I was about to ask the same thing, so thanks. :) It sucks that not only can I not get all of Trigun matching, but they don't have the 3rd dvd at all. That Haibane Renmei is really calling my name, since I've seen the first 3-4 episodes and really found it to be interesting. Then it's not hard to fill in more after I got started. :-P Not sure if my bank account will tolerate this tho...

This has to be one of the strangest sales.

I started out with nine items, since I wasn't going to spend $100. I chose Haibane Renmei x 4, Gankutsuou, and Human Condition x 4.

But I couldn't find that 10th title. I didn't really want to buy one of a set (that's what Netflix is for) or a soundtrack.

So, I went looking for that 10th title, read some reviews of titles I wasn't familiar with, and I found that Human Condition had some not so good reviews. Well, strike that.

So down to 5. Requiem from the Darkness? Maybe. On second thought, no. Besides, then I'd just be back to 9. Hey, how about Last Exile and Haibane Renmei?

Crap, that's 11. But I want them all. But I can't get 11. And I'm not going to 25. AAUUGH!!

The Haibane Renmei & Trigun I've seen a few episodes of before & really liked them. The Paranoia Agent I've heard a lot about. Sugar looks like something my wife & I would enjoy watching together. And lastly, the Lain is for a friend (he's missing the last one), and the Texholyze is just to try (it looks a lot like Lain, and that really wasn't one of my favorites...).

Now, I just hope they all ship. :)

EDIT: Oh, and the Fushigi Yugi OAVs finish off my wife's set (since I know everyone was wondering :-P)

I had that problem too, though I just used tabs in firefox to open them all up, then click buy on them one by one in sucession. Usually works and the last tab should show all in stock. Close it and it all goes away.

I couldn't even find 10 I really wanted that I didn't already own. Things like Chobits never appealed much to me, Lain was too slow and confusing, and I own pretty much everything else that looked interesting. I saw some things like the Captain Herlock series and maybe a couple others, but couldn't get to 10.

Edit: I may put in an order later, $5 anime is hard to pass up, but I'm kinda pissed even shows like Fafner and Starship Operators are strangely absent. If they are going to put Geneon titles on sale, put all Geneon titles on sale...

I was upset that they had the 2 His & Hers Circumstance soundtracks but not the actual dvds. I'm missing 2 of those I think (I have 1-3), and have been looking for a while for them to go on sale somewhere so I could complete the set. :-(

All of these titles are ones pretty much going out of print (most have boxsets out). Especially the items still under the pioneer name. There has been a bunch of posts from Shawne Kleckner saying huge shipments are incoming on some dvds but alot of them are limited stock and when they are gone they are gone for good.

Get what you can while you can. There is some rumor of additional titles being added but adding in a high selling item like samurai champloo would seem silly. Funny to see them jumping ship on the UMD titles though.

I got in pretty early and noticed it wasn't there. Probably what caused their bundle of them to sell out a few days ago. What's there is likely the left overs. The pioneer releases are long out of print so you may want to pick up those at the killer price and amazon or ebay the missing volume 3. I really do miss the pioneer name. I'll always be a paionia!

Come to think of it my first dvd player was a pioneer and one of my first dvds was tenchi muyo (from pioneer) with the opening title "I'm a pioneer." Humm a bit unhealthy I suppose... People love it when you're a pioneer

I've had similar problems in the past. Simple solution. Move all your items to your "wishlist" and then when you're ready to order, move them back to the shopping cart. If you're idle for too long, rightstuf's inventory system automatically clears out all items in your cart (because you're taking stock from potential buyers).

I'd definitely recommend the first two -- the rest you'd probably either like or hate depending on how well you like "cute" things. (Sugar in particular would be a great one if you have small children that you want to watch things with)

All of them I Suggested I like. Everyone has there own taste. Tokyo Underground I like for some odd reason, maybe because it was a rip of FoR. Strawberry Egg was funny just the fact the Guy looks more like a Woman than anyone else. I like the Comedy and action genre. I have be told that i have a werid sense of humor too.

last exile is very well done, quite underrated with high production values, solid music and animation. I found the story engaging and the characters well developed. The knock is its ending, but many animes have rather letdown endings but are still very watchable overall.
Hellsing is another very solid effort, even if the ending similarly is a letdown.

I can't speak for the other two he suggested, but I really enjoyed Strawberry Eggs. It's silly, but funny enough and much like Chobits doesn't overstay its welcome. It's certainly worth $4/disk (what is it anyway, 3 disks tops?).

