've already put several games up for trade. But I have a question, most of my PC games are in their jewl case with the manual, does that mean I choose the second option on their condition? What if they are in their jewl case but no manual but never came with a manual? A FAQ concering PC games would be awesome, especially serial numbers and the like.

Anyway, if anyone is curious here's my PC games I put up. All in good conditon.

Battlefield 1942 (not using the serial anymore)

Command and Conquer: Red Alert (The origional)

Myst: Masterpiece Edition (awesome game if no one has played it yet, works with XP just fine)

Neverwinter Nights: Diamond (Wow, just 200 points for this? This is NWN with all expansions and three modules:Kingmaker,Shadowguard and Witch's Wake. I think this is a steal at 200 points.)

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

I see what you mean Rictor, I wasn't thinking about older games that are rarely listed.

Also, looks like PC trading has been launched. Too bad it'll be anotehr 12 hours before I can get home and get them all listed. It would be great if Goozex logged on here and let us know what exactly the different categories mean for PC games....Because shipping the box also is hard since it is easily damaged

Tachyon: The Fringe (Bruce Campbell does the voice overs for this!)

The FAQ is being put in place right now. To answer your question now here are our guidlines for Matrix Match and shipping:
1. Disc + Jewel Case = Disc Only
2. Disc + Jewel Case + Manual = Disc + Manual
3. Disc + Jewel Case + Manaul + Original box = Full Package

To save on shipping costs all the PC games that I just put up are Disc + Manual. I recommend as the receiver of PC games that you select Disc Only and then PM the sender to see if they are willing to send the original box. You may find a slow process of getting matched if all your requests are for full package -- especially for older games that came in those huge boxes...

I'll be checking back a lot today on CAG so I can answer quickly any questions or concerns, mainly about PC games...

Another important thing I forgot to mention is that our content provider doesn't provide us with the PC minimum requirements...so it is up to you find out if your computer can handle the game. You can find out on Amazon the game's system requirements.

It looks like Goozex is missing some PC games. Some I can understand like the MMO's. Everquest and WoW.

But why all The Sims and Sims 2 games for PC?

We took out a lot of games that we considered to be MMOs. Sims fell into that list and I double checked that on various MMO list sites.

Really? The Sims has some kind of paid online service?

I never played the Sims, but it consistently showed up on MMO lists.

The sims? Are you sure your not thinking of The Sims Online? I have all the sims 1 and 2 and it's definitely not a MMO. You can download new items from the net for it but some PC games are like that anyway.

I mean, if you guys are uncomftable putting those on your service, I respect that. But they aren't MMOs.

EDIT: To be more clear, The Sims Online is a seperate game from Sims 1 and 2 for the PC. Those MMO sites are probably referring to that. If not, I can only sermise that they mean that you can download addition content online for both games and expansions. But you don't pay a service fee for Sims1/2 and you don't need to log in to play, nor do you play with other people.

so what if you have a pc game that doesn't have an original jewell case. For example I bought a "new" copy of a game from Gamestop that had the box, a disc in a sleeve, and only part of the instructions... would it be possible to trade this or will the jewell case+ artwork be a requirement?

EDIT: Also, would PC games that were sold as Jewell case only be considered disc only?

What I think happened with the Sims is that Sims Online made the list and b/c its in a series we just removed the entire series. I just changed it so that Sims 1, 2 & 2 expansion packs are available for trade.

Thanks for checking us on that!

Yes. There are a lot of PC games that didn't come with jewel cases and just the paper sleeves. So let me rephrase a bit:

1. Disc Only = Disc + optional jewel case
2. Disc + Manual = Disc + Manual + optional jewel case
3. Full Package = Disc + Manual + original box + optional jewel case

Games sold only as Disc + Jewel Case = Disc only

Hope that helps. Sorry for not being clear before.

Without checking our algorithm, I bet its b/c of a high msrp price given by our content provider.

Either way is cool with me. I'm thrilled about the PC titles. I can't wait to get some credits.

Well, I'm just a newbie here but I think I'd rather have it on a new thread so people will notice it more and anyway this thread is getting a little long in the tooth so perhaps we could just move the goozex chat over to a new post.

But whatever is cool. Ditto on being glad that PC games are up.

I just added the Sims to my available list but I had a question. The version I have is the Deluxe edition (with Livin' large expansion & bonus content), should there be a separate listing for it?

If it's for new users, I would think it would make sense to post a new thread about it (perhaps even in the bargain forum) since the only people who regularly read this thread are already Goozex users.

The "Refer a Friend" bonus of 1 trade credit is given when you invite the friend or when the friend signs up and makes a trade?

The initial description states "every friend that you invite you will receive 1 trade credit." But the rules state "For every friend you refer and who becomes an active trader you will receive 1 trade credit." I assume its the latter but just wanted to confirm because I think its a little misleading.

My fault if its misleading b/c I wrote it...

You get 1 trade everytime you refer a friend who signs up and completes a trade.

Your friend, who you referred, will also get 1 free trade after their first transaction.

Sorry for the confusion.

Give it a bit of time....And depending on what you are putting up for trade, change it to full package trades. I had my entire collection up for disc only trade for several weeks and then I changed them over to full package. Within a few hours I had 4 requested from me.
