I don't care if it's a port or not. I rented Parappa and beat it but never took the time (as a younger lad) to buy it for myself. This will be a part of my psp collection.
Now.
For some VIB RIBBON!!!!!! (C'mon Sony please!)

Seeing as how it is widescreen and has multiplayer it is definitely a new game...
Plus, they wouldn't make such a big announcement foor an emulator, because there are gonna be thousands of them.

Hopefully there'll be some challenge to it... either way, this should be pretty cool. I just hope they have the karate stage in there.

"If you want to test me I'm sure you'll find..."
"In the rain or in the snow"
(repeat)
"Got that got that funky flow"
(repeat)
"Crack crack crack the eggs into the bowl"
"M-I-X the flour into the bowl."
Um easy? Just use mp3s.

if that screen shot they have is real, then it looks like its a remake of the first. well i guess its good news for those who dont have the original.

Cheap Cheap the Cooking Chicken's song FTW (DUH.)
I was thinking how much I wanted this on PSP. Check my avatar if you want proof. :D
But I think they should include Um Jammer Lammy as well, since Parappa isn't the longest game.

Indeed. Parappa -- as much as I love it -- takes less than an hour to beat. Lammy's a much longer game, and included would make it worth buying. Plus, many people foolishly passed up Lammy back in the day.

I badly want this. I cannot find the first Parappa at all, and it was my favorite by a long shot. I'm definitely getting this.

Eh I read up on it. Those bums aren't adding any songs to it. wtf.
Although there is an ad hoc multiplayer mode.
Is there something excruciatingly difficult about making infrastructure games for the PSP?

The only PaRappa I've gotten to play was the PS2 sequel and that took maybe 2-3 hours tops, so I'd have to hope that there's more to the game if they want $30-$40 for it. $5-$10 is when I'd give it a shot if it's still a short game.

Sony has a requirement on pors for added content, so expect everything from the original, widescreen, multiplayer, and a bit more.
I hope this turns out for some more Parrapa games or spinoffs to make up for part 2.

I know that. I'm saying it's too shallow to really spend $30-$40 and expect to get your money's worth out of it, except for die hard PaRappa fans.

I'm pretty die-hard, and there's no way I'm paying $40 to get a PSP clone of a game I've played a million times and own the original soundtrack to.

So it's a straight port? Awesome, I'd rather have Parappa on my PSP so I'll dump my incomplete PS One version.

Sounds like the PSP is the new PS1. I thought all these games were going to be available for download? If they keep releasing old games for full price, they're going to turn off a big chunk of the market. Like you guys said already, it's not worth paying 40 bucks for a game most of us already own or have played to death. Parappa was one of my favorite PS1 games but I won't pay more than 20 bucks for it on the PSP.

I love this game, and I love the fact that the PSP is getting it. But, it has the same music as the original Parappa, which imo makes it the same game.. and that's not fair to psp owners. At least, they should remix some songs.. or add special guest rappers with Parappa rapping some real rap songs.. (just an idea) I just think the game needs more game.. and in Nov. this should be one of the games that we can play on psp via emulation...

Yup.
I really don't see the point of porting it like this but whatever. Sony is full of ass backwards decsion makers these days so it doesn't shock me.

They could have picked something worse to port. I'm glad they chose an awesome game. One day, when the PSP version is around $20 I'll probably buy it.