Yes. Also don't expect it to ship ASAP. An order from them made 5/26/06 recieved a confirmation on 6/1/06 and that e-mail states it will ship in 2 business days.

That usually just means the don't have it in stock, but they are able to get more. I've ordered a few things from Rightstuf that were "on order." They took a bit longer to get to me, but I always got them.

That's nothing- my BF once ordred an item from Rightstuf that later went to an indefinite delay... he forgot about it after awhile. 2 YEARS later, it finally releases and a box shows up at the door! (I know, probably choose a different genre)From your qualifications and looking at the list you compiled, you might find Akira to be a less than perfect choice. It's a classic for a few reasons, but if you're not into graphic violence, Trigun and Last Exile would probably be more enjoyable choices (Trigun has a good pace, fun, interesting characters; Last Exile has a beautiful style).

Someone recommened to you Chobits, but you may find the sexual themes gratuitous. I'd also stay away from X, another title recommended you.

Skipping around the titles available for the sale, I'll try and throw a few suggestions out for you, and anyone else new to anime who doesn't want to wind up finding themselves the owner of 10-25 DVDs with overly gratuitious themes.

For someone first trying out anime I'd try a few Lupin III discs. For starters I'd suggest vol 1 and 5. And then whereever you want to go from there. What's great about Lupin is that the localization (translation and then re-dubbing with American Voice Actors) is very good. (A fair number of Geneon aquisitions have mediocre or annoying voice actors so you may find you enjoy a series better by listening to the Japanese actors and reading the English subtitles.)

Gad Guard has a mix of good characters, the style is nice and it has giant-robots, an anime staple you'll want to experience at some point.

Similar to Gad Guard, GateKeepers is another ensemble youth cast. Here, set in Japan during the 50s. However there are invaders (read: aliens in disquise) wanting to take over. Nothing terrific and RightStuf only has discs 1-3 out of 8 I believe. But it's an okay show. Violence yes, but like Gad Guard, a mild violence.

Sherlock Hound is excellent and credits Miyazaki Hayao as it's chief director. (If you're brand spankin' new to anime, he's in a sort of league all his own. As Kurosawa Akira is to Japanese film (Ran, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo) Miyazaki is to anime. Rent My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away on DVD sometime to get an idea of his feature films. They're gorgeous and he has a way of drawing you into his world through his story-telling.)

Stellvia is a space pilot training series, which I've only seen part-way into. What I have seen was quite enjoyable.

Paranoia Agent is one of my favorite anime series. The series is about wanting to escape reality & responsibility and wanting to ignore evil. The violence is off-camera. And there are mature issues regarding a prostitute and a girl with a father horrible in um... horrible ways. It's bizarre and fascinating. For me, it's the sort of show you'd want everyone to see and 'get' what you 'got' out of it. Which is why I mention it. But owing to the content, it's probably not quite your show.

honestly, ive seen and loved Lain, Paranoia Agent, and Ikki-Tousen, those are guarunteed winners. i only liked the serious Tri-Gun eps with the Gun-Ho Guns, so i got a good set with those. and having a little Lupin The 3rd doesnt hurt.

now Hellsing always intrigued me but i never got into it, but the art and animation look too good to pass up.

Texhnolyze sounded like it had everything i wanted, i was gonna gonna only get the first vol 1, but i thought itd be more of a pain to find more volumes if i liked it. Burn Up Scramble looks to have everything GunDress didnt(only thought it was decent, but that was a long time ago, could use reviewing). but i doubt its better than Uncut Mezzo Forte....i guess we'll see.

and i got just got Jubei Chan because the box art looked great and the story sounded even better

Well, there are a few recomendations to certain genres in the thread already. So you can follow that if you hasve the same taste as other members. What I generally show people though is Read or Die, which while not on this sale, is on sale for 10 bucks. Nice short OVA with lots off action and eye candy.

Last Exile is an amazing series. Stellivia is medicore from what I heard but is from the director of Nadeisco which IS a great series. I would go with last exile. Engaging and beautiful looking.

I wouldn't call Stellvia medicore. It has nice animation and the first half is pretty intersting. Though I oculd care less about the second half. If anything, just get the first 4 vol.

If I was to choose one though, i'd probably go with last exile also. I didn't buy it from this sale since I already own it. Oh the monies I paid for it. I need to rewatch it soon.

