Just one left in NJ...that's ok. At least I can get some good deals on some PC Ram now...hopefully. Also I agree that their Service is horrid. They are lazy employee's with no experience and bad attitude's. Well the ones I ran into were anyway.

I'm pretty sure it will be tagged 59.99 and the discounts will start all over again... right? That is what these companies do.

Yes, I consider that a deal. Verified? That's a solid discount from $199, particularly right out of the gate. Maybe they're swimming in them.

I just went by my local CompUSA at lunch - they had clearance signs up (along with 'we no longer accept cheques' signs). Unfortunately, everything is still regular price. The one guy I talked to said they had no information on what will be happening, but he assumed that they would start with a 5% off sale.
Doesn't look like there'll be any good deals there for a couple weeks.

i was at both the dublin and easton ones today- they both said the stores were slated to be closed up 90 days from now, and the sawmill store told me they begin liquidation sales there in 2 weeks.
as for current deals, it's a crapshoot- the pushware bins in each are labeled way off what the actual prices are (but fortunately for the better!)- Gun was labeld $10, and it rang up for $5; Tony Hawk's Underground was labeled $10, and rang up for $3; and my favorite CAG deal of the day- Tony Hawk's American Wasteland was red star stickered for $9.98, but it only rang up for $0.98 (!). that's no typo- 98 cents!

I wondered if those red stars meant anything at that store. Some things have them, some don't, I know the ring up price is never certain to be the price displayed. Wish I had checked an American Wasteland, I liked that game a lot.
Maybe I'll go try Ridge Racer, it was down to $15, but the tag had a red star on it. Who knows with that place.

The Woodland Hills store was still in business as of four days ago. I don't think the closure commence for at least a month or so. It takes time to sell down the inventory at slowly increasing discounts. Also, the Department of LAbor gets very persnickety with large companies pulling the plug on their employees on severe short notice.

I went to a CompUSA today and I saw a whole bunch of games labeled $1.88, $2.88 and $7.88 but then the manager told them to take the stickers off and put them back to full price!!!
WTF!
I asked why and he said everything is being put back to regular price and then clearanced out later when they get more info. They did have signs around the store stating they are no longer using the same deals as the weekly ad because of the "FULL INVENTORY CLEARANCE"? I asked when that was and they just said check back at the end of the week? I think everyone was bummed out because they were losing their jobs? Oh well.

Went to Lewisville, TX store yesterday, as they're one of the closing stores. There were NO current deals.
I asked a clerk, he said they'd start at 5% off everything Friday, then go down further from there. 5% is such a joke. Oh, so that $60 game will be $57!? Score!
Fortunately they had pretty much everything for the 360 in stock, so hopefully when it hits 40-50% some goodies remain.

At our store they started at 10 - 20% off (10 for notebooks, desktops, mp3 players). Now its 10 to 50% off (with notebooks, desktops and mp3 players still at 10%) with 2 weeks to go before we close. The funny thing is people are still buying notebooks at that discount even though tax is almost 9% where I live, so they're basically saving 1%.

Ummm wouldn't they pay 9% tax if it were still price?
$100 with 9% tax is $109
$90 at 9% tax is $98.10
Seems a bit more than a 1% discount.

My local one was 10% off today.
A guy said the liquidators were coming in to price items soon. So I will repeat what someone else said, if you have been waiting on clearance items now may be the time to get them as there is a chance the clearance items will be marked up once the liquidators come in.
I actually saw evidence of this with some in town. One store inventory system was showing GBA systems for $4.98. After verifying that they had them over the phone, when I arrived I was told they were transferred to another store (which was closing). So I went to that one and the systems were priced at $60 with a % off.

Yeah, signs said 10-20% but I cold not find anything 20% off. I wanted to price check a 360 game a and a Wii game and the guy at the register said I would be required to buy it to see my discount. ??? I was like what the hell? We went back and fourth for a few minutes and then a woman came up with a huge book of discounts - 99% of the store was 10% off. She then told him to start scanning the stuff and then just void the sale if the don't want it. What a crock... even going of business they are confused and cop attitude.

Speaking as someone who has worked retail before, what the cashier probably meant was that the discount is unknown until it's rung up and the entire purchase is totalled. Every retail place I've ever worked at had stupid shit programmed into the registers that everyone, including the managers, found to be an absolute annoyance. In high school I worked at a place that wouldn't let the employees "undo" an item that had been rung up if the customer changed their mind; a manager had to be called to insert a key and we just had to stand there until he made it up to the register.

He was pretty set on me buying it before I could see the price. He kept saying 'Do you understand what I am saying... when I scan it you will be buying it. I can't tell you the discount until after you buy it.' Since I only had the 2 games I was like yeah sure... and I'm thinking what fun it will be to just walk out after he gives me a total. The only reason I even approached him was because someone on here said the 'next gen' games were 20% already. It was the Melbourne, FL store - anyone in the area should go mess with them.

