So I know this isnt a review forum, but i decided to post anyways. I went to EB and wanted to get a PSP game, and couldnt decided between locoroco and tekken: dark resurection. I thought Id pick up Tekken because on gamespot, it got like a 9.2, and Im sure glad I did. It is definatly one of the best PSP games (i know thats not saying a lot since a lot of psp games are bad). The game has really great graphics and very responsive controls. Only thing to say about the game, which is kind of a negative and kind of not, is that all the charachters start unlocked. Its good because it IS a portable, so it makes it a little better to pick up, but the bad side is that playing the story and such doesnt really have any rewards. But please at least rent this game if you own a PSP. I really enjoyed it and think every one else will to. Hopefully, i can trade in a couple more GC games to pick up LocoRoco. Seems fun!

I see your point of view. I actually like playing tekken 5 better than dark ressurection just because of that reason.

Getting money is kind of pointless if the only purpose for the money is articles of clothing or colors that you purchase. You never get anything of any consequence playing the game really. All you do is get more stuff to play dressup with your particular character which is amusing for about five minutes. Mind you I still like the game but half the fun in fighting games for me is unlocking stuff. From my experience 90% of fighting games out now at least for the PSP have everything unlocked from the beginning so I know where the guy is coming from it kind of ruins the fun of the game not "earning" the characters.

Well, many people consider all the clothing and accessories you buy to be "earnings". Just because you don't find them to be interesting doesn't mean that many other people don't as well. Additionally, many people like the fact that all the players are unlocked from the beginning. Two sides to every fence, ya know.

Oh I know Ender I never claimed otherwise some people like it the way it is some of us would rather have the chance to unlock the characters themselves. It seems me and the OP agree that we both feel unlocking characters themselves would be more fun for us which is what I thought I eluded to in my orginal post.

I'm actually glad all the characters are unlocked, as I did allo that in the PS2 version and I just leapfrogged to Dojo mode.

However I did go back to story because you do unlock different modes for beating it numerous times.

While I wouldn't mind if everyone was unlocked on say, a home system where friends can come over and play, getting two people with two PSP's and all that shit is pretty much non existant for me since nobody I know also has one.

In that regard, having you unlock things would have added that little extra oomph to the game - the modes are fun, but I don't play it often because a) there is no competition for me and b) I'm not really unlocking anything.

I pick it up every once in awhile but I feel as if someone gave me the game with a close to 100% save and, at least to me, that is boring.

I kind of like having everything unlocked. My backlog of video games is still freaking huge, so I would basically have no time to really unlock stuff in Dark Resurrection.

But DR is my favorite Tekken game ever (fixed my biggest complaints with Tekken 5, such as cheap final boss), so I'm happy. :D

This pretty well sums up how I feel about almost all fighting games on the PSP now a days the best one really so far is SFA3 because of the world tour mode but even there I"m mildy annoyed because it only lets you build up like 7 chars total :/.

you still have to unlock the moives, and the main part of the game isnt the story mode, but the dojo.

Yea I dont find the money to be rewarding in the game. I can buy a new haircut or change my color of pants, but I dont think that is that fun. I still think it is a great game though.

I have to agree that I enjoyed having to unlock characters a bit more. It forced you to learn everyone alot quicker than needed.

I like having everything unlocked. I got this game to pick up and play while I'm between cases at work so I don't want to go through the story mode everytime I play. The biggest feature about it that I like is download play. I was playing with a coworker last night and he got really into it. I wouldn't be suprised if he went out and got a copy today.

So far 7 divine fists for me... Like I did with Tekken 5, I'm trying to get every character at the highest rank.