I went with Heat Guy J from recommendations in this thread. Koi Kaze & Sol Bianca looked interesting & had pretty good reviews. Texhnolyze, I got the first disk of in my original order and just felt like getting the whole series (especially since people say the series doesn't pick up until the second disk anyway). And Last Exile...well, you guys were here for that part of the story. :-P

I have no idea when I'll ever watch all of this. ;)

Normally, rightstuf only bills you as items ship. However, they did point out that, for this sale, if your order has to be split into multiple shipments, they'll bill you the full amount with the first shipment. But you'll defintely have something in the mail before you're charged.

'Backordered' is a pretty standard message with Rightstuf. Most likely, you'll get everything just fine, but they do point out that since this sale is moving so much closeout product, something may go out-of-stock before your order's filled. They'll email you when that happens so you can pick another item.

I ordered last Monday night and all my stuff is still "backordered". A couple people on DVDTalk had some of their dvds ship before the end of last week. I'm sure pretty much all the orders will be filled, but I'm still anxious to see that shipping confirmation. I really don't want to have to swap for any other titles. Plus, I'm hoping they fill the orders based on when you ordered, so people who ordered the first few days will see theirs ship first.

I hate the waiting! :-(

After it pulls up your order summary, make sure you click on "View Order" to view the details. Mine has that "All Backordered" message at the summary page, but when I go into details it only looks like they're waiting on 5 of the 25 disks.

You can only buy from the "Bountiful Items" list. There are no box sets listed, only individual DVDs.

Also, you have to order exactly 10 DVDs (for $50) or exactly 25 DVDs (for $100).

If there is no counter, they should still have plenty available. It looks like they're missing a few volumes of Trigun, but you should be able to get all of Gungrave. They may take a while to ship though.

When did you place your order? I think you still have a few stages to go. You'll probably see a Processing stage, then "all backordered" or "on order from manufacturer", then reserved, then shipment processing, then finally shipment. Phew. :)

Finally placed the BOUNTY25 order. Got my 3 missing Ai Yori Aoshi volumes but sold out on the 2 Gatekeeper 21 DVDs. Ended up using 5 CDs as fillers.

Anyway, the 3 Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi Limited Edition DVDs and Someday Dreamers DVDs (especially V.1 + artbox) are a steal. If you haven't seen them, they are pretty good shows. I particularly like the Someday's Dreamers out of the two because of its beautiful art and music. Look at the Someday's Dreamers artbox and you know what I mean :)

The cheapest place I had found to fill in the missing Trigun disk was going to run me just over $20 (after I bought their required 3 dvds & paid for shipping), so bumping up to 50 & getting another series I was very interested in sounds like a deal.

I also sent in a change request for my second order to remove the three Sol Bianca disks & add the three Someday's Dreamers. The series is over rated, IMO. On the face of it, it does sound amusing and entertaining; it's set up to have Chi (the girl persicom) into crazy situations where her naivete gets reactions from her owner or other men around her. There's some mystery as to her history, but it's a fairly weak story.

She's pretty, but that's about the best thing I can say for it. The series bored me tremendously. I've heard that the manga is better. As I haven't read it, I couldn't comment.

Chobits is very light fare, but I really enjoyed it. Very funny, if a bit predictable at times. I'd say it's the perfect length; any longer and it would have risked wearing out its welcome. I definitely will be rewatching my set at some point, so I'd say it's well worth the $4/disk if you're into comedy anime & don't mind a heavy does of fan service.

If you are wanting to do a switch I highly suggest you call. Emailing the request seems to take quite awhile and I have had the item ship while waiting for an email response in the past. Oddly enough when I called today there wasn't any hold time either. Just have the item numbers of the new titles you are switching in.

I thought the enishi limited editions were a steal when they were on special for 14.99 each. Still amazed at them being added. With all these new people getting the single releases I wonder if it is time to unleash my two extra sealed ai yori aoshi boxes to the world.

With all these new people getting the single releases I wonder if it is time to unleash my two extra sealed ai yori aoshi boxes to the world. I unleashed one few months ago for $60 BIN. It went unwanted until the last 36 hours or so.

Anyway, I still have one spare one to unleash :evil:

I swear to god, ive saved and moved all the items i want about 3 times, and everytime i go to checkout it clears my cart. Trying to place another order for 25 items. Getting kinda annoyed...

