I went to GS the other day asking if the Okami pre-order bonus came in. It hadn't but while the employee was digging through the 'goodie draw' I saw the Tekken D-pad and Key chain. When I pre-ordered Tekken at Game Crazy I only got the key chain and that I gave away.
So do you guys know of any way to get left over preorder crap? I could probably buy it off of him under the counter but I'm not sure.

Yeah, ask for it. Works everytime for me.

I don't know about Gamecrazy, but I have a few different situations I use.
The first, and the most obvious, is to just go in and ask. I usually get my girlfriend to do it, since EB / GS employees are more receptive towards females, and ask if they have any leftover preorder bonuses. If they ask why, she'll just say she got the game and didn't get the bonus... if the store has extra copies (like, 3 artbooks and only 2 preorders) they'll give her the bonus.
At another GS, I'm friends with someone who works there, so he hooks up with a bunch of goodies and I throw business towards his store when I can.
EB / GS, in my experience, WANTS to get rid of this stuff because it just sits around collecting dust. If none of the employees want it, they'll just hand it over if you ask nicely. Hell, just yesterday I picked up two Xenosaga III artbooks (one for me, one pending for a pal) just by asking. And it's not taking the preorders out of anyone's hands since both these EB got in more artbooks than preorders.
Most of the time we don't even buy anything else, we just go in, ask nicely, and if the employee is cool (90% of them are) they'll give you stuff for free. Seeing as how I get all of my games far cheaper than EB / GS prices, I never feel the need to put down a preorder so this works out for me. Sometimes it takes 4 or 5 stores to get one thing, but it's worth it.
Here is a list of everything I've simply asked for and gotten at EB / GS:
Metal Gear Saga DVD
Suikoden V Artbook
Xenosaga 3 Artbook
Tales of Legendia Artbook
Titan Quest artbook
Untold Legends Warriors Code Statue
Tomb Raider Legend artpiece or something (this thing is junk)
Monster Hunter stuffed pig
Steambot Chronicles harmonica
Metal Gear Acid 2 Art Cell
Mega Man 15th Anniversary Wall Scroll
Tekken D-Pad and Chain
Harvest Moon Sheep
Too many soundtrack CD's to list, mostly for Atlus games
And there's tons more I'm probably forgetting, I got a closet full of this stuff. I'm considering preordering Okami just to get the bonus, and returning just the game to a different EB and getting it cheaper elsewhere, I want to be guaranteed that bonus.
Now, if you get a store that is REALLY adamant about not giving out a bonus for free, asking if you can preorder a different game entirely and get the bonus you want. That's worked for me too.

The one and only EB games that I really like to go to suaully gives you the attached pre-order bonus plus one other older pre-order bonus they have left over of your choosing if you pre-order any game at all. Also like others said typically if I ask nicely they'll just give one to me.

Forget asking. Stage a raid and forcibly take the whole goodie drawer w/ guns blazing! Sure - you'll be banned as a result but it'll be hella fun and a great story. Just don't flash bang yourself.

I'm still pissed that GS didn't have any Dead Rising shirts in when I picked up my copy....personally, they should give them out when you pick up the game, not when you first slap money down...fuckers

I think that's the best idea yet. Now I can finally use that EZ gun I have lying around. :applause:
I'm gonna go by there tomorrow and try my luck. It's always fun having two GSs within a mile of one another and then an EB 1 1/2 away.

Oh, another good tip is to wait a day or so when asking for a preorder bonus... NEVER go in the day the game releases and try and score one.
If you give them a day, generally most people have picked up their preorders and the stores know how many extra they have left over, employees have already gotten dibs, or if someone cancelled a preorder or any of that jazz.

I went to a GS and EB today and scored two tekken d-pads. Lol.
