Here's the entertainment software listings from the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (HOU), Chicago (IL), Los Angeles/Orange County (LA), Sacramento (SAC), San Jose/Silicon Valley (SJ), and Washington state (WA) Fry's Ad(s). These prices are valid only for the dates listed in the subject line.

The items listed below are as they appear in the Fry's Ads. If an item is listed as "SAC and SJ", for example, it could still be on sale at other locations (i.e. - Austin, San Diego, AZ, GA, IN, NV, OR), but it only appeared in the SJ ad. However, since these ads are not available online, I cannot confirm them.

If anyone knows of a website to view any further ads, please let me know.

Those are awesome prices for the entire X-Files series. One of my favorite shows.

I'm just sad that I spend about $100 just for Season 3 when it first came out years ago in its original packaging. Now for $100 I can buy 5 seasons.

I guess for media items (games, movies, etc.), prices always drop eventually. That's why I won't pay more than $10 for a dvd anymore, unless it's one of those super duper 4 disc edition or Disney that will never drop in price.

Anyway, thanks Fido as always for posting Fry's ads.

Can anyone not recommend these Xfiles sets? Are there any extras at all on these discs? I've read in a few places (not that I trust these "places") that the quality on the slimline package discs isn't as great as the quality of the fat-pack set.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the info! From what I've read, the extras there were included on the discs with the episodes are there intact. But the original sets of the earlier season had a 7th disc with extras only. Those are left out of the new slimline sets.

As for the packaging quality, I have no idea. I had the Millenium S1 set once and that was slimline. Quality seemed ok to me.

imo for 20 a pop they are a steal...

even s8 and s9

there are extras, just not extra discs

many of the ep discs have things like deleted scenes or international tv spots that are selectable from the main menu and episode menus pages

plus the shows themselves are freaking amazing

also, i dig the slimline packages - a lot

Managed to PM ST:TNG S3 at CC down to 19.99 because they still had it listed at a MEGA-WHOPPING-129.99...sucks for them, because their site had it for 60.

But I couldn't find any other seasons at a CC (checked about 4) so I ended up at Fry's and got the only other two seasons I really was willing to shell out for, S4&5.

Awesome deal on ST:TNG...thanks OP.

NOTE: the displays with the DVD box sets were only set to go till 9/2 tomorrow...either they'll extend it (i.e. reprint the little price tags with the deal exp. date) or it ends tomorrow so get crackin folks.

Well, I got different stuff from the sounds of it, but I went home with a TON of stuff...

Def Jam:FFNY Takeover
Xenosaga III (Though I haven't finished 1 or started 2)
Socom III - I assume $15 wasn't too much?
Rainbow 6 - Was one of the newer ones for $7 something I think on Xbox
Think there was something else, something on PS2, was $10.23 so I grabbed a copy... but I'm moving this weekend and it's at the new place.

Oh, and Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite were all 99 cents a six-pack, so while I was one of the ONLY people in the place buying it... I picked up 3 coke and 3 diet as well. I'm a TRUE CAG! :)

Well, according to the Friday ad in the Dallas Morning News, Xenosaga III is $39.99. I didn't get to check the other games, unfortunately - I was just seeing if it was worth buying a paper, and after seeing that, I decided not to buy the paper. :P It's just funny how they think paying MSRP is a deal. ^_^;;;;

That Star Trek deal is tremendous. It beats DDD's price after a 20% off sale buy about 50.00 (before tax of course).

Yea, but I just can't justify getting seasons 1, 2, 6, or 7...sigh...I am close to breaking down and getting 6 and possibly 7, but the percentage of good episodes just aint there, and I don't want to spend 120 bucks on 4 seasons of ST:TNG.

Does that include a HD-DVD season set of "Supernatural"? ;-)

edit: Btw warning to those interested in "Ong-Bak", only U.S. version I saw only offered a dub. Yeah it's bullshit but if FOX wants to be dumb that's their perrogative.

Call and check. My store had signs that said "ends 9/2".

My area (SF Bay Area) ends 9/5, luckily. I picked up the first three last night, decided (after 9P) that I should go ahead and get the full run while it's cheap, then got a bit of a scare from the quoted message. Luckily, I was able to get the rest today.

Don't forget to get a raincheck if they're out of a given season. Fry's is good about honoring those, but you have to ask.