Finally it went through... Decided to get some random things. Couple i didnt hear too great reviews on, but i have pretty varying tastes, and try to watch as much of a series as possible no matter how bad (I was able to sit through Gregory Horror Show, that should say something). Haibane i mainly went for because i love Lain & Texhnolyze. I was tempted to buy Master Keaton just because its an Urasawa title, but it didnt look like it'd compare to the greatness of Monster & 20th Century Boys.

This morning my Enishi DVDs upgraded to shipment processing, so I hastily called customer service (was going to follow up my email request anyway) and was able to successfully change it to the box+figures. Phew!

Their automated greeting guy is mildly annoying, but I enjoyed the Jpop hold music.

When did you place your order? I think you still have a few stages to go. You'll probably see a Processing stage, then "all backordered" or "on order from manufacturer", then reserved, then shipment processing, then finally shipment. Phew. :)

They are doing a great job filling the orders in a timely manner, considering how many orders they got.

It means that they are not in stock, but should be soon. As long as the counter hasn't reached zero, you should be able to get them.

Well, I called in to change my order. It's probably a good thing that I called, since the lady said they were still reading emails from 2 days ago.

Anyway, the sold out of AYA Vol2 since, though I still modified the order anyway, replacing Heat guy J and Sol Bianca with AYA and AYA E and the last 2 Stellvia vols, with Appleseed in place of the missing AYA.

I got a couple of those emails as well, and my DVDs then shipped a few days later. I am pretty sure that if you can order it, you should be able to get it. I am pretty sure the stock counters show how much they are expecting to recieve even if it's not actually in stock at thier warehouse. If there isn't a counter, it probably means they have plenty. So I really don't think you have anything to worry about, especially since the sale still has a ways to go! =3

If you've seen Azumanga Daioh, it's somewhat similar (I believe it's actually the slightly older of the two). Though I'd only seen the first few episodes of Doki Doki School Hours, I'd say that Azumanga is definitely the better buy (assuming that you don't have it or haven't seen it).

If you have seen Azumanga and are looking for something similar, my recommendation would be to wait for the DVDs for Pani Poni Dash to come out. ADV has the license -- not sure when they're supposed to be out.

What's funny is that off of the main TRSI page, when I click on "where's my stuff?" I'm given a Ship Date of Sept 18. But the status is, Hasn't shipped yet.

*nods* And each item on my order list has gone from "on order from manufacturer/warehouse" to "reserved for your order" so I'm pretty comfortable that there is one of each of what I ordered alloted to my list. I think I'm just excited about finishing off some collections, so I'm not my normal rational self over this.

Yea, im expecting to get my first order tomorrow. Was received/left the Jacksonville (4 hour drive) sorting facility on Thursday. I hope i get it tomorrow, or ill be going crazy all weekend (and all day at work monday).

For some reason my 2nd order i placed this morning (1:30am est) isnt even showing on my status. I got the confirmation email at least. The only thing im worried about is that Koi Kaze vol 1 is "on order" but doesnt have any numbers of how many are available...

The order I placed around 11pm last night isn't up yet either. I'm expecting it after their update tonight. Also, no numbers mean they still have plenty left, so you should be fine.

Ya know, I thought to myself, Fushigi Yugi sure looks interesting...
Then I thought a friend might enjoy Akira and Appleseed...
Then I realized I always wanted copies of the Tenchi Muyo OVA dvds...
Then I realized Soultaker and Texnolyze were in anamophic widescreen, and I'm a sucker for cheap, potentially interesting series in a widescreen format...
Then I learned another friend wanted the second FLCL cd...
And then I needed one more to finish up the 25, and Gankutsuou caught my eye...

And that's how I spent $100. After ordering the R.O.D. series special + the OVA last week. Damn Rightstuf.

You can check the status by going to the main site and clicking on "Wheres My Stuff". It'll give you the status for each dvd.

Got my order today. I love these Texhnolyze Lenticular covers, the 3d is so vibrant in them (only ordered vol 1 & 2 to complete my set and only vol 1 had the lenticular cover, not sure if any of the others come with them). A couple of the dvd locks were broken (one chobits & one gungrave) but the dvds were packaged pretty well so they didnt move around or get scratched up.

Eh, wish I had called now because I still haven't heard back from my change request email, but then again the order is still pending from the manufacturer. Can't call today, but I'll probably just call them on Monday assuming it hasn't updated or I haven't received an email by then.

Was hoping my first order would be here today, but no luck. How fast is their free shipping usually?