As expected, the clearance isn't anything special in the early going. Video game stuff is at 10%, while the rest of the store ranges from 5 to 20% off.
That said, I got a few "blowout" leftovers from the clearance bin:
Tron 2.0: Brady Games Guide: $2.38 (2.98 - 20%)
Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (GC): $0.88 (0.98 - 10%)

Yeah. That's dead right. My friend used to work at a CompUSA (in Auburn Hills, MI, off I-75 exit 80). They fired him shortly after he got a 2nd job, two weeks before Christmas. He's been saying since July how the store is going to close. The store has since been looking worse and worse, and that one in our area has fired most all of its employees. As of 2-3 weeks ago the managers have been doing cashier work. They have a couple sales people. No stock boys, etc. Then a couple days ago he tells me it is closing, along with all the stores in the Metro Detroit area with the exception of the one in Lansing.

I just read the paper and in SoCal today they are officially beginning the liquidation. It says everything in store is discounted. There were about 15-20 stores listed for SoCal.
The other day I was talking to a CompUSA employee and she mentioned that they should be "out" of the building in 60 to 90 days. So I guess we have to wait a bit for the TOTAL LIQUIDATION pricing (if supply permits ofcourse)

These prices were only 10% off but they were the last ones and probably would not last.

The employees did say that the merchandise would not be shipped back to any other stores and would be discounted until everything was sold.

Thought I would get one last hurrah as they had 3 XBL 12 Month Starter kits listed on their clearance site for 98 cents! But they were nowhere to be found at the store :( so I picked up Victorious Boxers 2 instead for $9. not too shabby.

Just a FYI for anyone who's looking for the inventory blowout but your store has been removed from the site. Go to google.com and type in COMPUSA YOUR STORE CITY NAME HERE blowout. Then once it finds the old page click on cached pages to find the last inventory list. I found all of my locations but some were about a week old. But at least it gives you something to go off of when you're looking for some deals on games or other cheap stuff that probably has at least 10% additional off. Good luck

yea I had my store blow out list bookmarked but damn, they removed it. We need to sticky this thread somehow to watch the percentages off.

The CompUSA in Mesquite TX right now has everything 20-50%, some limitations, only 10% off MP3 players, 20% off Xbox 360 consoles. All games are currently 30% off, as are DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD. Game wise, not a big selection left on DS, PS2, PSP and PC but they a very large 360 selection as well accessories which are also 30% off - i didn't look in the 360 section as i don't own the consoles but they alot as of tonight (Friday March 2). The other CompUSA locations in Dallas & Arlington are only 10-20% right now and it really isn't worth your time for now.

Just a small update that I hadn't seen on the thread yet but the CompUSA website has been updated to show all the stores closing in 60-90 days. When you search for a store there's a small link at the bottom that links you to the list of store closings by state. I'm unfortunate enough to not live in an area whose CompUSAs are remaining open. The closest ones to me are in DC area and I dont feel that at this time it is not best to invest a couple of hours each way and the headaches associated with that area for minor discounts.

Sugar Land, TX is up to 20% off but deals overall weren't that great. 10% off games at the moment with 20% off movies. Most everything else is about 10% off minus Apple products which I was expecting. I figured they would just take things like consoles and Apple products to another stuff and sell them there. Wouldn't they lose less that way? Anyways, I'm holding out until Sunday and going first thing in the morning if I can wake up on time.

I just went the to Highland Park IL location yesterday and they had 8-10 Xbox 360's (both models) and 4-5 PSPs on the floor at 10% off. I asked about the PS3 and they said they still had a few "in the back" at $540. The PS2 was cleaned-out though, and of course no Wiis in stock. Pretty large selection of PS2, 360, and Wii games too.

I closed the Bloomfield Hills, MI store last fall. The only thing worth buying right now is Apple laptops and Ipods if they are 10% or more in your area. Give it about 2-3 weeks for the 10% products to go to 30% off and you will find your good deals then.
bg2001, your probably stuck with the PS3. They have a ton of all sales are final signs in every location. You would be better off going back up there and asking the manager to speak with the liqudator that is running that store and get the cords and controllers from another ps3.

I would pass on a TV froom COMPUSA unless you can get it for maybe 50% or more off. Remember - these are being sold AS IS, they have high prices on televisions anyways so getting one for 10-20% is about the same as getting one on sale at Best Buy or CC (w/ Warranty)...plus, you are getting older inventory...

I went to the Brookfield WI store yesterday.
Most of the stuff was only 10% off.
They had no GC games.
They still had a good selection of Ps2 games,X-box acessories and Wii games.
They had one copy of GTA:Trilogy for Ps2 for $29.99 before the discount.
I notice there was a Xbox360 core and psp on top of a cabinet behind the customer return counter, but no systems on the floor.
I also looked at their computer parts and that stuff would have to be off at least 30% before it becomes competitive with the normal discount sales at other stores.
The only thing that was 20% off were movies.
I didn't buy anything there but I did stop at a near by ebgames and got used complete copies of We Love Katamai for $27 and Panzar Dragoon Orta for $8. So my trip wasn't a complete waste of time.

No consoles in sight, and no 360 HD-DVD add-on either, which is what I was looking for. But I probably wouldn't have bought it for only 10% off, anyway. They did have a good selection of games, mostly Wii, 360, PS2 and PC. But it's hardly worth it at only 10% off.

