I'm looking for a cheap but not obsolete Mac. Prefer an ibook but would consider a desktop. By cheap, I mean under 400. Tried Craigslist and Ebay without any luck. I have a decent laptop that I would trade for it if there was anyone who would consider a deal.
thanks in advance,
RC

Wow, something I never thought I'd hear in the same thought. "Mac" and "cheap" with nary a mention of "Big" or "Mickey D's". Good luck.

I remember a private school in my area was closing down, and they where selling everything. Well they put a add for projectors, desk, gym equipment and then they say 5 month old Apple laptops $350!. People got in line the day ahead of the sale. So anyways the school thought it was unfair to people who didn't get in line, so they had a raffle for the laptops instead. People when BESERK! One guy on the radio said some one kicked him in the shin and hurt him pretty bad over the laptop. Pretty funny.
This summer I got a Mac mini 1.8ghz with a gig of ram and the latest OSX for $250 and a hard drive enclosure. Keep your eyes out, I'm telling you craigslist is where it's at. At least here in Milwaukee. I ended up selling the Mac because I didn't like the layout of the OS but it was fun to play with for a while and sell for a large profit.

that g3 will run osX fine. I have a G3 233 and a G3 500 with OSX, the important thing is RAMs.
I buy mine from ebay and the local scene (craigslist and the paper). My policy is: if you don't tell me explicitly you ripped it out some guy's house while he was taking a bath, I will not consider my 300$ macBook pro stolen property.

I've been checking CL for about a week and just can't come across any of these great deals. Maybe Macs don't hold there value as well in the midwest as New England :) .
