MULTITAP w 2/Controllers Bundle at VGD (http://www.videogamedeals.com/product_info.php/products_id/1420)
These are third party items but I stand by these as great products. I will gladly accept any defective returns (which I dont even think there will be any).
Use the CheapyD store link to VideoGameDeals on top to give the man his dues.
I dont want to hear any complaining that these are 3rd party...this is a great deal. If any CAGers want to stop in my store to try the controller and review it please LMK. I sell the controller on special for $8.99 and the multitap is $14.99. So that's $33...you save another $8 in this offer.
The multitap was being sold by Lik-Sang for $17.99 but they are out of stock. http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=hais+multitap&btnG=Search+Froogle
Sony brand equivalent total is $65-$80.
Now it's up to you.
Enjoy.

Not a bad deal. Too bad it's third party stuff. I got real excited for a second there.

I know some of you will not want these because they are third party...that is why I invite any CAGers down to my store to give them a free tryout. Multitaps dont matter anyways as long as they are 100% compatible and this one is actually smaller in size than the Sony one.

I am anxious to hear someone close by you try these out and let us know.
I have 3 friends that are wanting to play Champions of Norrath but thanks to Sony's arrogant short-sightedness the PS2 only has the two controller ports.
Since I hardly play the PS2 otherwise I don't want to spend a great deal on controllers or the tap since this will probably be the only game that I ever use them with. We play 4P games on the GC and Xbox all the time.
On the other hand, if these controllers are different enough to cause people to "prefer" the originals to the point of griping if they don't get it I would rather pass. There's nothing worse than playing with people who blame the controller for their screw-ups.

Shame I don't know 3 other PS2 gamers that is willing to go over my house because this will be perfect for CoNRoE and Winning Eleven 7: International.
Due to my position as Hardware Editor for PSXNation.com, I have about 8 controllers and if the multitaps are cheap (like about $10 each but that will be a long day before that happens), I would just rather get two multitaps and prepare for Winning Eleven 7: International.
defender: Do these multitaps work on the PSX/PSone? I have one of those tiny babbies (with the nice Sony RGB monitor) and I wouldn't mind picking up CTR for some 4 player loving.

I will test tomorrow to confirm PSone/PSX compatibility.
Maybe I will get CheapyD to try a controller out.
I am getting Champions of Norath tomorrow so I can test that too... :-)

Surely somebody is willing to test these and give us some impressions.
Anyone?...Somebody could order them and then give us the skinny. Go ahead, take one for the team.

i'm trying to order one of the controllers by itself, but the form won't let me use the freeshipCAG code for free shipping. is that code still good? is there a minimum order or something?
I'm willing to give it a shot and report back to all the naysayers!!

I think there is a $30 minimum order...it may be more.

I'm not gonna let this thread die until somebody tries them and gives a report.

I'm sorry, but these controllers aren't just third party, they are very cheap Asian knockoffs. They even package them like Sony's, which should be your first clue right there. I'm surprised you would even try and pawn this stuff off on CAGers.
Of course, that's just my opinion but I know what you have there.
Now, I do like the Xenogears that you have shown on your site. I was going to pick that up, but is it really the non-greatest hits one? That's the picture and I just want to make sure.

It says it's the GH version on the page.

Oh.
Maybe he should update the picture then. You wouldn't want to mislead people. Especially since it's not real noticeable that it says GH.

I have shipped a few of the bundles out so hopefully some reviews will start.
As for the XenoGears...it does clearly state Greatest Hits Version as a bullet point.
The Greatest Hits version of XenoGears is no different in game play than the non-gh version. I dont have a plan to update the image. If I did that then everyone would want me to do so on all the games...thats just not feasible. If enough people ask me which version a game is then I will take the 10 seconds to add GREATEST HITS VERSION to the description.

All videogame controllers are made in Asia...most in China. Third Party controllers are many times made in the same factory as originals. I clearly stated these are NOT sony brand. I am not sure why are you suprised that I am selling a quality controller at a cheap price to CAGers. These controllers are without doubt the best 3rd party controllers for PS2 that I have ever felt. You sir are just guessing at the quality.

I have just made changes to the way VERSIONS are labelled on product descriptions.
It should be VERY clear now. It even shows the version when added to cart.

hey defender,
screw the whiny little tarts who're complaining! i haven't used one of these controllers yet myself, but we all know you to be a reputable guy. if you say they're good, then they're good.
as for that GH stuff: if you're a gamer and you care which version of the packaging you get (regardless that the game inside is exactly the same), then that's your deal; VGD made it pretty clear which version he was talking about in that XenoGears deal.
yeah, i'm still anxious to hear how people judge those controlllers; i hope people are fair about it and don't nitpick them to death!

I just received my 2 controller + multi-tap and tribes game yesterday..
This will be very brief review, but I will update it as I use the hardware more. I've used the product for only 10 minutes, so I will have more updates..
Controller - they are transparent blue and looks almost identical to official PS2 controllers. Buttons feels tiny bit stiffer than official one, but it's probably due to it's being new. Also sticks are not rubberized(I think..)
Vibration function seems to work fine.
Multi-tap - this is the first multi-tap product that I used, so I can't compare to the official one.. At first I plugged it into second controller spot and my ATV Offroad fury game didn't recognize it - but when I plugged it into the first port everything worked fine. Memory card slot is little tight. Also the cable is very short - ~6 inches(?). However it seems to work very well.
So far I am very satisfied with the purchase. First I had my doubts about third party stuff, but I don't have problem with this one.
Update: the controller has rubber on it. It's little coarser than the official one. Still good, gets the job done.
I've played my favorite game now - Dynasty Warrior 4 - and it feels almost identical to official one. The vibration is little different - bit stronger.
Also the cord is about 2 feet shorter than official one.

I purchased one of those controllers from VGD about a month ago and have had no problem with it whatsoever. I also purchased Xenogears from them and it is still a damn good game six years after its initial release. No too many places have Xenogears, let alone for 18 bucks used or new. I have been very satisfied with my purchase.

I have bought these controllers sometime ago. If you want to play the street fighter or king of fighters games, get the sony brand. These D-pad sinks in almost completely for it to respond, so if you r going to play games that dont need the D-pad then it may be good for the price. I would give it a 2.5/5 for it's quality.

I need new controllers and to get two controllers that are fairly good and a multitap for the same price as one official controller would be great. I may be ordering.

Also, is there a brand to the controller so I could look up more on them online?

Thanks for the input.
Anyone else.
But what do you mean by dualshock? The rumble?
What else is bad about them?