Everything is being clearances at varying percentages off. There is no longer a list online (at least for the stores I looked for by googling "COMPUSA blowout <store location>").
I went to the CompUSAs on Route 17 in Paramus, NJ and saw a nice selection of games at craptacular prices. One had Dungeion Seige (PSP) marked at $54.99.
What was even funnier, at least in my sick and angry opinion, is when I had to use their bathroom (had some bad Taco Bell for lunch) their toilet wouldn't flush.:hot: :hot: :hot: I guess its my going away present.....

You know, if we CAGs ebayed our game collections, cashed in our credit at FYE, Gamerush, Gamestop and Gamecrazy... we could form a liquidation company and buy whole chains going under and divvy the inventory up ourselves...
First Tower and now CompUSA... the craptastic liquidation clearance sales continue...

Just an update on mine at least (Easton in Columbus, OH), the discounting has progressed from 10-20% to 10-30%, which is still not great but is one step closer to actual deals. All games are still 10%, though clearenced stuff now applies apparently.
The game selection there is still packed, so hopefully it gets to a price level worth it.

Checked the local CompUSA and markdowns are now 10-30%. MP3 players and computers are still 5%, movies are 20%, computer cables are 30%, video games and consoles are still at 10%.
Not seeing anything of interest at the san diego CUSAs... 10% still. I'll have to stop by grossmont & kearny mesa around wednesday to see if anything's progressed.

Picked up Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (only one) from CUSA @ Duluth GA last week for $13.48 after discounts... They have a few Quake 4 (2) Prey Collectors Edition and (1) Madden 06 on the clearance rack. Not much else, I'm waiting for more discounts. Anyone seen anything at the other metro Atlanta CUSA's?

PDZ Collector's Edition and Kameo each for $19.99 - that's hot, too!
I got my PDZ: CE and Kameo as well as PGR3 for $20/each early in the school year on CompUSA and Circuit City's websites on the same day so this isn't the first or probably last time this deal will be up, but if you've been wanting them, then this is the perfect opportunity.

I agree that 10% off is not really a deal. But you can buy these games at 10% off and not wait for it to be shipped out to you from Amazon. I guess it works out for those who are impatient.
Not all CompUSA stores are at 10% off video games. There's a store here in the Chicago burbs that is at 40%, but the selection is crap from when they dropped to 20%. When your local CompUSA drops to 20% that a good time to start considering making those game purchases you've been eyeing. They may not make it to 40%.

Columbus, OH at the Easton store is still 10% off... I went in there and everything was 5-10%, hell I couldnt find anything at 20% besides monitor cables. Still who will pay 30$ for a monitor cable. If any1 actually sees a sale going on at one of these overpriced stores post please! Its not worth my while to keep checking in on the store. Hell if it goes to 40% you might be able to get a knock off 42" plasma for under 1000$ that most stores sell them for.

PS2 Slimline for $129.98 - $32.50 = $97.48

$10 off $100 purchase (http://home.comcast.net/%7Enathangentry/Compusa.gif)I'm one of the few people w/o a DVD player [aside from my computer] so I'd pick up a PS2 for that price and finally but the link doesn't work I can't see what items my store has on clearance.

On a side note they had a large stack of 27" LCD TV's for $550, kinda high...but they didn't look like they are going anywhere...I hope to upgrade to one for maybe around $300 or less later...need hi-def. gaming. Nothing really special, but they had a few decent games. They are on a rack in front of the regular game section. I mainly went looking for Top Spin 2 so I didn't look at much else but I remember a few.
Top Spin 2 (Xbox 360) - 3 left I think
Enchanted Arms w/ Graphic Novel - 1, maybe 2 left
Tiger Woods 06 (Xbox 360) - 2 or 3 left
Phantasy Star Universe (PS2) - 3 or more
They also had a mix of other Xbox and PS2 titles that I didn't really look at as well as some guides and PC games. These were all on the 50% off rack. I don't remember seeing a sign on the rack though. I didn't find out about the 50% off until I went to pay for Top Spin 2, then I went back and grabbed Enchanted Arms.

I live close to the Brighton store. As of Friday, they were still 10% off software.
I hope everyone who is out to buy realizes that, with CompUSA pricing, we'll most likely have to wait until 50% before there are any good deals to speak of.
Sadly, I'm afraid much of the general population can't do math, or doesn't check NewEgg.com for the same hardware.

I was at the Troy, MI store and games were 10% off and they had 10 - 15% off of HDTV's. Even with 15% off a HDTV, the prices are about the same as everyone else's. Nobody with common sense will buy a set at those prices when you can't return it if it's defective. I wouldn't even look at one unless it was 50% off. The store may be closing, but not the chain (at least for now).

Mine does have a couple nice HDTV's left, and the prices with 15% off are not bad...granted another 15% and they will be steals though. They do have some new models, other stroes are still trying to pass off last years models.
Anything that says Aquos, Bravia, or SXRD are good deals. I'm watching the 24" Gateway LCD screens myself...
I went today though and there were no additional discounts. They are selling stuff unfortunately...
