You can now stream your videos to your 360 with this baby, and don't forget it's free (unlike Media Center).
I can't test it out since I won't have my 360 back till this weekend, but I think everyone should know about this.

i believe at xbox360fanboy.com mentioned that you're going to have to wait for a dashboard upgrade before allowing you to do this.
and the title should read Player instead of Center.

looks like it also validates your windows before it installs.... i wonder if it does work though...
i enjoyed the vista beta just because it has media center built in and works with 360

Don't get TOO excited, Xbox 360 can't read DivX or xVid files. I always have to convert those to WMV for them to steam from my Media Center PC to the 360.

that's a given. Got a lot of my stuff in wmv, so I'm happy. No more waiting an hour and a half to convert files and burn a dvd!

Actually there's a program out there that makes you able to play DivX. It's called Transcode 360 I think.
This is good news, I can't wait for the Dashboard update.

I wonder if standard mpg files will work? I have a custom built Tivo that records in mpg format. I guess I will find out soon enough. :D

My question is (and I'm sure I'm the only one asking) is when will the get XP64 to connect?

I'm guessing they haven't released the WMP 11 for XP64? If they don't then probably never, since Windows Vista is just around the corner.

I didn't even bother to try this, I knew it wouldn't work without a dashboard update.
thx :)

MS has stated they want to do updates twice a year. Since we got the first one in the Spring, I'd guess it won't be more than another month or two before we get the next update...however, since it's something we'd all be anticipating, don't be surprised if we have to wait until December 31st at 11:59 PM (Pacific time) before it's released.

I believe the video codecs for the HD-DVD add-on due in a month or two is going to be in the next update, so we should expect the next dashboard update before that is released.
